Based on my past participation in Utah County Republican conventions, this doesn't seem to be an unusual level of participants. Would the DNews care to do some actual research, for example go back and see how many challengers there were in the past three or four legislative elections, before they claim there's a groundwell of discontent with our legislators? I suspect most of the challengers will not get any traction in the convention, and will not get enough votes to win or even force a primary.
Just another note, it's interesting that so many of the challenging Republicans are going on record against the party platform, which supports efforts for school choice, including vouchers.
Republican candidates may be "going against" the "party platform" of school choice; however, they are doing what they are supposted to do - represent constituents, people, not "party platforms." Way to go! It's nice to see that Utah County does have intelligent, reasonable people who want to represent the PEOPLE, not the ultra-conservative, arrogant incumbent imbeciles who think they know it all and don't care about their constituents. I hope every incumbent loses!
PLEASE don't vote for the incumbent in District 56. Ken Sumsion voted FOR child safety seats until age 8--which would technically mean all school buses now need to have those installed... I guess the government doesn't trust me to look out for my own children's best interest and safety. He's also eager to get us a toll road out here to alleviate traffic congestion, but I don't think we should be paying for our roads multiple times (taxes, registration fees, and now tolls). Besides with inflation going up, it will be a "road for the rich".
Oh, and did I mention corporate charity? He's expressed support for giving incentives to companies to drill for oil so that we're energy independent. Now there's NO risk to start a business. The government will fund you up front and bail you out if you fail.
I'm definitely trying to learn more about the other candidates REGARDLESS of party. (Heck, the parties are all starting to sound the same anyhow!)
Don't vote looking to the past, vote looking to the future. Mike Morley has a lot of good ideas that I would like to see him get a change of implementing. For some reason, the society has moved away from good conservative family values. At the end of the day, that is the foundation of who we are and what we do. This is the one thing that Mr Morley is also stressing. I feel that he really has Utahs best interest at heart and should be commended for all the good hes already done.
Mike Morley has already done so much to improve our community. Every promise made by him to win his campaign, when elected, has been kept. I commend him for everything that he has done and what he represents.
I think that Mike Morley has had alot of negative attention in the media. I believe for what he stands and think he's the best candiate.
Mike Morley has outstanding family values and I love everything that he stands for. I believe he is the best candiate for the position.
I am just wondering if all this attention on Morley is being forced by the Democratic party so they can win the election.
I agree that there has been alot of negative attention on Morley. I don't think that anyone is actually listing to Morley they are just listening to everything negative about him. I will definately be voting for him.
I think that Mike Morley is the best candiate for the position. Everyone needs to focus on all the good that he has done for our community. I believe that he has done an excellent job and will continue.
My children go to Charter Schools and I thank Mike Morley for what he did there. I will definately be voting for Morley.
