Wow. How desperate has Stadium of Fire become? This is embarrassingly silly.
Your kids are going to find out | 10:02 a.m. April 1, 2008
For all those who couldn't get their kids tickets to her concert this is your second chance. Don't disappoint them again!

It would have been an awesome april fools joke

I think Miley as the headliner is perfect for the show. I took my daughter to her concert and she still talks about how much fun she had. Nothing says FAMILY like a Disney star.
It's all about sales | 10:14 a.m. April 1, 2008
Prediction: Stadium of Fire will sellout in the first day. If you read the news at all, you will know that Hannah Montana was the biggest concert of the year. You should also expect an increase in ticket prices. This is a big deal of organizers and will be a profitable one. Embarassing for you, but not to every girl in utah under the age of 14.
old guy | 10:15 a.m. April 1, 2008
Why couldn't they get AC/DC?
Re: Moessers | 10:11 a.m. April 1, 2008
I think it is a brilliant marketing move. Miley is HUGE right now. How many little girls will be asking their parents for tickets as soon as they hear this news? I'm preparing to hear non-stop from my girls right now.
Not a fan | 10:13 a.m. April 1, 2008
of what's her name, but I read once tickets for her concerts were going for $400 +

I think it is a smart move, money wise. Not exactly fit for the demographic of Utah Valley BYU fans, though.
Matthew | 10:19 a.m. April 1, 2008
This sounds really cool. a respectable teen with standards, I like it.
uuuhhh . . . . | 10:21 a.m. April 1, 2008
Are the organizers running short on resources, or are they letting their grand daughters run the program this year?
Not exactly broad community appeal.
Billy Ray | 10:17 a.m. April 1, 2008
Attn Moessers, this is probably going to sell out, based on recent supply/demand issues for Hannah Montana concerts. Alan, I wish you a speedy recovery.
Anonymous | 10:26 a.m. April 1, 2008
They must have offered her a boatload of money to work on the Fourth of July.
jomaxwell | 10:31 a.m. April 1, 2008
And who is going to that????
LBJ | 10:29 a.m. April 1, 2008
Moessers - you must not know much about Hannah Montana. Might not sound like a big deal to you, but I can assure that is not desperate, but rather quite the get. I can only assume you don't have daughters.
Silly? | 10:33 a.m. April 1, 2008
It may be embarrassingly silly, but Stadium of Fire is now a guaranteed sell out. In fact, you could have people coming from other states to see this girl perform. You could see people scalping tickets for much more than face value, if you recall what things were like when she performed in Salt Lake a few months back.

And all those kids that they have dancing around on the field??? For the first time in Stadium of Fire history, they won't have to fake being interested in the headliner!

I say this is quite a coup for the Stadium of Fire folks! I know little about her music (my little girls aren't quite old enough yet to care) but she can sell tickets faster than almost any other performer you can name, including bands coming to Salt Lake this summer like the Police, Dave Mathews band, etc. And she presents a clean, wholesome image. And most of all, they were able to get her to come!
Legal Beagle | 10:39 a.m. April 1, 2008
Whatever one may think of Miss Cyrus as a teen pop star or Disney Channel actress, getting her to come to Provo is a major PR coup for the Stadium of Fire organizers. She is the most in-demand performer in America at the moment, and it will be a sellout at LES. And for those who missed it recently, she spoke out strongly about her Christian values keeping her grounded and not turning into a Paris Hilton, Brittney Spears or Lindsay Lohan type. Of course, that could all change in the future, but for now, she is wildly popular and inoffensive. If you want your young girls to carry on the Stadium of Fire tradition in the future, you can't always have headliners geared only for the music tastes of parents. A teen star who at least tries to be wholesome should be welcomed rather than ridiculed.
Hmmm | 10:40 a.m. April 1, 2008
Actually, the Hannah Montana tour was the BIGGEST moneymaker in the country this past year, eclipsing by far every other tour. That, and a TRIPLE-platinum album, make her one of the hottest concerts going. Yes, it's for kids/families, but the inclusion of Blue Man Group should stimulate the interest of the adults in attendance as well. And isn't Stadium of Fire billed as a "family" event anyway...?
Blue | 10:54 a.m. April 1, 2008
Thats one event that I am not even tempted to attend.
Great | 11:06 a.m. April 1, 2008
This is a fantastic choice for wholesome, family entertainment!!!
Moessers | 11:16 a.m. April 1, 2008
I know all about Hannah Montana. And yes, it's wonderful for every girl ages 0-14 in the state of Utah and probably Idaho. They'll pack the place with screaming tween girls. But what about every other individual? They're shutting out other individuals who would normally want to go to this event. It selling out the community.
Mom of a fan | 11:17 a.m. April 1, 2008
Does anyone know how much tickets will be?
Re: Moessers and uuuhhh . . . . | 11:30 a.m. April 1, 2008
Please promise not to buy tickets. It'll leave at least two more tickets available for the rest of us.
Anonymous | 11:40 a.m. April 1, 2008
I'm disappointed about not getting someone else but might as well scalp tickets and make some money off this..ha ha
Ticket Limits ? | 11:48 a.m. April 1, 2008
The article said there was a limit of 25 tickets per person? Oh, and that won't lead to any scam artists buying the tickets and scalping them for five times their value.
Limit should have been 10. That way even a family of eight with two parents could have gone together.
it is alsmot as if they are saying "hey scaplers who worked the earlier Hannah Montanna concert last year, come help us sell out this event!".
Stupid idiots. They need to fix this now!
I hope the news follows up on this. Who needs 25 tickets , really? Someone taking their whole neighborhood?
Out of Town | 11:49 a.m. April 1, 2008
I would go to Statium of Fire for the Blue Man Group, not Hannah Montana. BMG is AWESOME!!!! and in a Statium, a first, would be fantastic!!!
Huh? | 12:07 p.m. April 1, 2008
Are you kidding? Forget about Hannah Montana (although I'm sure she's amply entertaining, if a bit bland). Blue Man Group is awesome! Do you have any idea what tickets cost to BMG? Unless you want to sit in the nosebleed section, you're going to pay $132 plus fees per seat (the upper balcony is $72!). Now, you're not going to get their full show, but to get two of the hottest acts in show business plus one of the biggest fireworks shows in the country for what will be a relatively modest outlay (compared to Hannah and BMG's normal tickets) will be the entertainment bargain of the year! (And no, I don't work for Stadium of Fire--I just know a good deal when I see one....)
wow | 12:08 p.m. April 1, 2008
I'm a 48 year old male - not exactly her demographic, but you folks have to realize how HUGE a coup this is. This will sell out faster than a Stones concert and watch the price of scalped tickets - they will rocket into the stratosphere. My only concern is the possibility her performance is abbreviated in some way. I guarantee the BYU ticket website will crash. She is a wholesome Christian girl and one happy valley should welcome with open arms.
statdium of fire dancer | 12:09 p.m. April 1, 2008
I think it will be great. this year is my last year and i think i will be a great blow out. this is a memory to remember. and those girls that love to dance you should come out and try out.
Who pays for these artists | 12:03 p.m. April 1, 2008
????? the city??? OHH so our tax dollars aren't going to fix our crappy roads or spruce our towns up. THat makes sense. Utah will be forever in the same boat.
Re: Moessers | 12:04 p.m. April 1, 2008
Name me one act that is universally interesting to all age groups and musical tastes...

We don't have to have some middle-aged, country-western singer for EVERY Stadium of Fire celebration.
Anonymous | 12:16 p.m. April 1, 2008
75 bucks
Billy is my Hero! | 12:14 p.m. April 1, 2008
Hmmm,

Check your facts sir. The Police were actually the top moneymaker of 2007. In fact, Miley didn't even crack the top 20. Heck according to Pollstar she has yet to make the top 50 for this year.

In a few years she will be as forgettable as Britney.

Can I pay half the ticket price and see the Blue man road show then leave for the headliner?
Anonymous | 12:20 p.m. April 1, 2008
This sounded weird at first, too big of an act (even if it is for tweens) for Stadium of Fire. It's got to be an April Fool's joke.
Who Pays? | 12:24 p.m. April 1, 2008
What do you mean, who pays? The people buying the tickets pay for it. With her there, they can charge a premium and make sure that they make a profit.
Re; Who pays for these artists | 12:35 p.m. April 1, 2008
It's a community celebration. Go climb back under your wet blanket.
georgiaonmymind | 12:45 p.m. April 1, 2008
You people really need to get a life! We have acts like this coming all the time here in Georgia and I don't hear anyone complaining y'all need to get out and live somewhere else what a bunch of whiners!!!!!
Does it really matter who headlines? Sheesh give me a break. Go out and do something good for someone today.
Amazingly dissapointing | 12:53 p.m. April 1, 2008
It's funny how everyone in all the Stadium of Fire forums is so concerned for Miley Cyrus' coming. If I decide to go to this thing it's because of the Blue Man Group!!!!! We missed their concert at the Energy Solutions, and I think they are actually worth it. Which is why I`m making an effort to purchase a ticket. The cheapest one I can find... because after their performance many young girls will be screaming their hearts out for Hannah and I certainly will bring my earplugs for that. I feel disapointed because just for the fact that she is performing there might not even be tickets of any price and see the Blue Man group.....feel sorry for the parents who are going to dissapoint many kids. Oh well. There is always a chance, I guess.
Only Just for Blue Man Group | 12:55 p.m. April 1, 2008
Isn't sad that she is performing with the Blue Man group at the same night? I didn't have a chance to see them when they came in February! And now that I have my chance Miley Cyrus has to come into the picture and ruin my perfect idea of a firework show. Seriously. Who wants to pay that kind of money if you're going to come out with your ears all swollen up from the screaming of many young girls who think she is a quality act. Okay I understand they are young and they have idols who aren't my idea of them but okay I was young too, but for the rest of us who actually want to see the Blue Man group...give us a separate venue please so we may enjoy in peace. I`m probably going to end up buying just for them but I`ll be sure to get some Advil and earplugs for what scenes await afterwards.
Ultimate Music Junkie | 1:10 p.m. April 1, 2008
I will believe they actually got the biggest act in Stadium of Fire history when they call Josh Groban or Andrea Bocelli or even Bono and the rest of the U2 gang up for this. Now that's music to my ears right there.
Pittakos | 1:10 p.m. April 1, 2008
I'll be standing outside scalping earplugs.
$30 a pair.
$25 if used.
Steve - Re: Silly? | 1:12 p.m. April 1, 2008
What do you mean for the first time ever kids won't have to fake being interested in the headliner of the show? Do you really think there are no teens and young children who honestly are fans of the likes of Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, etc.? Of course there are. These people have fans of all sizes/ages. Kids aren't just interested in Disney, Miley and the Jonas Brothers.
Mom of school kids | 1:22 p.m. April 1, 2008
I know everyone has conflicting feelings about Hannah Montana but the fact is she is a good role model(so far at least)and we have very few for our kids these days. I took my 6 year old daughter to her concert and we had a blast together. Families dancing together all over, and Stadium of Fire is a family event. My 9 and 11 yr. old BOYS want to see her. They are going to be thrilled and we will have a blast as a family. $75. per ticket is a bargain for how fun this night is going to be.
Steve - Miley's fans aren't just | 1:17 p.m. April 1, 2008
Miley's fans aren't just little girls like everyone assumes. I'm sure plenty of young boys and even teen boys around her age like her as well. And I bet she even has some adults who are true fans... teen performers fans don't only consist of their age group and younger.

Back in the day when the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC were going strong I knew of adults in their 50's who liked them.

So don't just assume every male and adult has immediately lost interest in going to the Stadium of Fire this year.
re: Ticket Limits | 1:25 p.m. April 1, 2008
25 tickets might seem like a lot, but it isn't for the huge Utah families who go to this event every year. If we couldn't buy that many at once, it'd be hard to get my whole family sitting together...
Yeah Miley | 1:59 p.m. April 1, 2008
So I am a 40 something year old man with 5 daughters. I couldn't get tickets for her concert earlier, but took all my girls to the concert movie. It was a lot of fun. She is a good performer and a good role model. Combined with Blue Man group and the fireworks, this will be an awesome evening of entertainment. I only hope I get tickets. For those of you complaining, quit being such wet blankets, take your kids and have fun!
Who Pays 2? | 2:12 p.m. April 1, 2008
Maybe you ought to check the facts before opening your yap. The City recently agreed to budget $75,000 for the Freedom Festival. That is a very small percentage of their overall budget. The majority comes from donations etc.
Mr. G | 2:08 p.m. April 1, 2008
I bought 4 tickets this morning through the Glenn Beck website. He is the emcee and they made 1,000 tickets available to listeners of his show. The rush to buy the tickets shut down his website for the first time ever and all tickets were gone within minutes. The rest of the tickets will be going on sale Friday at 5:00 at BYUtickets.com. They expect to have 50,000 or so available at that time. I am planning on reselling mine since I live in Texas. My seats are in section 26 row 40. Are those good seats?
Steve - Re: Mom & Ticket Limits | 2:19 p.m. April 1, 2008
"Mom of school kids" proved my point, her two SONS want to see Miley... so you see, her fans aren't just girls.

Ticket Limits: No, a 25 ticket limit IS alot. No concert should sell more than 6 or 8 to a person ever... but even that doesn't stop the scalpers. But 25??? The ticket scalpers are going to have a field day with this one trust me. And again we'll have to listen to parents whining about their kids being disappointed at not getting tickets and prices being in the hundreds of dollars (for those scalped tickets).

They seriously need to change it from 25 to only 8 per person. So what if huge Utah families like yours can't all sit together? Do you really NEED to? All 25+ of you can still have a good time dispersed all around the stadium in groups of 8 or less.
Steve - Further ticket thoughts | 2:27 p.m. April 1, 2008
In addition to changing the ticket limit from 25 to 6 or 8, Miley and/or the event organizers could take a page from Garth Brooks... do what he used to do in order to discourage ticket scalpers (or at least severly hamper their efforts/earnings).

Garth would not offer the first 2 or 3 rows (the ones which get scalped the most) up for sale, nobody could by all those tickets/seats. Then on the night of the show as fans started filling the arena Garth's people would wander up to the back/top of the arena in the very far bad seat range and pull down the most roudy and excited fans, taking them down to those first 2 or 3 rows to sit for the concert that night.

Miley should do this not only for our Stadium of Fire show but for all her concerts, her fans would love her even more for it. Actually it would be good for ANY performer who is huge and causes big time scalping.

Oh and Garth could've gotten away with charging $100-$300 range easy like many, but purposely kept prices in the $20 range... he cared/cares about his fans.
newlyweds | 2:37 p.m. April 1, 2008
i recently just got married... 23, and 26 and we are stoked for the show. all ages should enjoy this.
