Congrats to Jenteal, I've seen her play and she certainly is deserving as was her team mate Dani Petersen. I also thought the Gehring gal from Wasatch could have been in there. One question for the D News. I have yet to see a final top 20 poll for either the girls or boys basketball. Are we to assume that Skyline is #1 Skyview #2 Wasatch #3 and so forth? What would AP and College Coaches polls be if after the bowl games they didn't finish the job. Just wondering!!!!!!
Alle Finch is a JUNIOR!
Way to go Gabi Girl! Congratulations and keep up the hard work. We are proud of you!
I thought point guard Sheila Adams from Layton should have been on the first team. How is it that she is the top guard in the state with the most points and NOT on the first team? That's ridiculous.
When the player who is the number 1 scorer AND ALSO the number one 3 point shooter in the state is not included on the Deseret all-state 1st team, it raises serious questions about the validity of the criteria used to select the team and makes one wonder if the Deseret all-state 1st team truely represents the "top" players in the state.

Sheila Adams is an amazin basketball player she owns when it comes to basketball!!!!! Shes my Hero
It shows the lack of knowledge with high school coaches and the validity of Deseret News when the number one scorer in the state in points and three-pointers made doesn't make 1st team.
I know because Dnews is in Bountiful that you are high on the local teams, but Hosking, a player who didn't show up for most of her senior year makes the team over Adams. It is a joke and you should look into how the voteing is done and put players on the team who deserve it.
I think that you obviously dont know much. Hosking had a great year. ""Anyone can be the number one scorer in the state if you throw up a hundred shots a game. Look at the percentage of shots and the rest of the game. it is not all about scoring. It is about being a team player and passing the ball off so others can also score. It is too bad that you have to personally attack one player to make yourself or others look better. All of the highschool coaches have seen hosking play and that is why she is on the all-state team. "Besides the fact she is also a great person who always tries to help others before herself. She is a great student who works hard in school which also shows. since she was also on the all-state all academic team. "Take a look one more time and you will see that the players on the all-state team do deserve it. Id hate to see the stats if hosking had "shown" up for most of her senior year. They would have been off the charts. give it a rest its over!!
Maybe you should look at Adams Field goal percentage before saying she shot 100 shots per game. I have never played with a player who made her teamates better than Sheila Adams does. She shot the best feild goal percentage of the guards which included 3 pointers. Then you can look at assists to turnovers which was awesome. She basically did what she needed to do to make her team better. I don't know who I would take off the first team. But, Sheila Adams is the best guard I've played with in Utah and definately deserved to be on the first team. But knowing Sheila and the great person she is. I am certain she is honored to have been named to the 2nd team All State. Good luck in college Sheila. I'm sure we'll see you in the NCAA tourney.
