Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the new toll road from Layton to the south end of the valley into Utah county supposed to alleviate the Redwood Road traffic? UDOT needs to put more efforts into the east west flow of traffic accross the major north south roads. And since when has Utah and developement cared about wildlife? Is UDOT going to put up signs along this section of road in deer language directing the wildlife to these underpasses? The new roads and developement should be enough to kill off any wildlife that is still living in the area so the underpasses seem moot. Wouldn't it be more humanitarian to do what was done with the buffalo, open season killing to any and all wildlife in areas that can be developed or used to establish new homes and business? We should force developers to re-use established areas. It would be in the best interest of the cities and developers if they didn't have to compete with wildlife to develope open range. I'm trying to be sarcastic on this subject so only the offended can see the other side of growth, for the good of the community (city tax base).
Having lived in Eagle Mountain I think all the affected residents would welcome this widening project. Unless it turns into another Bangerter Highway, in that every 1/2 to 3/4 mile there is going to be a traffic light because the local communities want to increase the influx of property taxes from commercial development. The two lanes were nice 'cause it was a straight shot from EM to BH. Hope it will be allowed to continue that way.
Bike Lanes
In addition to the existing two vehicle lanes, they will add two bike lanes and a wildlife lane... There's your five lanes. (sarcasm intended)
I want a freeway to my front door.
Pay taxes for 'em
hmm well looks like us south utah county citys get the shaft agin. i guess maybe in another 20 years we will get an up grade. it use to take 5 mins to get from provo to spanish fork. lol now its like 30 min, bumper to bumper. glad my taxes help out salt lake lol
Just another great UDOT idea that will slow things up for 10 years during construction because they are "working" on a thousand other jobs. Why don't you just focus on ONE of a FEW projects, UDOT, rather than so many? How many workers do you have anyway? 2 or 3 per project? Let's gather the troops and focus on a few things to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time!
Road work is never fun but it can definitely say it will be well worth it. Having easier and quicker access Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain will help property values go up. And the road will be very, very nice.
Way to go UDOT. I remember back in the day when ALL of Salt Lake was unhappy with UDOT because of the I-15 reconstruction. Now the freeway is amazing.
DB, there's so much construction going on because we're growing so fast and our infrastructure was subpar for so long. All these construction projects are going on because they need to be done. The 2005-2010 period is just a huge construction spurt and will mean that some of these projects won't have to be done in the future. The execution and coordination of the projects in questionable, but really, they're all needed.
