Well here you go, Jazz/Sloan haters, sloan called time out. Watch Deron he is starting to be the leader and he and his team knows it. Also, Okur is playing inside/outside, and is playing like a veteran.
Go Jazz!

Doug

Good. Sloan has learned how to use time-outs to win games. And now that he has Korver, he won't have to learn how to deal with a zone defense--Korver seems to know how to do that.

Sinan

On one of my latest comments, i wished Korver to support Memo by his 3 pts shots and it happenned here. I'd wished to be a rich man :-) GO KORVER, GO MEMO, GO JAZZ

manny

its about time . the jazz need to quit playing down to there competition and blow these sorry teams out.i think the jazz still need a defensive big man who can rebound and block shots. hopefully one will be available on the waiver wire and were smart enough to pick them up.

JazzFan4ever

Defense, defense and more defense.Nice game... but it was against memphis.22 games left on a schedule that is very favorable towards the Jazz. They should finnish strong say 19-3 or 20-2.

Hot Rod

A gentle push, and a mild arc, and the cowhide globe hits home

Chukar

Where are all the Sloan bashers Now??? He just coached them past a bad team that was playing good. Sloan is the man. Most underated coach ever

Over-Hype

Just remember Jazz fans we had a 2 point lead with just over 8 minutes left in the game. Boozer left for the night and with team ball we went on a run to secure it. Keep in mind that up until that point we were stuggling against a bottom feeder. Fact-We should put these kind of teams away much earlier than that. That victory should not get anyone overly excited about this team. I think one big item is missing with this team, and it is easily corrected if they care as much as we do and that is total EFFORT on a consistant basis. Nothing else will do.

fred

There is NO WAY the jazz finish 19-3 or 20-2; look at the last six games alone. Let's be fans, but keep our heads on straight at the same time.

To:Carlos Boozer

The defensive end will determine how far we go this season. Defense is the most important thing. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. Even I've bought into that.

sloan hater

great, they BARELY beat one of the worst teams.

don't forget sloans masterful benching of korver and other substitutions during the loss to the twolves.

20 years and still waiting

AK Fan

Play ball. Involve everybody. Jazz need energy guy. JAzz is one of youngest team in NBA but doesn't have that kind of energy. May be it comes from Coach. Withou AK Jazz has no chance.

Jason Hart = Worthless

There are no veteran leaders on this team. When Fisher left, it really hurt this franchise especially on the road.

Fisher's absence

I completely agree that Fisher's absence has hurt the Jazz. That's not to say his actual play was always phenomenal, but his leadership and ability to help close out games was key. Hopefully his presence last year was enough to help D-Will and the younger players start to figure some things out, and maybe his absence now is giving them the opportunity to learn quicker on their own (with obvious growing pains)--but I think a lack of veteran leadership has hurt. Obviously there are some other issues with this team, but I think that is one that many people overlook. So much upside with this team, but they have yet to develop that mental toughness that is needed to be a true championship contender. Hopefully they will keep progressing...

Oldjazzsmack

To those who think boozer will ever play defense, you are only kidding yourself.

You must get defense from your bigmen, particularly your power forward.

I am not sure what difference he is making:

he scors 10 pints they lose.
he scores 34 points they lose.
He scores something in the middle they win.
They take him out they comeback and win.

What difference is he making?

You want to win a championship you must have defense.

Boozer has never changed since he began playing here. He is undersized and only intersested in things that show on the stat sheet: points and rebounds. And if the offense wasn't designed around him he wouldn't have that many points.

I think Okur is okay, Atleast when he decides wants to play. Although he might be more valubale off the bench.

But boozer has never been and I doubt he will never be interested in playing defense. An he is undersized. Your big men must be big.

Trade him while may still have value, other wise we will be stuck with him forever. AND NO CHAMPIONSHIPS!

T-Will

I want to see the Jazz emerge as a top tier west conference team. I know they are young and good things are to come but the Jazz need to put bad teams away early. It seems like they only play as good (or worse) than the team they're playing.

All About the Jazz

First, Jazz will NOT go 20-2 or 19-3, wishful thinking, but I will eat every word if I am wrong. Second, AK has not lost it or his heart. Did any of hear what Big-T, Thurl Bailey said? I somewhat agree with him. I hope and pray that AK can withstand injuries and illnesses, we need him to go deep into the playoffs. Before any of you AK haters or Sloan haters continue on your personal hate vendetta, start looking at Boozer. I want to like him, but it is difficult. The guy always makes excuses and never walks the walk, just talks the talk. He will NOT play "D" and that pisses me off. At least Okur is trying harder. What the heck is Booz doing? I like several of your posts on Booz; I am glad people are starting to figure him out. I don't agree with "old jazzsmack" his size is fine, heck look at Barkley. Bozz is almost the same size as Malone, the difference is he has no heart, is selfish, and doesn't know how to play at both ends. This will NOT get it done, period. I am out.

N Yazzie

It seems the Jazz will do well in the playoffs - that is if they play only home games. Utah will have an NBA championship?

How many other teams have gone nearly 35 years without a championship?

How many other NBA teams have had two all-stars and a good supporting cast and could only take the Bulls to six games in two championship series?

Seems like it takes a cohesive team, humming on all cylinders, each player knowing, accepting, and working his hardest to fulfill his role.

Seems like each player has to be focused on team first, with nothing to prove except "the win" on any given night.

Seems like there has to be something exceptional about the coach, like the ability to teach, motivating a sustained effort as a team over a longer than necessary season. I think most of all the coach's leadership should be beyond reproach in the locker room; on the court; and with the players individually. Relationships are built and earned based on mutual respect and admiration.

The Jazz have been very entertaining since 1979. It becomes frustrating when they're close, but not enough effort is made to maximize their potential.

Retire Sloan.

Concerned About Booz

I am really concerned with Boozer and his horrible defense. He doesn't walk the walk, just talks the talk. Please don't bash Sloan, AK, or even Hart. Look at Boozer; we are paying this guy millions to do what, play only offense? I disagree with "oldjazzsmack" his size is fine; he is almost the same size as the mailman, so how can you say he has no size?? Look at Charles "Chuck" Barkely who is way smaller than Booz, the difference is the Mailman and Chuck had heart, passion, and could play defense. Also, we need AK to go deep. I am just worried about his health; Big-T Thurl Bailey made a great point about AK's body fat and health. Very interesting. Back to Boozer, I want to love Booz, but if you can't bring the D every night, move on, we don't need half-hearted play in Utah. This is not good for D-Will; he has to know that Booz is way to soft to win a championship. I hope and pray this doesn't effect his decision to stay in UT. Go Jazz..

Jed

You guys are making comparisons between Boozer and Malone/Barkley. I just want to make sure you understand that Barkley was INFAMOUS for not playing D. Watch the replay that Jazz fans love to watch when Stockton sent the Jazz to the Finals. Who was guarding him? Barkley. He just ran at him half-heartedly with his hands in the air. His defense is a common joke around the TNT studio. Very funny guy, but played no D. Kinda like Boozer...
