Thanks to Mayor Russ Wall and others, Mobile home owners now have some protection against greedy land owners of Mobile home parks trying to make exorbitant amounts of money from the fast sale of their land while displacing people who can't afford the out of reach cost of buying homes or renting appartments. HB48 should also include along with the 9 month notice, that people living in the Mobile homes also have the 9 months rent free. Not every person is going to be able to relocate their Mobile home to a different park. This money could be used to help with rent on an appartment, first and last months rent,cleaning deposit, move in expensences. I think that the land owner and the developer should share in the cost of the relocation and the cost of the 9 month rent givin to the Mobile home owners. There is a reason why people live in Mobile homes, the can't afford what most people can.

Rick, why exactly should people get free rent? That is what Welfare and Social Security are for. If people got 9 months of free rent in Mobile homes, why not apartments? Why not give people 1 year off their mortgage? Why not have free housing for everyone? Oh yeah, because thats communism.

We were sad in CH when the land the mobile home park was on was sold. It was, without doubt, the nicest mobile home park I had ever seen. We loved the people there, and knew many of them couldn't afford to move. Also, some had homes built before '78, which made them illegal to move. We are grateful to the new owners (developer) and the city for the ~$1M donated to help those that couldn't afford it to move. While I'm glad this law gives people time to find a place to move to, I find it disturbing that this law prevents cities from helping now.

If I owned a mobile home park and was even thinking of selling the land I would give the nine months notice NOW before the laws were changed to add moving costs.

I am really disturbed with the way mobile home owners are referred to and treated. I am not on welfare, nor am I poor as some seem to suggest because I live in a mobile home park. I have chosen to live there because I happend to like it, and I have a lovely home. But I do agree with getting something done about these greedy developers who are buying up the parks. I can't stand the sight of them, and the word "developer" sends me into orbit. We do need protection from them! They are the worst kind of predators in the world.

Gee, "Resident". Wonder what you think of the person that originally "developed" the park you are living in? I'm glad you have a beautiful home. I wish everyone did. I also wonder if the reason that these parks are going away is because property owners are getting tired of having to fight every year for the right to do what they wish with the property they own?

Dear "thinking for myself" are you a developer or are you just bashing those of us who live in mobile homes?

To Sarahs comment made on March 10th. The people are not getting free rent, it states that during the 9 months, they can not raise the rent. They already are going through trauma and a huge nightmare, not to mention the expense of having to move. Imagine having to move, no where to move, or no money to move. If you took a poll, you would find out this situation makes people sicker than what they were. Have a heart and prayers for the people.

Here's the thing, I put my home on your property--my HOME. Laws are not tough enough on mobile home park owners given this very basic verbal contract. I agree the rent should be free during the moving out period, and then some. Moving a mobile home is a very big deal, and can damage it. This is why people should be very choosy when putting a home in a park.
