Hey, I kept reading and hearing in the media that Utah was different. What gives? The cognitive dissonance is making my head hurt. Make it go away!

Once again, you've buried the lead. Big headline trumpeting a big increase in foreclosures. Then half way through the story, an expert quoted as saying there's no clear trend in Utah regarding foreclosures and that the state is more stable that most others. Statistics can be mis-leading, which you've proven by citing the case in Vermont. Please give us more perspective instead of big headlines that don't accurately reflect the overall housing picture in Utah.

Homes in trouble around us has been a shock! It's like a growing cancer. I started circling homes in trouble. My paper is filled in. Looking back just ten years gives one deep concern.

Can't spell bUst without Utah | 2:34 p.m. March 13, 2008
Dont worry TOT, KSL is doing its best to perpetuate a false sense of reality with their Whats Going Right in Utah and Wells Fargo predicts small slump in Utah economy stories that are running today.

Memo to people with their heads in the sand: Just because you tell yourself that is everything is okay, doesnt make it so. The fact of the matter is that foreclosures will continue to increase and home prices and sales will continue to fall throughout the end of the year.

One could argue that Utah is number one for mental health problems because of the delusion and hallucinations that a majority of home sellers have regarding the value of their homes. For those who need or have to sell their homes, they will have to drastically reduce their asking price or enjoy foreclosure. This delusion is just one of the many reasons why things will be much worse in this market than many want to believe.

This is great news for the local housing market and the overall correction. I cant wait for the Spring Bust!

Place blame where it is deserved | 2:55 p.m. March 13, 2008
Too many people took out mortgages they didn't read or didn't understand. Anything to get into a house, right? I have absolutely 0 sympathy for anyone that gets into financial problems because of their own ignorance. If you are going to make a purchase as large as a house at least have the common sense to read and understand what you are getting into.

not immune | 4:55 p.m. March 13, 2008
While Utah housing prices did not rise to the extent they did in other states and therefore will not fall as drastically, we are not immune from the national trends. We also tend to lag the rest of the country, so our pain will come at a later time. It will not be as great as that pain felt elsewhere, because we were not on as great a roller-coaster ride.

I am getting tired of all the billboards and commercials put out by utah realtors claiming that utah's market is strong, don't be fooled by national trends, blah, blah, blah!! Things aren't great. Just look around! Realtors aren't the best ones to ask, since their living depends on it.
