WORK HARD AND HAVE FUN AT THE SAME TIME...What a President!! Thanks for the story Deseret!!

LOL

Fun article! Still lol-ing

SO CAL Jazz Fan

I'm surprised to learn that the Jazz players and especially Coach Sloan had no idea who he was. He's been coaching there 20 years now, and he's never once seen President Monson or interacted with him like that before? Well I guess he knows them pretty well now. I'm sure that won't be the last time President Monson tries to do something like that.

Steve

WAY TO GO PRESIDENT MONSON!!! Your awesome.

wzfan

I've noticed President Monson at Utah symphony performances sitting up front and enjoying the performance but this is the first time I knew what a Jazz fan he was.
He's a very humble and loving man. I wonder if he was close enough to hear sloan's language!!
lakers eat your heart out! our fans include celebrities who are civic and religious leaders not just movie stars and rappers showing up to be seen.
GO JAZZ!!!

Me thinks "sloadsshock" is a bit touchy.

While unusual, I would say that having a prominant local celebrity with near courtside seats pat Sloan on the back during half-time is hardly "CREEPY".

Having someone become as creeped out by it, as "sloanshock" clearly is, is CREEPY.

Metal Bubba

Yeah, I'm a member of the church and I agree that it comes across as strange at best, creepy at worst. Could have been the way the article was written though.

Duh

Sloansshock... If it's Mormon propaganda then quit reading it.

re: sloanshock

You're insane. Calm down. I don't see why you read "this mormon controlled paper" if you hate the LDS Church so much. Why is it that anytime anything "Mormon" is mentioned on any of the Utah newspapers the anti-LDS people feel they need to make their voice heard?

Last time I checked President Monson was human.

Evan

Propaganda, excuse me !? Never fails when a positive article with regards to The Church appears that someone that is Anti LDS has to make a negative comment!

President Monson is showing not only is he currently The Lord's Prophet and President of The Church, but also shows he is a regular person that enjoys the simple pleasures of watching our Jazz play !

President Monson is indeed just as much as "the people's prophet" as President Hinckley was !

Re: sloanshock

Actually, your comment is offensive, and thoroughly idiotic to boot. Why does President Monson's visit to a Jazz game freak you out?

Your use of the word "propaganda" shows that you haven't even the slightest clue what it means.

Want to know what's creepy? You and your anti-Mormonism. "Really weird."

Sloansshock @ 2:25 am

First, go to bed.
Second, ya it might've been a little shocking but it was great to see a church leader in such a fun environment. We always see them in conference and stuff and it is was great to see them out of that environment and in the public.

Pau lGibbs

I bet a lot of fans were watching their language when screaming at the refs.

sloansshock revisited

To sloansshock... let me exercise some of my constitutional rights, about you. Your comments show how ignorant you are. You've never seen a celebrity at a Lakers or Knicks game get involved in the huddle??? You've never seen them get more involved than your average fan??? Your comment only shows what your true motivation is: being critical of the church and its leader, though you claim that you are commenting only on the "weird" situation of someone tapping on the coach's shoulder. Nothing about it was weird, especially if you know how friendly Pres. Monson is. Your comments were ignorant, biased, in poor taste, and were just plain dumb. Get a life.

Superfan

I applaud President Monson for showing he's both a fan and member of our community. I saw him at the playoffs last year and I hope to see him at more games.

Relax sloansshock

if anyone sounds completely offended it's you. Would you have written such a comment if this had been some Hollywood star, Gov Huntsman, or even a former Jazzman that Sloan still couldn't see, didn't know who they were til later, and got a little jumpy because of it?

On a different note, it's good to see the duo are able to take over a game if need be. Let's hope the whole team can keep this up as they leave home again for a bit.

Sloansshock, ya know the Mormons were here in Utah long before you were. If it weren't for the Mormons there would be no Utah. You are welcome to leave anytime, if you don't like the way of life here, leave. No one is keeping you here. There always has to be someone rude like you to ruin a nice article which most people thought was cool that Pres. Monson was at the game.

Mahonri

Being seen in public settings is good. When will we see him helping in the soup line at the Salvation Army shelters?

:) Nice article! Even at his age Pres.Monson likes to mingle and have some good fun, even though someone thinks he should be praying and reading scriptures all the day long...
