To be a captain is not easy and Deron has proved it one more time. Congratulation Deron, keep on doing your job as good as possible. GO JAZZZZZZ

Jimmy doesn't buy it. Boston would have taken CP3 instead of DWill.

I guess if anyone would know about being overrated it's Deshawn Stevenson.

D-will is a stud they can talk all they want about kp3, and he is a great basketball player but D-will is tough i would love to play with a guy like that.

I will choose D'Will.

It's getting obvious from the kinds of injuries (and how they're happening) to Jazz players that other teams don't like this upstart team from Utah to get up there with them. Hopefully, Deron's head injury isn't one that'll cause him problems.

I think the refs are losing control again. They seem to be letting players get and act frustrated too much. 'Bout time they started cracking down on the attitude nonsense that some players are again getting away with.

Of course, that won't help the Jazz because some players complain a little too much. They need to realize the refs will never be completely neutral when it comes to sports teams from Utah.

Jimmy didn't follow that draft very well. The Jazz got a lot of praise for taking DWill and many expressed their desire to get Williams if they had had the 3rd pick. Paul and Williams were rated so closely together that only 2 factors pushed Williams ahead of Paul: 1) Williams' size; 2) Willaim's performance in the NCAA title game. He was the best player on the losing team. He got a lot of attention.

Just because Paul has panned out to be the better player (at least according to the stats, which never really say anything considering Stockton and Malone together own about 60% of all the career stat marks...and never won a darn thing) does not mean that if you went back to that moment another team would have taken CP3 over Williams.

One more important fact...before the draft there were media bits out of NO that they were high on Williams, but would be happy to see Paul still on the board at that point. They quickly changed to wanting CP3 all along, but in reality, Williams was their first choice too.

"...stayed with what we wanted to try to do." - Sloan

Sloan needs to get a new soundbite or figure out a new way to say this. Every single interview he ever does he says "what we wanted to try to do."

Even still...he is right. If they "stay with what they want to try to do" then they win, more often than not.

Just ask the Celtics. Did anyone else read the quote from Paul Pierce, that it was like being picked on by the playgound bully.

Right on. You go Jazz!

It is unbelievable to look around the league and see these attitude players like Perkins of the Celtics. These thugs need to be controlled. The Jazz are generally not a body banging physical team. They are victimized by physical intimidating players, the majority of the time they are not assessed with fouls when they wack Jazz players. There are so many mystery fouls called on the Jazz when compared to some of these more physical players in the league. However, it behooves the players to beef it up, because of these no calls, which are explained away as losing control of the ball, or a blocked shot. It is incredible! All of this has invested the collegiate and high school games as well. More aggressive physicality as overtaken the game. Just in the one category of stealing the ball. It is almost impossible to steal the ball from a decent ballhandler without fouling the player. Just take a closer look at these plays. The league officials and administration are encouraging this type of foul plagued game officiating. It is appalling to me.

GO JAZZ! Stay healthy and go for the best record in the West. It is possible. Just WIN!!!
Officiating | 12:25 p.m. March 15, 2008
There have been some disparaging comments by some regarding NBA officiating in various blogs on the two local SLC papers. While the officiating is far from perfect, these guys are the best in the world. I will expect perfect calls when the Jazz players play a perfect game. I personally know an NBA official and hear some of the inside talk. These guys are held to a standard that is almost unrealistic. A reasonable amount of perspective is in order when critiquing NBA referees.

Regarding the Boston game, while the game was called pretty well, all things considered, the Jazz definitely got the best treatment that night. When you document the calls, the data doesn't lie.

CP3 is naturally just a better player/pg. He drives to the hole better, shoots pretty well, quicker, not stronger(but finishes better), has a better vision of the court.
Ainge | 1:21 p.m. March 15, 2008
Ainge has done a nice job as a GM. He was a good head coach, a good player, an excellent commentator, and now has put together the top team in the NBA. Nice to see him do well even though in 3 years he will have to start it all over again. If the Celts win a Championship or two he will have the good will to be able to do it. If this team does not get at least one ring he will probably be out of Boston after this experiement with the big three. Glad he didn't get D-Will - he'll have to make do with Rondo.
@Ainge | 1:58 p.m. March 15, 2008
Danny Ainge is one of the class acts in basketball. At one time omly Kareem had played in more finals games than Ainge. I thinks he was in the finals more than he wasn't as a player. Ainge was beloved by Red and that is why he is the Boss in Beantown now.
Kellen | 3:03 p.m. March 15, 2008
D will, and Cp3 will of course be played out throughout their careers and to which one is better. Durability will be the deciding factors, both good teams, Utah has the edge, both great players, but Dwill hasn't had a serious injury, whereas paul in the last 2 seasons has missed over 20 games.
The Truth | 5:41 p.m. March 15, 2008
Everybody thinks that CP3 is the superior defender to Deron. Steals are the most overrated statistic in basketball. In Paul's case, getting steals means taking a lot of risks on defense. He ends up giving away enough baskets to make his steals negligible. In the world championships, he couldn't guard any of the Euros.
Over and Underrated | 6:11 p.m. March 15, 2008
DWILL works Chris Paul, if we're talking about anyone being overrated it's Paul. D-will outplays him everytime they play. And their rookie year D-will's stats were better and he was on a better team and Chris Paul still got rookie of the year. Everyone acts like Paul is the Messiah of b-ball, but maybe when he shows up, is consistent, and is playing quality people at his position (Billups, Williams, even Kidd) and works them I'll give more love but for now he's just the best thing coming out of New Orleans...wow???
