DNR's across the country have been underestimating deer herds and managing herds
too conservatively leading to an ever rising population. It is no surprise to me
that society is tired of it and this is one way to apply pressure to the correct
place, the DNR's who aren't doing enough to hold herds in check. I'm from IL
where we currently have a state sponsored task force to look at ways to reduce
the population. Almost all sportsmen are mad about it, but they are the same
ones who talk about passing numerous deer annually waiting for the "right" one
or who constantly say there's not too many deer where they hunt. Of course most
deer hunters always want more deer not less. But this is the consequences of
that kind of thinking.
I totally agree...In what world is hitting a deer the sportsman's fault???
This is the reason no-one in my family hunts anymore. It is so expensivem and such a hassle to get all the permits, drawings, etc. anymore.
Not like 'the good old days', when you hunted for the meat to help feed your family
