Green-collar job is hugely overstated and the jobs themselves are a farse. Cleaning solar panels with windex for $8 an hour? Give me a break. That's no path out of poverty.

I don't buy that green jobs are the path out of poverty. I do think that our country could lead the way with green technologies and reassert our dominance in the world. Competing with Third World countries in the manufacturing and textile industries is impossible, but we could compete in the green technology arena.

Speaking of economic and environmental intertwinement is to speak of the very essence of human existence and particularly human co-existence. The real challenge is to be recognized by ALL individuals of ALL communities, from the extreme wealthy to the extreme poor is that we all have a responsibility to create and contribute to the betterment of our lives which is the betterment of society. It is when Green Collar, Blue Collar and White Collar alike, all transcend the �self-absorbed� mentality is when we will see the positive results of the good intensions behind programs like the Green-Jobs, Go-Green and other environmental respect-worthy co-operative efforts.
