....neither team deserves to be in the NCAA tourney. ISU played harder teams than USU, so they had the much harder schedule, so they'd deserve to be in before USU. Still, neither team had impressive wins to be in the NCAA. NIT is right for both. Illinois State has only lost one home game, to nationally ranked Drake by 3 points. They comfortably beat many of the better MVC teams at home. Winning on their home court is very hard. I imagine it's like them playing on Utah's or BYU's home court, and how did they do at Utah this year? I'd be surprised in an Aggie win.

The recipe is right for a an upset here. I give the Aggies even odds. ISU is more on the letdown, and with a win (and therefore another game) Jaycee will probably end this season as the state's all-time leading scorer. I think that might motivate him and his team. Ironically, I think a home game for ISU at this time might not be such an advantage, because it's no big deal, just another bball game, but for USU it's an event, something to get geared up for.

It's time for USU to start moving to a higher level and actually win a post season game. This run of 23+ win seasons is great. But, it kind of sours when you see how inept the Aggies have been when they play in the post season. It's time for this program to step it up. I hope this team is putting a lot of emphasis on this game and not just going through the motions because they didn't make the NCAA. Go Aggies! Let's make a run in the NIT.

ISU is hardly like USU in '04 | 1:45 p.m. March 19, 2008
To compare this ISU team to the USU team that was ranked in the top 25 with a record of 25-3 does a lot of injustice to the '03-'04 team. Just because a team expects to go to the big dance and doesn't get in doesn't compare it to one of the biggest if not THE biggest robbery of all time in the NCAA tourney. ISU wasn't ranked and the MVC is over-hyped anyway. Sure their good but Arizona St. has a much better case this year than ISU and that doesn't compare to the '03-'04 Aggies.

When you are going in as a 12th seed or lower makes it very difficult to get that win. Nobody's claiming to be a national power, but give us a few games against the middle of the power conference and will win our share. Ala, Ohio State a few years back and even Iowa this year. Give us an 8th seed and will do something with it. But first, lets win a few NIT games and get some momentum.
GO AGGIES
