Arrest them and prosecute them. Bigamy is against the law. I can't figure out why Utah law enforcement doesn't go after these communities and law breakers.

Has anyone ever heard of a positive story come out of one these communities? Child abandonment, Child molesting and forced marriage of children to older men. Them are some of the things I have heard in just the last few years.

It's not bigamy, it's Polygamy, duh. They're very different.

But if these boys don't leave the community, there won't be enough 14-year old girls to go around!

Anonymous: Actually its polygyny that the Short Creek people practice; polygamy is having two or more wives or husbands. Either way, its too bad these boys get thrown away.

Polygamy and bigamy are one and the same under the law. If you have more than one spouse that is bigamy, male or female whether that marriage be legal or in a religious ceremony or even in come cases common-law.

Mostly only in Utah does Bigamy and polygamy mean the same thing. Historically, bigamy was a crime of fraud. It was when a person would legally marry more than one person without the knowledge or consent of the spouse. It really is a different issue. In polygamy cases, the parties all are aware of each other. Utah and a couple other states have restated their bigamy laws to incorporate polygamy causing the confusion.
In most states a charge of bigamy is sought only if the offended spouse wishes it. The confusion in UT/AZ and TX complete.

There are an awful lot of kids roaming downtown SLC who are rejects of "good" LDS homes.
