Comments about ‘Backyard birds: Utahn's new guides are aimed at the casual watcher’

How exciting - finally something one can use quickly while the bird is still there, and without needing a college degree. I can't wait to use one with my grandchildren.

Kitchen window bird watching is great. We have feeders hanging on an apple tree in the backyard and it's fun to see the different birds year around. There's flit bird (Ruby Kinglet) in the winter and now Lazuli Buntings. I'll have to get his books.

Bill's a delight in his store and seems to consider everyone who walks in as a friend and student, even a co-learner. There is a great kindness and a love-to-learn/teach/share atmosphere. Congratulations on these books - what a treat for all of us. Thank you!

My thoughts about Bill today are the same as they always have been: Where does he get the time to do all he does? He seems to be everywhere, educating people about birds. His store, as stated above, is friendly - and staffed, always, by very knowledgeable and "human" people. And Bill is tireless. It's evident, every time I run across him at some birding event, that he loves what he's doing. I'm certain he's making money from the store, and he will make tons of money from his new books. Good for him. But that's not, I think, what motivates him. The love of what he's doing is his motivation. And that's also, why birders, amateur and less-than-amateur, "flock" to him. Bird-on, Bill!

I bought his Utah book. It is great, just what I needed. Now, I can find the bird in the book that I want to learn about without wading through 800 choices.

I'll try his attractor tips this spring and summer. My children can use the book too. It's that easy to use.

I saw my first Bunting last year. It was pretty cool !

The Wild Bird Center is in a strip center between Toys-r-us and Target in Layton. Get off the Antelope Drive I-15 exit and go East. Turn into the Target Parking Lot and go towards Toys-R-US and you will see it towards the west. The store faces south so you can not see it from Antelope Drive.

I LOVE THIS SHOP!!! I buy bird food there that does not sprout or have hulls. I have never seen the quality of products and selection at any other store here in Utah. GOOD LUCK!!!

I have a question about what the birds in my yard have been doing. Does anyone know someone I could talk to about this issue? Does Mr. Fenimore still work in his store and does he take calls?
