Is anyone else as disappointed in this season as I am? At least we are finally getting Wicked but I am not sure about renewing my season ticket package.
I am; and I am guessing that this version of Wicked will be stripped down like most of the big blockbusters are.
What i am really looking forward to are the local productions of Wicked which probably won't be for a while - and the Producers, which is next month (at pmt)
These are all new shows, WICKED will be the same show that is playing major markets like Chicago and Denver, not a bit different as was the case with Les Miserables, The Producers and Mamma Mia. To imply otherwise is incorrect. You might be confusing these shows with some of the local productions being done in Southern Utah and the University of Utah.
There are currently four US productions of Wicked - New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and the National Tour which is booked for April 2009 at the Capitol Theatre.
Wicked is going to be the same scale as it is anywhere else. The producers of the show say everyone across the U.S.A. deserves to see it in all its glory. They have the same sets, brilliant casts, and amazing lighting. I have seen two different stops of the tour in Denver, and in Tempe, and I have also seen the Los Angeles production. All are great quality and the tour is definitely brilliant.
When do single tickets go on sale for wicked?? I've heard so many wonderful things aobut this show and I am so excited
If you are a season ticket holder for Broadway across America I have heard as soon as end of May beginning of June. If you are not it will be towards the end of this year. Plus they have the lottery for every performance. 2 1/2 hours prior to showtime they do a drawing for front row seats for $25. So you could definitely try for that to.
Cant wait!
WICKED is the untold story of the witches of oz. The story STARTS off with Glinda coming down in her bubble to visit the citizens of Oz who are celebrating the death of the Wicked Witch of the West. The story then takes a trip back in time to when Elphaba the soon to be "Wicked Witch of the West" and Galinda the soon to be "Good witch of the North" get paired up in college as roomates. The two, who at first loathe eachother, grow and develop a strong friendship. Based on the beloved childrens story The Wizard of Oz, WICKED has something everyone in the family will love, you will learn how the cowardly lion became cowardly, and why those ruby slippers meant so much to the not so Wicked Witch of the West. Join these two unlikely friends as they journey to the Emerald City and meet the "not so wonderful" Wizard of Oz, and soon you will really see that so much happened long before Dorothy dropped in. Don't miss your chance to see this spell-binding and magical blockbuster when it comes to Salt Lake's Capitol Theater April 8-May 3!
