Great job Red Rocks!!!! Since the home university has a huge advantage, you probably are the best in the country. How does Georgia get the venue so often? The whole women's gymnastic organization should be excited about the finish. Keep up the great work!!

If you're referring to Georgia, you can direct your talk elsewhere.
Anonymous | 1:14 p.m. April 26, 2008
why is it that when Georgia wins there is so many sour grapes. when Utah won all Georgia said was we have to get better and be able to compete with UTAH.Maybe we need to get a little less hatefull.
Doggie | 1:28 p.m. April 26, 2008
Is it just me, but every time I see a story about this gymnastics team I want to gag. Are there really that many parents of gymnasts who care? I mean really. Is this even a sport? I know the U is having a hard time because their basketball and football teams blow, but gymnastics? Lets start giving this much ink to the U's chess club.
David | 3:03 p.m. April 26, 2008
Doggie - why not be appreciative of the fact that the state of Utah has a team that competes at such a world class level and almost wins a championship every year? Gymnasts are some of the most talented and athletic people in the world. Yes this is a sport - you sound like a complete fool to compare this to chess. If you don't like gymnastics, don't read the story. I can't help but wonder if you are a misogynist.

congrats on a great season redrocks! you make our school proud and farewell to all the seniors for a wonderful career here! good luck to all you do in the future!

Way to go RED ROCKS! You have been a lot of fun to watch this year as in all the past years. To be in second place is a great accomplishment. Not many other schools can even make it to nationals. (And how many make it every year!) Thanks for another great year!

To Doggie: Why don't you just stick to your own school and stay out of Utahs comments pages?
People like you need to get a life!!!
Larry Griffin | 11:09 p.m. April 26, 2008
I thought the RED ROCKS did a great job. Georgia is just that good and they only loose one really super star Katie Heenan and Courtney Kupets will be back from being injured to take her place. If someone realy steps up they might just win 5 in a row. I thought the Georgia fans were fare to all teams they just screamed for there team. Good luck next season.
Doggie | 11:58 p.m. April 26, 2008
Sorry to upset everyone. Im entitled to my opinion even if it offends the delicate sensibilities of all 17 or so gymnastics fans.

And David, no I do not appreciate that Utah has a highly ranked gymnastics team. In fact, its an embarassment. Its sort of like the Dutch taking pride in curling or hillbillies taking pride in spitting contests.

Isn't it just a big waste of money and time? Shouldn't we give these scholarships to the glee club, or the marching band?

Oh well.
Negative Comments | 11:56 p.m. April 26, 2008
What ground do people have to get on here and post such negative comments, i.e. Finally and Doggie? The Utes just took second for the third straight year. Although a bit disappointing that they havent taken the championship for a while, still very impressive.

Re: Anonymous, What sour grapes are you referring to? None are coming from U fans. Im thinking Finally is a Georgia fan and Doggie is a BYU fan.

Red Rocks, Congrats on a great year. Bring the championship back to Utah next year!
Re: Doggie | 12:35 a.m. April 27, 2008
For your information, Utah averaged nearly 13,000 attendees per meet this year. That is more than any other school. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion (as stupid as it may be) but let me give you some advise know what you are talking about before you run your mouth and make yourself look foolish. all 17 or so gymnastics fans

Here is my opinion: gymnasts are great athletes. Here is another: the Red Rocks have accomplished far more in their short lives than you ever will. Youre pathetic to debase others because of because of either your low self esteem or exceeding arrogance.
Go Utes | 8:41 p.m. April 27, 2008
The Utah Gymnastics team is wonderful and very talented. I've loved going to all of the meets now for many years. Keep up the great work Red Rocks! You are loved and we appreciate your incredible talent and beauty.
Re: Doggie | 8:47 p.m. April 27, 2008
When was the last time you were ever able to just walk across a balance beam, let alone perform major tumbling moves on it without falling off? Do you have the strength and flexibility these gymnasts have? Probably not!

Has there been a more successful sports program in the state of Utah? Pro, college, or high school?
fcbenjamin | 1:41 p.m. April 28, 2008
Dear Doggie,
Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, and we thousands of loyal Lady Ute fans are entitled to our opinions of your opinion.

The last I heard, the Utah gymnastics program was one of the very few in the nation that was operating "in the black", as in producing revenue, not eating it up. Which means the Lady Utes support the chess club. Why don't you go give your opinion of women's gymnastics to the Georgia Gym Dogs. They could use the laugh. And when you finish second in the nation at anything, please let us know. We promise to applaud appropriately.
