Great Stuff

I applaud her example for standing up for the patriotic cause that is Stadium of the Fire. It's refreshing to see girls like her stand up for the decent things in this world.

This is great chance for charities to get in the act and surprise some deserving children with tickets to their favorite singer. Perhaps Stadium of Fire execs could allot several tickets or a small section for soldiers families to enjoy. It could show our appreciation for the sacrifice they give upon our behalf. It is the least they could do. If you are concerned about the lost revenue, I am sure you could reach out to the good people of Utah. I would be willing to purchase a few tickets if they were to be promised to young soldiers children. I am sure many other Utahns would as well.

Decent things?

You think Mylee Cyrus is standing up for decency? Have you been to her concerts, seen what she wears? Take a look at the picture to the right - she's wearing a mid-thigh skirt. Is that what you consider decent for teenage girls? Would you let your daughter out of the house wearing what she's wearing?

Looks like a huge departure from previous Stadium of Fire shows. I have supported this event in the past because it has generally be a good family activity. How in the world can it be billed as a family activity with ticket prices so high? And who is Hannah Montana? Fine for kids I suppose but kids don't have money.

Parent

Those ticket prices are a steal for anyone familiar with Miley Cyrus. I took my daughter last year and paid $600 per ticket for the show. Miley is a good example, in my opinion for teenage girls. Compared to the past teen bop singers we have seen in the past decade, Miley is a breath of fresh air. Anyone who has the chance to buy the 25 ticket minimum should buy all the tickets they can because you will see a very quick return on your investment!

Ernest T. Bass

par for the course at byu, 40 year olds who listen to music intended for 9 year olds.

To Parent

To "Parent", you spent $600 per ticket for Miley Cyrus!!!!! Holy smokes! Was the concert mistakenly advertised as Led Zeppelin or an alive and well Elvis coming back? Sure I know Miley Cyrus well...my daughter has all of her CDs, and my whole family laughs at the Hannah Montana show. By proximity, I know most of her songs. But $600!
Since you apparently have no issue with financial woes and I am looking to buy a new home, can I get a grant?

Keep your opinions to yourselves

If you don't have young daughters, or, are unfimiliar with Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, then you have no business commenting here. Go comment about road construction, politics or new accounting principles. Thanks BYU!

Re: Decent things?

What a stupid, stupid comment!!!

There are lots of good, decent kids who don't dress according to the dress standards you would expect of your daughter.

If Miley's attire bothers you, stay home, but let your daughter go to the show and enjoy the wholesome family entertainment.

Happy to see it!

My daughter loves Miley Cyrus! And, do I dare admit?, I think her music is great! I think I listen to her CD's more often than my kids! All songs very positive and honest. I agree with Parent. Those prices are a steal. Also, what's wrong with her outfits? Totally cute and modest.

To: Keep your opinions

You're totally right....

The whole Freedom of speech thing really gets in the way sometimes doesn't it!!!

Senior Citizen

Well, there goes any chance of seniors participating in the Stadium of Fire. The committee wants to make money but the ones who will make money are the scalpers who buy 25 tickets at a time.

Miley Cyrus is a great performer but where does patriotism come in? Forget the Stadium of Fire. We will go to Moroni for a real patriotic celebration.

Re: Bass

Typical comment from you... get a life and stop trolling every story even remotely connected to BYU.

I'm sure there will be hundreds of Utah fans with young daughters who will be at the concert. It's too bad Cougar Stadium doesn't have seating for a 100,000, because this concert will be the hottest ticket the Stadium of Fire has every had.

Enjoy your sparklers at home and be sure not to touch the glowy part.

Re: Senior Citizen

Your body may age, but your mind and interests are only as old as you decide to be. It's not too late to enjoy life and live new experiences.

Ema

I'm sure this will be a very good show, but now it's going to be extremely difficult to get tickets at a decent price. Isn't this event sort of an annual tradition for some families?

Anonymous

Well, Ema, the chick up-thread who posted that she was going to buy the limit (25 tickets) and see a "return on her investment" - meaning, scalping - will probably be happy to sell you a ticket or two.

Small profit you understand.

Gah. The greed.

Happy Dad...

Fortunately I heard the 1,000 ticket announcement on Glenn Beck at the moment it happened and was able to purchase 6 tickets. All 6 tickets were less than 1 ticket would have been for my daughter to attend a Hannah Montana concert.... and my children will love this on the 4th.

The Blue Man Group is great. I saw them in Las Vegas and I look forward to their show.... Glenn Beck is always great to hear.... and such a large fireworks show.

I'm looking forward to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy! God bless all those who have given everything so we may enjoy freedom to celebrate like this!

A Scalper

To Anonymous: Why is it greed to do what everyone else does to make a living? What is it that I do different from a car dealership that buys parts from suppliers and then turns around and sells them to you for a 500% profit? When you go to the movies, how much do you pay for that bag of popcorn that cost the theater about 25 cents to make? I make a good living at scalping. I go out several times a month and I am able to provide for my family with my business. I take the risks and I stand in line for you. Greed? Sorry but this is my livelihood.

Best Concert Ever

I think we all can agree that the best SOF was when Alabama performed..

Some other goods...

Sawyer Brown
Brooks and Dunn
Toby Keith

Not so good...

Taylor Hicks
Martina Mcbride
Corbin Bleu... (what a waste!)

DougS

Scalper: And I'm just sure you pay taxes on all your cash-only transactions. Right?

A Scalper

Doug, I pay taxes every time that I spend the profit that I make from my business. But what does this have to do with my legitimate means of earning a living? Are you jealous that I can make a decent living in only a few hours each month? By the way, do you pay taxes on your internet purchases? Do you claim those transactions on your State Income Taxes? Probably not.
