Thank you for your commitment to sharing the news about the Church on a worldwide basis. W.W.Phelps, a new frontier type, would have had a www like this. Congratulations.

I have been reading articles from it for the past 10 days and love it. It fills a vital niche and offers a great variety of articles--academic, entertainment related, history, political, etc. Thanks to D.N. for making the effort to provide this relevant and interesting information for readers in a user-friendly fashion. The website's availability and desire are imperative in our dot.com society. Truly love the opportunity to explore links to academic articles and apologetic research, as well as responses to perennial criticisms of LDS practices and doctrines. Keep it up! DLH

In my last comment I meant "design" not "desire" in one sentence. Sorry for the confusion.

IN THE VILLAGE by Orson Scott Card really hit home to me. My dear wife (of 56 years) passed away on 1/1/08 after a two year battle with cancer. She was always a pure example of patience with our grandchildren. I have not always been that patient with unruly grandchildren..and have recently made a personal commitment to do better ...and now bolstered by the article "Cleaning of 'wonderful handprints' can wait"...I'm now moving on to follow the advice from the oft quoted phrase, "Forget yourself, and go to work"
MormonTimes is clearly a great addition to the Deseret News services. I also enjoy very much the NewHarmony column by Jerry Johnston.....so keep up the great work!

I applaud the Deseret News this effort. I really appreciate rare sighting of some of the Blacks issues covered under the "Doctrines & Beliefs" link. This topic is generally avoided. It would be more complete when it has information about the Blacks in the Scriptures DVDs. This is the greatest work on the subject that we've ever had and all members should know about it, and will truly understand our doctrines after viewing them.

just wondering

So, you will notice that there's no space to comment on the articles there. The Deseret News owns both sites. Who made the decision that that site isn't discussable?

Bubba Luv

just wondering: It's called maintaining the status quo. The LDS Church isn't about to let people make random comments, especially when some of those comments might be negative, inflammatory, anti-LDS, etc. It's called 'control' and that is the LDS Church's M.O. at all times.

Judgemental

Can we have another topic in Utah besides the mormons? They are so judgemental of other people when we keep to ourselves we are not bad people if we dont go to church

Thanks Des News

Thanks for making the new site. I don't live in Utah, and the only reason I was reading the desnews was for the info that is now available on the new site. I was getting really tired of all the negative attitudes in the comments, and snide anti remarks. Please keep the new site comment free.

No brainer

After reading comments left on the DesNews site, why would they consider adding it to a new site? I would go so far as to hope that they're considering removing it from this one and going back to putting more of the news in a more easily accessible format.

Actually

The LDS Church owns the SL Tribune as well. They just need a barometer to see what the other people think of them..

To Bubba and Just Wondering

Its called limiting the hecklers to streets near Temple Square during conference. LDS faithful hear ENOUGH of you guys and need a place to read where your opinion isn't crashing in on them all the time.

Go join the Huckabee for VP campaign will ya?

Thanks News

Um, no likie remarks, no readee.

cant get enough

that is living in utah

Again?

This was hyped a few weeks ago.
Whats the matter? Need to get more people to the site?

I have been pleasantly surprised at how interesting the new section and readers' comments have been. Kudos to the Deseret News for going in this direction. I have to say I was pretty skeptical when I heard about this, but I have to give credit where credit is due. I have particularly found Emily Jensen's Blogernacle roundups a useful resource.

What the heck is the LDS Church News for? Seems redundant to me. What a silly idea!

Great!

To Judgemental:
If you "keep to yourself" why are you commenting on this article? Your perception of what people think about you and what they actually think about you may be two different things. If your curious, read the new website. If not, that's okay. The rest of us can enjoy it and we can go about our own ways. No big deal, right?

Shelly

Thanks so much for the new Morman Times section and the website. So good to read positive things. It's a little like Church News "light". Love it!

I love your new website, MormonTimes.com. We've needed this for a long time.
