Grant A -

You said that Joseph Smith criticized the leaders (meaning that he attacked their character and them personally as individuals) of other churches in his day because he said their hearts were essentially "far from God"? Can your argument of how the LDS church attacks other faiths be more weak or ridiculous?

It is entirely possible to attack one's beliefs without attacking the "owner" of the beliefs. How? Because what we DO (or in this case, what we believe) is entirely separate from who we are. That is true for Mormons and non-Mormons alike. Christ did it in his day. As someone already pointed out, go look at all the harsh things Christ had to say about the Saducees and Pharisees of His day. And I do mean "harsh". Christ didn't pull any punches. Ever.

If someone's religious beliefs ARE wrong/not true, then they just ain't true and all the arguing and hoping in the world can't change that. And, if you'll look at Joseph's history honestly, he actually said very, very little about other churches as "wrong" because he spent soooo much time saying his revelations on religion were "right".

It's encouraging to me to read this string and see so many faithful LDS members reply to our antagonists. When Romney was running for President I was quite surprised by how many anti-LDS posts were on DesNews strings. I wondered if we were being flooded by non-LDS people in and out of Utah who had an axe to grind against the Church. My suspicions were confirmed when I read some of the posts immediately after Romney announced he was suspending his campaign. One guy said he was a gay from back East who hated the LDS church because he was mad that Romney, in his opinion, had "turned his back on gays after campaigning to help them" and so he said he and other homosexuals camped out on LDS blogs/strings to "hurt Mormons because they hurt him". Oh brother.....

The bottom line is the Church is true and anyone, repeat ANYONE, can learn that for themselves (and thank God for that!) if they will only humbly and honestly seek the truth. For those who hate the LDS faith, like Nephi, we will love our enemies but pay no heed to your blind hatred.

Conference was great!

The caravan moves on!.....

Wow the more I read these types of articles and the comments of the brethren, I am beginning to see the insecurity of the church and its members; and the propaganda that must be created and published in order to keep the flock in order. Very very cultish.

To all true believers, there must only be one and to make it very clear to all involved---Greek Mythology is true; I have prayed on it and have a testimony to this fact.

Actual REAL membership sits at about 4,000,000. Dont believe it when you are told about other inflated figures because they include the lost and all those who have nothing more to do with the Church. On the other hand size shouldnt have anything to do with the 'truth' of the Church. Should it?

Brian. How were you allowed to print your article? I couldn't get anything I say to show up, and I didn't even have any cuss words, just my opinions.

To Dan Maloy,

Thank you. You have just rationalized yourself into a confession that Mormons are NOT Christian. They are a cult.

Well done.

To Brian ------ Great Comment

I am with you 100%. I have studied both Greek mythology and the LDS Church doctrine and find Greek mythology the truer and more rational of both.

I am Buddhist but if I had to pick between LDS and Greek mythology; you bet I be calling Zeus my heavenly father.

It is nice that the LDS church helps people and so forth but I do not think a press release is needed for each faith promoting experience as there are other religious and nfp orgs that give a whole lot more and dont look for recognition.

It looks a whole lot like pride, stature and recognition that the LDS church and LDS individuals are trying to achieve and that is just wrong; and as many like to say "that is just 'NOT Christ like"

No, it shouldn't. I just find it funny how for decades and decades, people have been predicting the sudden demise of the LDS Church. After Fawn Brodie released her book "No Man Knows My History" people were predicting it would destoy Mormonism. The same thing after Ed Decker released his film "The God Makers."

It really doesn't prove anything, except that some LDS critics have often jumped the gun.

I know that not all 13-million LDS Church members on record are active, temple-going Latter-day Saints. No one is in any way disputing that. I personally think 4-million is a little low, but it's probably close. Some Latter-day Saints attend church, but aren't involved much beyond that.

And NO, the LDS Church does NOT include deceased people who have had their temple work done. If that were the case, the number would be around 113-million.

Isn't the line:

If you wonder if you belong to a cult, then you do.

I live on Exmoor, Somerset, England and celebrate 40 years of being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this year.

I hadn't heard of the Church until the missionaries knocked on my parents door. I had to travel approx 25 miles to Hyde Park Chapel in London as that was the nearest baptismal font. I was confirmed with the power of the Holy Ghost (baptism of fire) in the Mission Home, Exhibition Road, London. Which has been my guide, companion and protector.

I have always had to travel distances to attend Church and for the last 7 years have had to travel 46 miles round trip to Church on a Sunday to teach Gospel Doctrine.

It is good to know Where you have come from, Why you are here and Where you are going.

To have the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ once more upon the earth in its simplicity and purity that a child can understand it is "Wonderful in Mine Eyes" and is "Gods Doing" (quoting Elizabeth I)

I have always known that God the Father and Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are as powerful and active to-day as they were anciently.

Hello! I'm from Russia :) I just wanted to say that I know with all my heart that this Church is true. The Church is still not very big here in Russia, but I can see how it grows and I can feel how God works to let it grow. And I know that someday all the people who are against the Church will also know that it's true. I was also kind of against it when I first learned about it. But now I love the Church soooooooo much, and I love the Gospel, and I love living it. I know that God loves each one of us and we are all His children :))))))))))))
