We all got to enjoy the lovely photos of the adorable alpacas and the beautiful rolling green hills. Now show us the photos of the eyesore - the holding pens that Mr. Pack and his family have to look at after decades of being able to enjoy their own view of pastures and orchards. Maybe Bergman's ought to move the holding pens to their own yard instead of relocating them far from their own personal home.

So is the Alpaca ranch a hobbie or a business? Quite an expensive hobbie with alpacas ranging from several thousand to several hundred thousand a head. The Bergmans are selling some of their "HOBBIE" alpacas. Right now they have $54,000 in 3 Alpacas for sale. They also charge stud fees, sell their fleece & yet get away with calling it a "hobbie" & not a business. Their land is not zoned for a business. Alpine City are you missing out on taxes due to you from their sales? Looks like you are the ones being taken for a ride here. Bergmans can run a business here, keep their animals on their land that is not zoned for a business...oh yeah because its a "hobbie". At an average of $20K a head, Bergmans have quite an inventory. 1/2 mill alone in animals and its not a business? Alpine City its time to wake up. Bergmans are laughing all the way to the bank. Good for you Carl Pack. Im glad someone in Alpine who doesnt have his head in the clouds or in his pocket book can see what is really happening here. By the way Carl is far from greedy.

Where does it state in this article that Mr. Pack is a money hungry developer? Your uneducated comments toward this man are shallow and obserd. Mr Pack has lived in Alpine his entire life. His land has been in his family for over 100 years & has been a working friut farm that has provided a living for his family and for generations before him. Some of the land still produces friut by another member of the family and many NEW ALPINERS and Old Alpiners continue to purchase produce from the Packs. Im sure some of you who are talking smack about the man have enjoyed the Pack produce and if you have not your not a true Alpiner, just a move in wana-be. Get your facts straight before you start to slam one of the most honest, kindest men in town. He is concerned for YOU who may have the opportunity to move to Alpine one day. Looking out for you so your back yard doesnt back up to the holding pens his does. You see Bergmans have this ranch and Holding pens far from their own home. They dont have to look at that while eating their dinner.

Jill Bergman said it best in this article. "She and her husband moved to Alpine for the rural nature of it but it is becoming less and less rural and more built up". You see like many people who have moved to Alpine for the "Rural" area, want to close the doors behind them and not let anyone else in. What a sad state of mind these people are in. I grew up in Alpine 50 years ago. If the people of Alpine then had the attitude these people have now, where would they be? Not raising, SELLING & BREEDING Alpacas as a "hobbie" EXPENSIVE HOBBIE. There are a lot of good people in Alpine. Wealthy and not. Then there are those that once they are in, if they can keep you out and shut the door on you,they will. Mr. Pack is not a rich developer. That is Rod Bergman. Mr.Pack wants to develope his land & make sure the Bergmans are just as they say they are, a "hobbie", but Jill Bergman admits in this article she wants more and wants to build an industry instead of a cottage industry, and they say they are not a business.
