Absolutely right! Nothing seems less fair than to kill olympic aspirations of young athletes from all over the world, many from very poor countries, for a futile gesture .

I disagree. China is killing people in Tibet "like dogs in the street." It's human rights policies are laughable. It poisoned our dogs and cats. There are many reasons not to spend money and time in China on an athletic event that has lost much of its lure. Athletes will cheat and China will continue its killings and tortures. Let the games not begin.

The LA Newspaper just had a headline saying that the US would not boycott the 2008 Olympics. This is good news. We need to work together not just cut off communication with each other despite our differences.

A little perspective here. We're talking about a religious leader and his followers who were persecuted and forced from their country by an intolerant government. Now set your clocks back 160 years. Do these events seem familiar?

Set your clock back 160 years, Doug. If the media talking about an intolerant government forcing a religous group to flee the borders of the country in order to survive, whose side would you have been on then? A little perspective please.
