The residents of Alpine and Highland are successful and productive people who contribute a lot to the state through taxes. The entire state benefits from our work. We deserve this express lane.

The sense of entitlement from Anonymous is astounding. Writing-off the other hardworking people who happen to earn less than you do and who cannot afford to live where you do is truly prejudicial and is not warranted in any kind of situation. Equality deserves to shine and it's a shame that you've brought something as necessary as a road into the Caste mold you're seeking to create. Get over yourself. And, so you can see my point of view, I am not in the lower income brackets. I DO NOT, however, feel any more sense of entitlement to increased government services because of that. I relish my wonderfully diverse neighborhood that is economically affordable to people employed in many different areas and which is home to many different socio-economic levels. Get over yourself and reacquaint yourself with society. That's what the state needs, not a few more of your tax dollars!

Wow anonymous, you "deserve" this express lane? Why is that?

You CHOSE to live out in the middle of nowhere. You CHOSE to have a horrendously long commute. You CHOSE to spend a fortune on gas because of your long commute.

Personally I think you "deserve" to sit in traffic - that's the price you pay for living in a large home in a far-off suburb.

I agree with WOW. Anonymous, I may not pay as much in taxes as you do, or I may pay more. It doesn't matter. Each tax dollar counts the same. My guess is you drive a fancy car and pay the extra for premium fuel. I suppose that makes you more entitled to get around more without traffic congestion than those of us that have chosen to live a more modest lifestyle, even though we earn a very nice salary. As a Lehi(aspiring to live in Alpine or Highland, NOT)resident I use that road frequently and welcome the extra lanes. It has been needed for a long time. Sorry to disappoint anonymous, but this road will be for all of us.

You know, based on traffic volumes, I would think that the Bangerter Highway would be better justified for addition of express lanes. (It should have been a freeway from the start.) I support adding lanes on SR 92, but how in the world does UDOT set priorities?

Alpine hwy over Bangerter Hwy? I agree with Perplexed, bangerter should have been a freeway from the start. Speaking on SL County, the East side has plenty of freeways, and the West side which will have a much bigger population than the east side is stuck with Bangerter Hwy and all the stupid traffic lights on it. Seriously the stop on that street are bad for gas, brakes, pollution, traffic, etc.... I live on the west side of Riverton and I just can't imagine the alpine hwy getting more attention than west side S.L. County. How about we turn Bangerter into a freeway, turn 12600 s / 10400 s / 9000 s/ and the future 11400 s into these expressways. Goodness the state and Udot...get on it!

I agree with you that Bangerter should be first for innovative solutions and earrly investment. The Mountainview Freeway will not do enough to releive congestion on the west side.

The light rails are a joke when it comes to alleving congestion. UTA's own studies show the West Valley TRAX line will do exactly NOTHING. The Final Study for that rail claims to reduce vehicle miles traveled by a whopping 0.00%. And, it will only have a total long term cost of $750 million according to UTA's Mick Crandall.

In Sandy-Draper we desperately need the Highland Drive extension through the middle of our cities to connect to I-15. Instead, UTA is getting the exact amount needed for Highland Drive to spend on the Draper TRAX extension that will impact transportation 1,150 trips a day, a great big 0.01% regional impact.

There is no rationality or balance to transportation planning and spending.

It is all hype, empire building, and politics.
