With all the teenaged girls who are pregnant there, Texas has stepped up and done what Utah and Arizona refuse to - follow the law. The children, in all likelihood, are scarred for life. The brainwashing they've undergone since near birth may not be able to be reversed.

I bet the number of pregnant teens in the compound is almost as many as the high school down the street. Texas should take the hight school kids away from their mothers! Texas should have done it right and found the men that are responsible and leave the women and children alone...they are the victims in this and now they are also the victims of the State of Texas.

Shame on you, "shame." The girls we're talking about here are teenagers who were forced to marry people young enough, in some cases, to be their grandfathers. While I don't like the concept of teenaged pregnancy, the idea of forced marriages and pregnancy is even more abhorrent. And that's what it is - forced marriage. It's more than that - it's RAPE! Are you condoning that?

How many of those pregnant teens in "the high school down the street" conceived with 50+ year old men who told them if they didn't comply that their souls would be doomed?
Rule of law | 12:59 p.m. April 8, 2008
I don't think anybody is condoning Rape, but that doesn't mean we throw out our constitutional rights and the rule of law.

Why did they need to break down the doors and desicrate the Temple? I thought churches were supposed to be a place of "Sanctuary". Just a few months ago I read an article about an illegal alien lady who the government and everone (through the media) knew about but police couldn't touch her or talk to her for months or years because she had taken refuge in a California church. They had to wait until she came out and then she was arrested.

But this Temple (which wasn't hiding any children) MUST be desicrated??? For what purpose? Just to stomp on ANYTHING the FLDS community holds sacred?

I'm not condoning Rape, but I also don't condone violating American citizen's civil rights.

If you have evidence of a crime, prosecute that crime (specifically NOT collectively), don't just go into a community and take all their kids because there are rumors some families have violated the law.

People talk like every teenager in this town is pregnant. Does anyone know how many teen pregnancies were found in the raid? Any?

What you folks seem to fail to realize, it is against TEXAS law to marry a girl under the age of 16. It is considered rape and abuse. That is the law here. We don't take kindly to people abusing children in that fashion. I don't think the Baptists Methodists, or any other organized religions support this train of thought let alone allow it to happen. The exception is of course the Catholic Church and its priests. You won't hear of too many Baptists doing this kind of crap. Yes there is an issue of pregnant teens but a majority are pregnant by male teenagers. Not exactly pedophiles like the members of this FLDS sect. I would think that the LDS Church would stand up against this kind of activity in a very vocal way. It makes the regular LDS Church look very bad.
Biological and Social Facts | 9:08 p.m. April 8, 2008
If God had meant a 13 year old girl not to be pregnant he would not have given her the gift of the ability to conceive a child.

If God had meant only young men to father children and be husbands he would have given them all the money and stopped their production of sperm when they became 25 years of age.

So now that all 401 young women and children have been kidnapped, take them to New York City, Austin, or any Baptist dominated suburb you what for the next year. THEN ask them whether they want to return to their original home.

Whatever they answer, follow their will and let them be in peace.

When you're used to having twelve wives, I guess you automatically need twelve lawyers.

Biological and Social Facts,

While some 13 year olds is physically capable of conceiving, most are not physically developed enough to carry to term without damage to their own health. And rape is illegal, and that is what this is...rape when an adult male impregnates a 13 year old.

And why is the local high schools pregnancy rate an issue in this case: it's simply not. Red herring, and a weak one at that.

As for the temple, I don't know why it was raided, and I believe the government can be over zealous (nice words), so I reserve judgement on that point. But little girls being raped? BIG JUDGEMENT coming down on that.
