As a former junior teacher to Shawn I was blown away with this announcement. My memories of a small, skinny 7th grader have been brought into present day with the description of a 6' 4'' 320 pound young man! Go Shawn!
2 to 47 odds cut after 3 weeks with the great and might dolphins.
The draft articles have been horrible!!! They have been ridled with mistakes and inaccuracies. This is at least the fourth I have caught.
"He wasn't surprised when the Dolphins him because of the contact he had with them at the combine."
Is it just me or did the Aggies have twice as many players slected in the NFL draft than the utes and cougars put together?
Not sure where you are getting your info because the Miami gm (Ireland) in a post draft press conference was very clear in his statement that they anticipated Murphy challenging for the starting position at right guard. He also went on to say that they wouldn't have drafted him in the 4th round if they felt he could not contribute to the rotation this year. That isn't too shabby when you consider he was moved to the offensive line late in his college career. Your statement seems on par though for many posters. Usually when something positive happens to a local athlete, there is always someone on here to tear them down. It has happened so often with the high school athletes being ripped to shreds that this really doesn't surprise me.Too bad we don't have more people saying congrats and best of luck.
Shawn has wanted to play in the NFL his whole life. He won't be denied. He loves football. Nobody, even USU, at first would give him a scholarship when he got home from his mission and look where he is now. It isn't luck. It's good genes, good talent, lots of hard work and desire.
My odds on him making the Dolphins roster this year are about the reciprocal of the previous poster's odds 2 to 47. I'd say about 45 to 47 is more accurate. Anyone who thinks different doesn't know what they're talking about. Congratulations Shawn!!
Shawn Murphy used to work for me and has the most amazing work ethic and is very level headed. He's the most humble guy and has never used his dad as a stepping stone, he's busted his tail on his own and earned everything as a result of that work ethic. Also as a HUGE Dolphin Fan I'm excited. He will be a huge asset for a team that flopped last year.
This is the beginning of GREAT things to happen for my Dolphins. Congratulations Shawn, you've earned it. To those who can't seem to say anything good about a kid who's worked his tail off, get a life!
I'm one football fan that hopes an AGGIE will be blocking for a cougar, Beck got crushed last year. I'll be watching the Dolphins this year for all the local players on the team.
Congratulations Shawn
I've been a Dolphin fan as long as i can remember. Watching Griese and Csonka in the Orange Bowl with my dad and brother has left a lasting impression on me like no other. While watching the draft last weekend i was pleased to see my team picked Shawn Murphy whom i had on my personal draft board. Not only is he big and physical but he has his head on straight. Way to go Shawn...welcome to the family!!
