Jordan negotiators craft a new proposal

I would hope that both transition teams can approve the latest proposal. The four people chosen to negociate (Nielsen and Horst from the West, and Sanderson and Shelton from the East) are true and capable professionals. But, because certain politicans when the West's transition team (who, in my opinion, are more concerned with advancing their own popularity rather than seeing these two new school districts succeed) choose to reject the earlier proposal, I would not be surprised to see them reject this one as well.

It is unfortunate that the makeup of the west-side team includes elected officials and politicians. It never was supposed to be that way. The primary responsibility of the transition teams was to divide up assets and liabilities. The committees were supposed to include attorneys, CPAs and other professionals who were not beholden to political interests and could take an aseptic approach to the process. I can only hope that certain members of the west-side team can set aside their political interests and ambitions and look solely at the merits of the proposal -- rather than worry about how they can sell the plan politically to their constituents.
