Utah Jazz: McFade-y: Star silent when Utah pulls away
30 comments | Read story
Brewer and the rest of the team stepped up their defense on McGrady in the second half, which is really what sparked the run (and the incredible board work in the 3rd...Houston was 1-and-done all quarter), but they absolutely did NOT shut him down.
If you think that was good defense by Brewer then I guess you will be happy when Bryant goes off for 60 and we only lose by 10...since Brewer would have done such a good defensive job on Kobe...after all, that IS short of his 80 point performance, right?
They must do a FAR better job on Kobe. In the end, the article is right, McGrady just did not show up in the 3rd. He can come up with whatever excuse he wants, and yeah it is a team game, but he was not even calling for the ball in the 3rd. The couple of times he touched it he settled for contested 18 footers...is that a super-star? No.
McGrady is a star of convenience...if it is convenient, he has a great game.
the rocket I would like to see in a Jazz uniform would be Scola. Looks like he has a great future in this league and he is the one player on their team that I didn't hear making any excuses when they lost.
He can play when Houston is up, but chokes when they are down.
McGrady will always be a big pull to the SportsCenter highlight reels, but he will never carry a team anywhere. His "me first" mentality and inaability to make teammates better ensure that at best he can only be the 2nd best option on a really good team.
Unfortunately for the Rockets, their other option, Yao Ming, seems to be far too fragile for NBA life.
That said, there were times in the series where he just disappeared. Attribute those dropoffs to the Jazz, though, and not to any inadequacy on T-Mac's part. His playoff numbers are better than his regular season numbers across the board.
The difference is the Jazz have a stronger, more complete team and were able to throw good players at T-Mac all night long. (How would you do if you had to deal with Harpring, AK, and Brewer all game long, rotated in so they're always fresh while you just get more tired?) Put T-Mac on a better team and the story might be different.
Now we're on to the Lakers...
Let's see the Jazz do what they did in 96 and beat the snot out of them! It's gonna be a lot harder than beating Houston--but if the Jazz bring their best game, they can do it.
Get him some more support, and watch out.
It was good to see the Rockets get the smack down after game 5. Jazz better bring their A-game for LA.
He score 40, but his points came when the Jazz were in control. When Jazz up 16 in the 2nd quarter, McLady started scoring. When things got close in the third, No McLady, Jazz go up in the 4th, McLady is back to scoring.
Good Riddance.
takes all the blame because you have not made it through the first round just keep your head up
you know what they say, at first you don't secede
