Last year I flew out of town to california and sat next to Vic on the plain ride he had his head set on and was listening to his I pod before I sat down . we a had a great conversation about the team and his role on the team . Seems like he will do well as a LB and should fill the hole for the loss of Kehl. Good Luck on the next seasons.

It takes an attitude to play linebacker. You have to really want to pound someone into a pile of goo. And if he now has a step in his bounce, that means pretty smile aside he is likely a controlled maniac. This could be his calling in life, and I am happy for it.

All the best!
Go BYU!!

a fan

What a surprise...the BYU basketball loss gets eliminated from the NCAA so lets bury the story and lead with a BYU football story.

RE a fan

Obviously you didn't see the actual paper. The article on the BYU loss was on the front page. You had to make it to the sports section to read about football. But I do like the idea of hiding the loss.

...

I heard in addition to a new attitude he followed the lead of the track team and has purchased a number of new mops.

Re: a fan

Or should we write re: a Ute fan. If you had a clue you would realize that there has been an article each day this week on spring practice at the Y. With that said, I would rather read about football than another 1st round exit in basketball.

To Jimbo

Poor Soto - hopefully your conversation lasted only 15 minutes or so. Most people hate being bugged on a plane flight for more than a few minutes. At least it shows Vic is a nice guy and has patience.

With the talent in San Diego, being first team there is easily akin to all-state here in Utah. With the TE talent on board and coming in it looks like he made a career prolonging move.

If we get through the first three games, we can be a BCS team this year! However they must follow Bronco's idea, ONE GAME AT A TIME! Keep healthy, and and do what it takes, So'oto is willing to do that! Way to go, I think we can do what we need to do this year to get it done for once!

Big LB

That is a potent move. Ex-tight ends as Line backers with the size and speed and manueverability that so'oto has can be very dangerous especially since he was a top class linebacker in California. Looks like a nice athlete.

Bronco take a lesson from the Lone Peak Basketball coach and don't let your athletes talk on the camera or be interviewed. Less people will hate your team. You as the coach do all the talking and let the athletes focus and concentrate on football. That goes for basketball too. i.e. "even though we lost we're still a better team".

YaY!

I am thrilled that BYU football will not feature a So-Oto fumble in 08.

You know

I looked at Washington's schedule and scores from last year and it's really hard to say who could win potentially this year. It could likely go either way. Arizona lost to BYU in their season opener last year 20-7, and that same Arizona team went to Washington and beat them 48-41! BYU's offense is better this year and the defense could still be really good (not to mention we'll have better field position this year thanks to Justin, so we can defend some longer fields). They did almost beat USC on their home field too. So, it's hard to say really who will win that one, it could end up being a blow out either way. I think if BYU beats Washington, that will be an important hurdle in going undefeated the rest of the season.

RE:YaY!

It will feature many fumbles, but only ones that So'oto causes!

Max Hall for Dictator.
Sounds like a good change for player and BYU.

Russ Fan

Does anyone know how Russ Lonczyna is doing in spring ball? I thought he was a great up and coming player last year on special teams and nickel coverage until he injured his groan. I hope he's healthy again because we can use his quickness and tenacity. He is the definition of a true DB!

this would have been a great article if deseretnews didn't allow advertisements to put things in the middle of the article. very unimpressed

HEY - RUSS FAN!

'd like to know what exactly what hurts when you injure your 'groan.' lol

The kind of word mistake (typing mistake) I make as well!

Go Cougs!

Re: Ute fan

Might as well talk about BYU's loss. Ewe sports is a dud.

Anonymous

I agree about the fumbles. He fumbled half the passes he caught last year and that is not an exageration. Hopefully he is decent on defense.

anonymous

Well, if I got to see the ball once in a blue moon I would too fumble because I'd be more surprised that the QB threw at me. Non the less, he'll be a upgrade for the "D". Go Y.
