American liberty IS inseparably bonded to religious faith.
Mine, not yours. You've no proof greater than mine.

Ain't it great?

The author has articulated compelling reasons for McCain to pick Romney. I would be thrilled! I was so discouraged when he dropped out that I did, too.

Mitt's decision to support McCain drew me back from the brink of voting Democrat (temporary lunacy only). But, my support for McCain was grudging. It was primarily based on my respect for Romney's opinion and my fear of what a liberal administration would do to bring the world down around my ears.

I think Romney is brilliant and would be a superb vice president, and later, president. A lot of people who became relatively disengaged when Romney dropped out of the race would really come alive were he back in the game.

I had a 15 year habit of listening to conservative talk radio that Romney's collapse caused to fizzle.

My infatuation with American Idol's David Archuleta has got me listening to popular music for the first time in probably 20 years. The exquisite and moving songs I found coming out of David's mouth made me think--if there was music that wonderful out there, I was definitely missing out by not listening.

With Romney back in the race, I would have twin passions!
Condi Rice is the better choice | 6:43 a.m. March 23, 2008
To beat an Obama-Richardson ticket, McCain needs to trump their progressive agenda and racial appeal. Rice is the ideal choice as she brings in true beloved right-wing Bush values (pro-war, anti-global warming, anti-evolution, anti-stem cell, pro-tax cut, anti-science, etc.) with race and gender assets. Two white guys, who for most of their careers have been liberal-moderates (and even progressive on fiscal policy and global warming), ain't going to excite the Republican base in today's race... sorry!

Yea, but Romney's a Mormon and I thought.....oh never mind.

Just curious. What is the policy if a sitting President slips into senelity?
Reality, in the real world | 9:09 a.m. March 23, 2008
This will be censored for not staying between the lines and saying Mitt is mister morality.

Mitt was an egoistical noxious lair. He was the archetypal: slicky boy. Is this the guy Mormons want American to equate with LDS values?

Mitt's father run a motor company that extinct. Like the Gremlin, if Mormons want an LDS president, its time to switch models. Mitt isn't selling well outside Utah were Ramblers are still fondly remembered.

McCain has few appealing virtues (other than being less undesirable than Obama or Clinton) and many flaws- (McCain-Feingold, gang of 14, and amnesty for illegals among others).
Romney is far better on most issues, and having him as VP would make me much less reluctant to vote for McCain.

Sadly, McCain and whoever is the only viable option at this point. Romney as a potential successor is definitely appealing.

So, Romney's a Mormon? That is not a problem for me (non-LDS), although some bigots may be afraid of him.
Mark B | 11:25 a.m. March 23, 2008
Oh, Romney's a Mormon? Well, since I assume most or all Mormons would be against prisoner torture, how would that square with McCain's flip flop on this issue to allow whatever the CIA dreams up, then NOT informing us of what is being done? We couldn't have running mates with differing views of this important issue, could we?
Oh Please | 1:45 p.m. March 23, 2008
McCainRomney would be just 4 more years of BushCheneyCo, i.e., 100 Years War, government by and for the super-rich, "double Gitmo" and torture. Stephen Studdert is a relic of the Reagan mess and a value-killer for several local businesses. I wouldn't follow his advice on anything, folks, especially on investments...

Mark B,
I assumed that most Mormons support prisoner torture. Romney supported it and most Mormons supported him. I'm still waiting for the churches official position, but the issue isn't quite as important to them as alcopops.

If Romney were to be on the ticket, it would be best if McCain/Romney lost to the democrat. In this case we would have another Jimmy Carter(Obama or Clinton) and Romney would be in a good position to run against a failed incumbent that would more than likely have foreign affairs and the economy in tatters. By then the voters will have forgotten the Bush administration that has mismanaged the war, lost control of our borders, and left the economy in tatters.

If McCain/Romney were to win, Romney would get much of the blame for a very likely failed McCain Administration, marking the end of his political future. Whoever wins the next election is more than likely to be a failure. There just doesn't seem to be much to chose from.

I thought this was a message board on the pros and cons of Romeny - not a personel attach on the author of the article. I've known the guy for years and find him to honest and just a good guy. Sometimes investments don't work out - that's the nature of the game. If you don't understand that - don't invest!

Enough of that - I think it would be a great ticket. I, for one, am extremely worried about American's financial outlook - it would be nice to have Romeny - one who understands the ins and outs of the financial world - in leadership. I don't think there is going to be a quick fix - but would still be nice to have a real world expert leading that ship!

all good reasons why Romney should be President, but historically vice presidents have so little clout that such efforts would be futile, unless, of course, something happens to mcCain...
Finlander | 10:00 a.m. April 2, 2008
Romney would probably be a strong vice president - if McCain just doesn't override the good counsel Romney would be giving him.
U.S. federal budget needs FAST fixing!!

If McCain would get senile, then the VP and speaker of the House and leader of the Senate can overthrow him (according to constitution).
