This is a first for me. In most the world, "favorite son" means you where born there. In Utah, favorite son means the favorite of the LDS Church who uses a thin political disclaimed each election. Mormons are to Mitt, as Tom Cruise is to Scientology.

This makes me sick. How do people seriously support someone like McCain? People who don't do their homework on the candidates that's who. The candidates the nation supports shows why our nation is going where it's headed. Prepare for a storm ahead.

How do we know for sure the dollar amount? $1000 to $2500 per supposed limit. Not bad for a couple hours then off to Colo to get some more. It's too bad that there is not more checks and balances in place as to where, what, and when the take is spent. Enjoy McDuff.

I'm sorry. If you don't vote for the favored republican candidate, you will not be allowed to continue living in Utah. Since I voted for the constitution by voting for Ron Paul, my neighbors will be loading all my stuff on the moving van this saturday. Then they will be forming a convoy of Tahoes and Escalades and escorting me out of the state.

The nation needs an experienced business minded person and economist in Washington. Romney would be an excellent VP selection and would give the GOP ticket a stronger hold. Romney's exceptional professional record speaks for itself. I'm not necessarily a political person, but tend to lean towards the Dems in local politics. Needless to say our nation is in serious trouble with the economy. Hillary and Obama are not the answer to our nation's current economic crisis, and definately not the crisis in Iraq. McCain is the better choice for our country.

The way Obama is fending off Hillary, it will be Obama and the old man in November. He looks so old. Happpy though in SLC; after all, he got Utah's $400,000. He may be smarter than I thought.

I will never vote for McCain.....He will not Secure our borders....he is just another 4 yrs of what "W" turned out for 8 yrs.....Take better care of Iraq than our country....We Need American Borders...American Culture....and American Language.
The Founding Fathers knew best. Too Much Government and worring about other Governments of other Nations will be the death of our nation.

@Inconsistent McCain. Only those who don't do their homework support McCain? I take exception. Of all my colleagues and family, there are only a couple who research and follow these issues as closely as I. And I've supported McCain for years. I really wish he had won in 2000....we'd be in a much better place today.

And speaking of researching candidates, you will see more and more as people learn about Obama how his support will dwindle. I do wish we could match Obama's charisma and essence of hope, and combine it with McCain's vision, leadership, and policies. But forced to choose between the two, I will take vision and leadership, thank you. (Clinton is just beyond the pale, so forgive me if I leave her out).

Mitt Romney was our only hope of setting Washington in CHECKS & BALANCES.
McCain vision along with Hillary's lack leadership and of what she can do for the Clinton colleagues and her family
will be more of the same.

Obama will be a wait in see! ( who will his advisers be?)

We need Mitt in Washington too badly to be unhumble enough to not accept 2nd place. Even if he goes as VP, he can be a real blessing to our country. He is a great guy and has alot to offer. My prayers and hopes are still there. If the only way he can get in Washington would be with McCain then so be it. McCain was not my first choice.. too duplicitous, but here it is. My prayers are that now McCain will do the right thing and invite Mitt to be his VP running mate... I don't know beyond that, they will have to work hard to convince me of anything!

Two things:

1 - Why do journalists and their editors use the word "some" in front of numbers, like "some $400,000"? It's everywhere. Some 3,500 people attended. Why not 3,500 people attended. Who's counting? I get so sick of seeing "some." It's typical pack journalism, reporters following the style others have used. No thinking. Just oink, oink.

2 - Rommey was a complete wipe-out, failure, fake, clownish embarrassment to everyone outside of Utah. And, for some of us inside the state. His candidacy was laughable.

An M&M ticket would bring the conservatives back into the party. It would take the purple states of Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico and make them instantly "red" states. Adding Mitt to the ticket as VP would tighten up the polls in Calforinia, Oregon, and Washington state. Mitt could also bring the states of Michigan and Minnesota into the McCain column in November and if Obama is the Dem nominee then Massachusetts would come into play as they rejected Obama in the primaries. Mitt has been vetted and came in second place during the GOP primaries. Look back to 1980 when Reagan and Bush#1 had a tough battle for the nomination. In the end Reagan picked the guy that came in second during the primaries. John is strong on foreign policy and Mitt's strong on "domestic issues". It's the perfect ticket. Let's make it so!

I will be forever disappointed if Mitt allows himself to be used as a prop for McCain's suicide run for the W.H.. If he is offered #2, doubtful given McCain's downright mean, bitter, and unforgiving nature (only where Conservatives and republicans are concerned), Mitt would do well to offer a thanks but no thanks and preserve his chances for '012.
I do however hope desperately that good old Johnnie, aka Mr Clean, will choose Charlie Crist so we in Fla can be rid of this RINO right quick. There will be nothing that will sink a political future faster that to be hooked up with McCain when he looses in a landslide. And, good ol' Johnnie will be very quick to lay blame and throw his #2 right under the straight talk express. In keeping with his past history of loyalty to republicans.

A McCain and Romney ticket would be a disaster. Romney's religion is a problem for many conservative voters, and for those of you who are worried about McCain's age, please remember that Romney is NO SPRING CHICKEN EITHER.
Mike Huckabee would be a much better match for McCain.

McCain will never get my vote if he chooses Multiple Choice Mitt for a VP. No thanks. I'm not too worried about it...McCain knows that it would be political suicide to hitch his cart to The Willard of the Month Club. McCain has to be able to carry The South. He won't do it with Romney.
All in all, I have never in my life seen such poor choices for a potential POTUS, democrat, republican or otherwise.

If it means keeping Clinton and naive Obama out of power then I will vote for a McCain/Romney alliance. America must not become more left-wing (liberal) than it already is and voting in Clinton or Obama would be a disaster for the tax paying, hard working American citizen.

McCain/Romney ticket is the BEST! UTAH only has 60% LDS membership and Gov. Romney's staggering 90% Republican Primary win is a clear evidence that he can be accepted and be voted by other religions. I Miss Gov. Romney and I am thankful to see him again.

Reading all the other national newspapers regarding a McCain/Romney ticket seems to predict it is a perfect mix of what the country needs, and, dare I say it people, no country needs Hillary Clinton. Obama is an unknown. Ron Paul I'd go for, but he is wholly unelectable, and these issues are serious. I don't want Jihadist's in my back yard, and I fear the Democrats would pull our troops out and the bad guys will show up in America before the last tank leaves Iraq. A vote for Ron Paul is as ignorant as a vote for Perot was back when I cast mine and ushered Slick Willy into the big white house. I've got to hold my nose and vote for McCain, but if he has Romney on the ticket, I can still breathe and hope for some help at the gas pump and for our nation's economy. Romney is a born and bred politician, which means talking to please. It's part of the game plan, and, unfortunately, necessary to win.

If Ron Paul is worth your contemplation, then I would argue that Obama is not an unknown. maybe if you don't like black people you might be inclined to say that. good old fashioned utah.
