This was not a case of running the wrong offense. This was a case of a team coming out for a big game and not playing with any energy at all. This effort was a joke. I can handle when the Jazz lose when giving max effort but when they play with energy this team could easily handle LA. How else can anyone explain how they beat LA the last time with Boozer and Memo out. They simply played with a high amount of energy. This team is getting very good at wasting games. They did it last year and it cost them home court. They have had every chance at home court throughout and now that is most likely out of reach. Sad that people who get paid to play a game can't come out with energy for as big a games as this. No Carlos, the loss was not because of running the wrong plays it was because when you left the locker room none of you had any energy. I would not vent if they got beat and played hard but they did not play Jazz basketball. When they are "RIGHT" no one can beat them.

Terrible

No Defense once again,
No rebounding,
No energy,
No time outs,
What gives?
Every shot that went up there were 3 Lakers waiting for the rebound and No Jazz players within 10 feet of the basket.
Then, how a bout all those missed layins, try dunking instead of the finger rolls.
Come on Sloan - start coaching or go home and play on your tractors!

Laker fan

I hope jazz fan can see they have NO chance in a series with the Lakers. Remember, this was without two of their better players (gasol, byrum). Don't give it is just one game - THIS WAS A STATEMENT!

rickyblaque

You Jazz fans just need to get over it. These are not the late 90's and the Lakers do not fear you any more. I glad Derek and the Lakers put you guys in your place last night. Now that's personal.

Eugene

Okay, enough with the onslaught. The Jazz lost big time, so what? NBA history shows that big losses don't mean big losses every time even in a single series. The Jazz can and will rebound, but this should be a wake up call to the boys from Utah that 20 home wins in a row just wasn't going to be handed to you! Regroup and finish out this homestand with vigor!! Play-off bound, baby!!

Hmmm...

Jazz just didn't want this one. I can tell you, if I was getting paid 8-10 MILLION dollars per YEAR (I'll never see that much money in my entire LIFETIME), I would D$%% sure put forth more effort than I saw last night. I had to stop watching 'cause I get entirely too wrapped up in yelling at the TV. I've been TV-Coaching the Jazz since I was 14 - I'm now in my forties. I'm thinking some things will never change...

Spike

Note to Note,
Was Kobe correct? Yes!!!!! Perhaps you should show some class and just admit that the Jazz fans were wrong. When will the Utah fans ever stop crying? You sound like a bunch of grade school whiners. Look the Jazz lost to the Lakers last night. Last night the Lakers were clearly the best team. Next time maybe the Jazz will win. This isn't real life, this is just basketball and you guys need to growup. Your fans threw things on the court when it was clear you would lose. Why do you act like that?

Agitatus

The Jazz played like they were running in sand. This was a nationally televised game and they proved why they aren't nationally televised more often. They were either intimidated or unprepared. Either excuse is disgusting. There's no reason they couldn't beat this team, lame self righteous Kobe indignation or not, especially without Pau.
As for Derek Fisher, I was bothered by the boos. Obviously, many fans at the stadium felt the Huntsman Cancer center ought to be capable of providing the best care for his daughter and he just wanted out of Utah, particularly given his reaction when he first discovered he was coming to our state in the trade. Kobe is a great player, but he's a schmuck.

ToLakerFans

Who says we fear the Lakers or anyone else? Jazz are 3 games from 1st in the West while still being the 3rd youngest team in the NBA. The other two youngest Seattle and Portland are not even close. Jazz are not winning a Championship thats a fact but but we'll see what happens in the next 2 years. Now if we can find a big man that plays defense and get rid of Okur.

Sanctimony

Once again Jazz fan has proven himself the dumbest fan in the league. Enjoy that the Lakers broke your streak you deserve it. Jazz fan = Ute fan = losers.

Where was the energy Jazz? If playing for a record, a shot at the playoffs, and against one of your biggest rivals can't motivate you, what can? By the way, come on fans, don't throw stuff on the court! What was that!? You almost looked as childish as Kobe out there. Almost. What a waste he is. He could be such a role model with his bball skills. He's an incredible talent. Now all you want to do is hope your kids don't even notice the jerk. What a loser. Grow up Kobe. You're how many years in the league now, and still acting like a baby?

To Spike

Because there are morons in all stadiums, both on and off the court... an instance in Detroit comes to mind.

Fisher should have not been booed no reason for that and yes a lot of Jazz fans are homers. I have been watching every game since 1983 and I have to say are fans are one of the worst homers including KJAZZ announcers. Just call the game well ya "Cha-Ching"... bring Hot Rod back!!!

to spike

Yes it was classless to throw things on the court, but as far as Fisher, was it classless? Did he really leave Utah to move to somewhere where his kid could be treated better, or was it that he hated being Utah from the beginning and wasn't man enough to honor a contract?
It also makes me sick how many Laker fans were at the game, can you say band wagoners?

Confused

I always hear how "great" and "classy" the Utah fans are. Then I see how they treat one of the more respectable guys in the league -- booing Derek Fisher like he's a criminal. These so-called fantastic fans then throw a hissy fit and begin hurling stuff onto the court when the game became unwinnable -- acting like a bunch of petulant little babies. Guess it's just funny to me.

I followed Fisher for many years and he never struck me as one to sneak his way out of a commitment. Comparing his act to Boozer's (when he turned his back on the Cavs) is laughable. I commend Larry Miller for doing the right thing and setting Fisher loose. I guess it just comes down to making a distinction between the team and the fans.

The Jazz are a 1st class organization but it appears Utah fans are as dumb and classless as the rest of the league. Now if we could just get someone from there to admit it...

Trouser Trout

There`s only 1 thing I hate more than the Lakers coming to our court and poundin our boys...and thats watchin "KOBE THE GLORYHOG" drivin right down the lane untouched for a dunk....kills me

RE:Spike (The Truth)

do you know what a fan is? You got to love those bandwagon Laker fans! just like you see all those bandwagon Celt's fans now as well. I'm glad Kobe is not a jazz player, cause I couldn't take his MJ faking self. Look I'm talking like MJ!! look I'm copying MJ's moves...Kobe there was and will only be one MJ and you are not him!! I'm glad the Jazz sent Deshaun out of here as well, we don't want that type of play-er! And Spike, there is a reason why no one wants to play the jazz in this arena, it's because of the FANS! I'd rather be around paranoid beer thrown, cussing, booing, rednecks than the look at me I'm a star/i need more attention/bandwagon LAKER'S fan and yes KOBE was innocent, he is really just misunderstood! He's really a good guy,who loves his wife....just a few KOBE moments for you....I want out of here.....trade me, we could have had Jason Kidd for Bynum are you kidding me? I never sent Shaq out of town?, I hate Phil, I love Phil....We are TEAM!! Spike give me a break!! At least Jazz fans care about someone other thanthemselves!

Troutster - No Class

If it makes you feel better calling Kobe names then have at it. It doesnt change the fact that Kobe is one of the greatest players ever. Kobe will be the MVP this year. He whooped up on the Jazz last night. Give the guy some credit. He is an amazing basketball player.

Sloan Hater

Never Fear, I am Always Here!

Even as much as I dislike Sloan's Coaching Skills and revel in the chance for others to see with their own eyes why I continually call for an end to his tenure, this was a tough loss to stomach.

No need to discuss Sloan today, just re-watch the 1st quarter if you still contest my calls for Sloan to retire.

However, I do want to hit on some positives. The Jazz never gave up on the game. This is a great sign for a playoff team. Even though the Jazz were down 15+ most of the game, they never threw in the towel. If a couple of big shots had fallen in the 4th, the outcome may have been different.

Let's hope the Lakers take the top spot in the West, setting up a 2nd Rd rematch.

The other positive note is that the streak is over. I think the attention and hype surrounding streaks can become a distraction.

I can't imagine the hype/pressure IF the home streak lasted up until the Playoffs.

It would have been worse than seeing the '1988 Sloan Montage.'

Fire/Retire Sloan

Best fans?

Everyone says the Utah fans are the best in the league. How do you define that? Are they the best cause they are the loudest, the most passionate? I have been to a few games and they are loud and passionate which is awesome and it is a fun place to be at but they really aren't the best fans. They are in my opinion the loudest and most hostile but that does not make them the best. How can you say they are the best when a game is stopped because stuff is thrown on the floor and they argue nearly every call and they boo whoever they can think of? Very passionate but clearly not the best or greatest fans. Maybe they would be if they were more realistic. I am not speaking of each person that goes to the games but as a collective in the stands. Not all fans boo and throw things but when you look at a whole the Jazz fans are not the greatest.

Lakers #1

Hey Jazz fans. Stop your crying. The Lakers showed who the best team is. Play defense and maybe you can beat the Lakers in the playoffs.
