FYI for those who haven't been inside - the stadium is absolutely incredible. There's literally not a bad seat in the house, and in fact the upper deck seats might be some of the best. And for those who have club-level season tickets, you get a private patio for outdoor dining where you can watch the game.
I'm waiting to see what the local prudes think about Budweiser being a sponsor. Budweiser signage will be clearly and prominently displayed throughout the stadium, and will probably be visible from outside. I'm as LDS as they come but I have no problem with this......hopefully my more serious-minded brothers and sisters don't get too bent out of shape.
This is where the stadium's success will be measured. The attendance projections were mostly red herring. People don't like to think that a relative handful of corporate fatcats are what make these ventures successful, but they are. If the suites are full, and the sponsors are on board, the team will do well.
Glad they can score somewhere. They don't do it much on the field.
That's all soccer fans need is more Budweiser. It helps get the riots going. I hope these new sponsors are helping pay for the stadium so the taxpayers don't have to.
yeah because US soccer fans are known for being rabid homicidal maniacs like the rest of the world huh? with that logic every american football stadium in the country should be careful, lots of booze there!
It's not the Bud that causes the riots, it's the Bud combined with the sport. The reason soccer fans riot is because watching soccer is so agitating that by the end of the game everyone needs to vent.
feed me, Feed Me, FEED ME!!!!!! GRRRRRR!!!!
That will be sweet when the new stadium opens..I dont even care much for soccer but I'll go check out a game just for fun..
When can we convert that stadium into a MLB stadium? That way I can feel better about my spent tax dollars.
All these "my taxes funding the stadium" comments are awesome! It reminds me of my 3yr old son that says something that he thinks is clever. If it's funny, he'll say it again and again and again. After hearing the same thing 40 times, it just isn't funny or clever anymore.
Here's a suggestion... Get some new material, cause this whole "soccer is boring because I say so", and "my tax dollars are funding this stadium"(which they aren't) blurbs are getting quite old.
It has been addressed hundreds of times, that it's not your taxes unless you as a Utah resident take your family on vacation to a hotel in Utah and rent your car there. So when your only complaint is an incorrect one, it just makes the soccer-haters seem all that much more dumb and uninformed.

Why do you want to see MLB in Utah? Is your life too exciting? Do you need something to help you "take the edge off"?
By the way, the stadium is 100% privately financed. That's a fact - look it up.
Don't know why you'd need a stadium to give you what baseball gives you. You could just have some peanuts while watching paint dry and get the same effect....
First off, any haters out there should realize that this stadium and this soccer team are the main lasting thing outside of the Olympics that makes Salt Lake City into an internationally recognized city. The best sports franchise in the world is coming here ... again. The USA has played and more than likely will play more World Cup Qualifiers here. The club plays in the WORLD's SPORT, not just this country but the ENTIRE world. Everyone in this city and state should support our club, the colors of the U and BYU are in this one club ... it's ours now support it with everything you have because it is and will become one of our greatest worldwide symbols!
But.. but... but... you CAN'T tell me that the "my tax dollars" line isn't factual and that I can't use it anymore... It's all I've got! IT'S ALL I'VE GOT!!! *cry*
I live in Vegas and can't wait to drive up to a game in the new stadium sometime. I've never been to an RSL game, but I am a soccer fan in general. I've been to Galaxy games in L.A., and while their stadium is sweet, I hear this venue in Sandy will be even nicer. Can't wait to come on up and catch an evening of Real football there.
I like you Vegas resident, your a good guy in my book.
And don't forget all the Texans coming over to join you and applaud RSL.
We've been in your city and state several times, and we've only encountered nice, gentle, hospitable residents all over.
Why there are some soccer-bashers-haters in Utah, is beyond comprehension. If you don't care about the sport, just ignore it. The world and more and more Americans --thousands of us-- will continue to be "crazy" about soccer.
Viva Utah, Viva RSL

I hate Baseball but I enjoy soccer, football and basketball. I won't even mention arena football. Still, I don't recall crying in my cornflakes and spouting off to the world when the bee's/stinger's/buzz built their stadium. I have even been to a couple games there. (Free tickets from the boss, used to sit right behind Frank Layden. He was much more entertaining than the game). Nevertheless, I like SLC and anything we can do to promote ourselves as sports friendly is good for the city. I'm sure you would like to see MLB here. So would I because I think it would be good for the city. Heck, I might even spend my own money for a couple tickets. I won't say that strongly supporting RSL will HELP MLB come here any sooner but it surely can't hurt if we could show that even the MLS is strongly supported in this market. Still if MLB does not come here I could always buy a couple tickets to watch Rod Decker sing Sanatra.
Looking forward to going to some games. I am often in Salt Lake (from the UK) and theres not many international options for visitors. I follow RSL scores online so hopefully can become an international attraction.
