All Right!

Maybe there is hope for Utah after all!

samhill

Yes, I think there is and always has been "...hope for Utah after all!"

I am a bit surprised by one thing. When the story says the people, "...chucked bags of purple, green, pink, yellow, blue and silver chalk at each other.", followed by the comment by Christine Vallone that, "...You couldn't breathe at all,...", I was reminded of the many warnings just a few months ago about the dire danger of atmospheric particulates. I can’t imagine that chalk dust is a whole lot better than the particulates we were warned of back then.

I hope the revelers won’t be paying for this in the end with cases of pulmonary fibrosis or something like it. Perhaps some faces masks could be included next time.

This story reminds me: I have an Indian dinner to go to tonight on campus. Fabulous food, nice people. They speak the King's English but at times I wonder if they attended any classes... We bought the tickets weeks ago and they are sticking to the fridge by a magnet right now. Even the tickets are pretty and colorful.

Some Indian food follows the Hindu religion. I think mostly though they just find something hot and spicy and add it to everything. There is an Indian restaurant in Almaty, Kazakhstan, that is outrageously good. I recommend it. But be sure that you have rolaids.

Good to see the Hindus doing well in central Utah. Might bring some peace to the area.

The Shadow Knows.

Festival Goer

It actually is not colored chalk...Its actually colored corn starch. It still was difficult to breath and I had quite the cough last night. But today its just fine. This was a surreal experience. Tons of fun and unlike anything I've ever done before! It was also great to see so many thousands of people there. Who says Mormons are unaccepting of other religions?

I'm a member of the LDS stake within whose boundaries this temple is located. When it was being built, there was a lot of donated labor from Mormon neighbors, and our stake president arranged for the LDS Foundation to donate funds for the central dome of the temple. I hope our continued love and respect is felt.

Pagan festivities

Why are BYU students participating in pagan traditions? Haven't they read the 10 commandments which speaks of not having "graven images"?

BYU Student

This celebration sure beats the heck out of LDS General Conference! MUCH more fun.

No brainer

Pagan Festivities Do you honestly think that the BYU students are actually worshiping some kind of Pagan god? It's pretty much like a grown up food fight get over yourself most of them were there to have fun and learn about a different culture, don't try to turn this into some kind of Anti-Mormon rant. I myself am not LDS and I don't think that BYU students are Pagan worshippers for going to the Festival of Colors. Quit bashing and get over it...

Did you READ the article?

the interviewee herself said she was mormon AND worshipping, even though she didn't understand it.

Anonymous

Hindus are definitely not Pagan. You see, the interviewee went to the celebration and she probably understands that there are differences between Pagans and Hindus. You who sit back and judge seem to think if you are not Christian you are Pagan. There is a whole wide world out there...don't shun it in the name of your religion.

Pagan?

Doesn't the LDS church ask others to come and worship with us and to learn more about there faith? There wasn't some graven image that was out in the middle of everyone that they were worshiping or something. I have been invited to many other Church's worship services I enjoy going because I develop friendships with others and I am able to learn about others faiths and beliefs it doesn't necessarily mean that I am worshiping some pagan or doing something wrong the church ask us to reach out to others and be accepting, plus it was like a big service everyone threw chalk at each other so what.
