YEAH | 8:31 a.m. April 8, 2008
Another Division crown to hang in the rafters......who cares!! It's time for championships already. However, I think we have missed our opportunity to secure home court for the playoffs unless the Jazz can do something we haven't done all year, win on the road. Good thing the jazz will be locked into the four spot. I am predicting a 6th place overall finish in the west. (Not much of a prediction at this point!)We will see if the Jazz are going to be a threat in the playoffs by watching the next three road games? Hopefully the Jazz will show us something more than what we are used to at this point. Go Memo!!

Seems the past couple of years have had big games against Houston, this year is no different. Go Jazz! Go Sinan!
Sinan | 9:19 a.m. April 8, 2008
To tell you the truth i won't send my comment before the game but i saw my name and needed to thank "CAUTIOUSLY OPTOMISTIC" to remember me as a good fan of the Jazz. Thanks again. It's very good to have good friends in here. I hope one day i'll be able to watch a game of the Jazz alltogether.

GO CO , GO MEMO, GO JAZZZZZZZZZ

Getting the number one spot in the West is a stretch, but catching up with San Antonio and getting a home court advantage in the event we play them is not out of reach. Since we play so poorly on the road, especially against the Spurs, this would significant.
SantaBarbaraJazzFn | 10:02 a.m. April 8, 2008
Jazz have no chance of getting the #1 seed. Stick with the 4th seed and be thankful. Hope Houston grabs the the 5th and New Orleans the #1 seeds. Good luck, go Jazz.

Anything is possible. In any game. And especially once the playoffs start.

After the KU win last night, every one of the Jayhawk players thanked their coach for keeping them calm and focused in O.T. They said he told them one thing, "Believe."

jazz suck | 10:19 a.m. April 8, 2008
the jazz shouldnt deserve a divison title. they have no offense and cant stop anybody on defense. NUGGETS all the way!!!!!!!!!!
King-Black | 10:30 a.m. April 8, 2008
No offense the Jazz score 106.9 points a game. Denver 110.6 points a game, but the Jazz only give up 99.8 points a game compared to Denver's 107 points they give up a game. Considering that Denver cant stop anybody on defense o and by the way Utah haves the best Average Point Difference in the West. and 3rd best in the league at +7.1
Carl | 10:48 a.m. April 8, 2008
Go Jazz!!!

I read these comments more to see what Sinan has to say than anything else. I can't imagine getting up at 4 AM to watch the Jazz or any one else. I think I'd tape the game on the VCR. Sinan is the ultimate Jazz fan (or Okur fan?). Makes you just want to meet the guy doesn't it?
Nuggets miss playoffs. | 11:10 a.m. April 8, 2008
The Nuggets are not even in the playoffs yet. No wonder Denever and Golden State our battling for the last spot in the west, they are 2 worst defensive teams in the NBA.( Check the Stats) The Jazz will throttle the Nuggets this Saturday by 27 just like they did a few weeks ago. The Jazz put up 132 points against the relentless Nugget defense. AI has not played defense on anyone for about 5-6 years now. Start rooting for the Rockies now because the Nuggets are done.
Question | 11:11 a.m. April 8, 2008
I'm becoming a new JAZZ fan, and enjoy reading about them. Who is Sinan?
to jazz suck | 11:25 a.m. April 8, 2008
How can you say the Jazz suck when they have secured a playoff spot and 1 more win secures a division title over the Nuggets? I hate people like you that say someone sucks cause they don't like them. The Jazz have clearly been the better team between the Jazz and the Nuggets the last 2 seasons. Get over yourself and face reality. THE JAZZ ARE BETTER THAN THE NUGGETS.
Road Stats | 11:37 a.m. April 8, 2008
Here's a stat that no one seems to be talking about:

if you throw out the road losses to the bottom 8 teams in the East and the bottom 3 teams in the West, the Jazz actually have a 16-9 road record (.640 winning percentage). Also, they have a winning road record since 1 Jan, with 13 of their road losses coming before this time.

The biggest problem with the Jazz this year (as with most years in franchise history) is that they play down to the level of their competition. I don't remember the exact percentage off the top of my head, but the Jazz have one of the top two winning percentages in the NBA this year versus the top teams, and if you take the losses to Portland out of the mix, they have the best record against all other teams still in the playoff hunt.

We may not get homecourt, but the Jazz are one of the hottest teams going into the playoffs, and if they play even half as good as they did in the second half against the Spurs, they will be able to beat most teams on their home courts.

HORNETS FAN HERE I HAVE ONE THING TO SAY TO UTAH!!!
NEW ORLEANS WANT THERE NAME BACK!!!!
Rich | 12:39 p.m. April 8, 2008
I'm not optimistic the Jazz will end up as regular-season Wewstern Conference champs because it's out of their control. If the teams ahead of them keep winning, the Jazz can't overtake them. Only an ignorant fool would say they have no chance of ending up on top when there most definitely is a chance. What chance did Davidson have of making the Elite Eight? The answer is 100% -- nobody knew it before the fact, however. Anyway, I'm optimistic about the Jazz in the playoffs. They have proved that they can compete with the best teams, and they have won some huge road games this year. Also, the team defense has improved markedly lately with Boozer willing to leave his man when necessary and finally trusting somebody else to "help the helper." Plus Price is a huge defensive shot in the arm, and if the Jazz end up meeting a team with a superior penetrating guard, we know we can stick Price on him and let Darren guard the opponent's shooting guard. I continually hear that the playoffs are all about matchups. With the strongest bench in the league, the Jazz can match up with anybody.
To Road Stats: | 12:44 p.m. April 8, 2008
Great comment, thanks for the info. I was thinking along with you. The Jazz play to the level of the teams they play, thankfully none of the crappy teams are going to be in the playoffs, so the Jazz should do really well. They have the best record against all the teams in the western playoff race, that accounts for something. Tonight will be a great game, and no matter how they end the season, they always bring it for the playoffs.

@ Darren

Too late buddy, you should have said something 30 years ago. Frankly, I wish you would have, but it's too late now.

Here's an Idea, lets get L.H. Miller and George Shinn together and they can make a bet. If the Hornets beat the Jazz tonight then the franchises will swap names, if the Jazz win you trade us Tyson Chandler for AK straight up. What do you think?

RE: Darren the Hornets Fan.

Maybe you and your weak fan base shouldn't have let the Jazz leave in the first place. Do you think the "Lakers" were named for anything in LA? How about the "Grizzlies", or next year's "Sonics"?

RE: Question | 1:46 p.m. April 8, 2008
Sinan is a great Jazz fan who lives in the country of Turkey. He has traveled hundreds of miles to watch the Jazz on TV. He is always optimistic, and of course loves Memet Okur. He posts regularly, and the way he posts is delightful.
Sinan | 1:57 p.m. April 8, 2008
The game with NO is at 3 am and Dallas is at 3:30 am. Both of them is live on NBATV. No doubt i'll be in front of my TV and have great enjoy. Nothing else is more exciting to watch the game live instead of watching it on tape.

I don't care who else the Jazz beat in these last five games as long as the beat the Hornets tonight. I'm really getting tired of hearing how great Chris Paul is and how he will be the MVP this year. Deron is just as good and they keep overlooking his talent as a point guard. I also like the way our bench has playing CJ,Matt,Paul,Jarron ,Kyle and even Morris Almond can all give the team points. Good Luck tonight guys !Gooo Jazz!!!
WJ | 2:03 p.m. April 8, 2008
If we're going to swap names, maybe we could make them:

New Orleans Jazz
Charlotte Hornets
Utah Bobcats

And for football:
Utah Saints (Arena)
New Orleans Blaze (Pro)

:)

RE: Question | 2:16 p.m. April 8, 2008
I assume from the postings that Sinan is a male. Could be female. It doesn't matter, everyone will soon be a Jazz fan!

Also, in response to all of D-Will's critics, consider this: Deron Williams is something like 7-2 when he and Chris Paul play head to head. Go ahead and say that Williams has the better supporting cast; my response is that Williams supporting cast is better because of him. Paul is a "numbers" guy. In general, Williams has outplayed every other top-notch point guard this year. This includes Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Jason Kidd, Chauncey Billups, Baron Davis... (those widely considered to be the best PG's in the league). Statistics are a great way to measure things, but so many people appear to be dismissing heart, desire, competitiveness, and in some respect wins. Here is Williams record against them this season: 13-2 (his only losses coming on the road to Phoenix and New Orleans).
Williams vs. Nash: 2-1
Williams vs. Paul: 2-1
Williams vs. Kidd(Dallas/New Jersey): 2-0
Williams vs. Billups: 2-0
Williams vs. Davis: 3-0

Re: Coach K

What are you thinking? Coach K can't win at the colllege level with all the talent in the world. No way could he win with the Jazz who have average talent and players.
44JOHN | 3:07 p.m. April 8, 2008
Who said the flopping nuggets are a team? First of all a team is more than playing one mand ball like flopiverson and melo cryanthony. as a team where do they sit in the standing"s? So much for the thugetts. And as for the Hornets wanting their name back you couldn't handle the name when they were there thats why they move to a state that could. So stop whinning about and start whinning about how bad you lose tonight. D-will over cp3 again. Same old story head to head D-will rocks cp3.
TJ | 3:14 p.m. April 8, 2008
there is no way Coack K will ever leave Duke. The Lakers offered to make him the highest paid coach in professional sports and he turned them down. How can you be so dumb and post such a dumb thing like that?
Division Title | 3:47 p.m. April 8, 2008
congrats to jerry sloan for another "division title". This is the pinicle of jerry's carrer- division title. The jazz should be embarressed to put up another banner for this, I mean, there are only 5 teams in this division and 2 of them are minny and seattle and the jazz are really 6th in the west.

I guess jerry will never win anything other than coach of the month and Northwest Division championship. So, congrats jerry on another season of disappointment and underacheiving.

what about hornacek coaching the jazz, somewhere down the road? wouldn't that be larry's style?
WJ | 4:26 p.m. April 8, 2008
re:Division Title

A few facts:

With Stockton and Malone (and a mature team) Sloan's team was the Western Conference champion twice. They missed #1, but #2 in the NBA is pretty good.

The Jazz are a young, rebuilding team. They made it to the Western Conference Finals last year. They will have more regular season wins this year than last year. Regardless of how they do in the playoffs this year, they will continue to improve.
