I love uplifting stories such as this one. I love to see people succeed. What a great example. It gives me encouragement that maybe I too can accomplish difficult things, even at the age of 70. Hooray for the Principal!

We need more people like you -- not to mention more principals!

What a great goal. And what an example. Win/win for every one.

Wish there were more educators like this principal who could teach by example and involve students in a winning proposition that relates to real life, not only academia.

That's a great accomplishment and a great example for the students as well as the whole community. Keep going and maybe set your goal for the Salt Lake 5k or half marathon next April 2009.

"He has taken in all of his pants and recently discovered a stash of pants he had outgrown decades ago. And sure enough, they fit."

Too bad corduroy bell bottoms aren't in style right now.

This Principal has the stuff to return EHS to the school where kids want to come. In his first year he's been open and accessible. Hopefully, he always will be. His attitude is great, his personality genuine. I hope his positive attitude and energy rub off on all the staff and teachers. I hope his salary matches his abilities. Granite District's loss is EHS gain! GO EAST (75)

This is very inspirational and gives me hope that my children will be able to go to school in a system where there are still teachers and educators that care about leading from the front instead of sitting at the back.

My hat is off to you sir, well done indeed!

What a great story! Go East! Show 'em the stuff the Leopards are made of!

He is a great guy and an awesome principal. I love the quote about perserverence over intelligence. I hope he gets there and makes this a fun way to challenge students and keep up the fun at the school.

Nice story DN! I hope he can continue to lose the weight and keep it off. This might be the push I need to lose some extra pounds for myself.

Dr. Sagers, you are the best - and we all know it! Nice story.
