microphone - you can actually understand the words he is saying. Also his voice is distinctive. I know
the judges think they can make more money off David
Cook but they better look again. He is just another
rocker - they all sound the same. You can put David
Archuleta on the stage with any great singer and he
will be a compliment to them. I don't care if he
doesn't dance around - I don't want to see him dance, I want to hear him sing.
As he matures in the music business, he'll step things up a bit regarding performances. As he said in an interview, he admires Michael Jackson because "he's the king of performing". He'll come up with stuff to entertain people when he starts doing concerts.
I'd prefer him to have performers dancing behind him while he stands there and blows my socks off with that INCREDIBLE voice of his. Love this kid so much! What's not to love?!
I agree with julie above. You can often really feel the Spirit when David sings (depending on the song, primarily). I pointed that out to my sister Saturday when I showed her David's last performance when he sang "Smokey Mountain Memories".
Paula said, "You have a beautiful aura about you. You're just glorious! You really are." I said, "She doesn't know it, but she's feeling the Spirit!!"

David Archuleta hit it OUT of the PARK this week! His rendition of "Smokey Mountain Memories" was just exquisite! The underlying story on this site has a link to his performance, and it's definitely worth your time and trouble to go watch it. I like it even better than his "Imagine" that was so beautifully done even Yoko Ono(!) called the show's producer to say she loved it.
This kid has a big future in the music industry. His voice is just amazing! It's so pure, so heartfelt and soulful. Plus, he has an incredibly endearing personality and is just plain adorably cute.
You hear that he has a big fan base of tweens, but his support is far more broad than that. Actually, 30% of his supporters are male, and 70% are female. Age-wise, only 30% of his fans are 17 and under, 27% are 18-30, 42% are over 30 years of age.
If David doesn't win American Idol, there is definitely something rotten in Denmark! He'll be signed to a major lable, regardless. Go, David!
