Alpine District targeting 'what counts'

I don't want my taxes to triple on my house so I will vote against a split. It just isn't worth it after the mayhem over JSD splitting with tax increases for all likely to be the outcome of it. Besides the cities won't likely put a split up so the window has been closed to it. Our best recourse is instead to flip the school board members if we want a chance at meaningful change.
Yes, I agree it is a feel-good activity with likely no follow-up or action to anything that is said on these nights.
Simple really.
You pay them enough so that when they graduate they don't get on a plane and leave the state.
You pay them to stay past year 5. (50% quit after year 5... it just doesn't make sense to stay for so little pay).
You stop giving them a raise while at the same time whittling away their medical benefits... thus, raise equals zero.
Utah is filled with cheapskates who want the most bang for little or no buck at all.
If you want your rugrats to have the best education and to just plain have enough educators, you need to pay them enough to attract them to this state. Otherwise, they'll keep coming here for the great state-subsidized education and then jump right over the border to a better paying state.
Simple Econ 101 logic.
There are THOUSANDS of people that would like to be teachers. It is a rewarding job that has a huge impact on society. Unfortunately most realize they can't very well raise a family in Utah on $29,000 a year when houses cost $300,000 for a starter home.

What we really need is to divide the district and make it into several, truly community-based community districts.
