Comments about ‘Like drama? Check out GOP games’

Utah County GOP delegates, Utah needs some fresh faces in the Capitol. The old ones have become too complacent and they need a little competition to remind them to whom they are responsible. If the same ones return, you can guarantee we'll be seeing some Democrats winning these legislative seats. Don't risk it, Utahns are sick of the lack of ethics coming from Utah County and the rest of us will support the Dems so it doesn't happen again.

My first choice: A competent ethical conservative. Republican would be great.
My second choice: A competent ethical conservative. 3rd party will do.
My third choice: An ethical liberal, Republican or Democrat.
MY NEVER CHOICE: CURT BRAMBLE OR ANY OTHER UNETHICAL POWERMONGERING POLITICIAN OF ANY PHILOSOPHY OR PARTY AFFILIATION -- EVEN IF (OR ESPECIALLY) IF REPUBLICAN.

What Utah County needs is to elect some Democrats. The Utah County Democrats have found some of the best candidates either party has seen in years. Want to send a message? Vote Democrat. We will all be better off.

End the scandals that embarras the party and all Utah County residents. Throw out the incumbents! The Republican challengers can certainly be no worse than we already have!

The same type of shenanigans seem to be happening outside of Utah County. I'm a Salt Lake County Republican living in the Draper / South Sandy area and its alleged that the challenger to the House incumbent was pressured by certain members of Party leadership to drop out so he (the incumbent) would not face an inter-party challenge. If this is true, then this is very disconcerting.

In my opinion (for what its worth):

1. Term limits (which was repealed in 2003 by the Utah legislature) needs to be reinstated so that new faces with fresh and creative ideas can be given a chance to serve, while the "professional politicians" (who are not representing the public but rather themselves) can find something else to do),

2. The number of requested bills (which last year topped 1,100, representing thousands of legal-ease pages) needs to be capped so the legislators can actually read what they are voting on, and

3. Measures to open the process (such as repealing the exception to the Open & Public Meetings Act the legislature carved out for itself) need to be passed.

If these things could happen (and a few others that can't be listed because of lack of space) then, in my opinion (again, for what its worth) we could see true ethics reform, end many of the games that leadership play, and restore the public's confidence in our legislative process.

I wish this party would NOT elect any incumbents. The only way to clean it up is to get rid of Curt Bramble. He is the high cholestrol that is ready to turn into a heart attack for the political process in Utah. None of his friends should be elected either. NONE! This party has gone to crap!
