Boa sorte rapaz!
Vai firme para Las Vegas e no NCAA!
What a fun player to watch....when he's hot, watch out....when he's not, still loves the game and any shot he can get....seems to think this is just a game. What a refreshing thought with all the bleacher-critics/coaches whose life seems to revolve around wins or losses.
Sounds like a keeper !!!
When he is off he should stop shooting, he has blown some opportunities in close games byu lost. He can be a good shooter, but he is still very inconsistent.
2-12 again which is normal whenever good defensive players show up.......sounds like a great kid but he still remains a liability versus an asset against quality opponents.
To Annonymous who chose to write in Portuguese. Don't count the Cougars short on making it to the NCAA. They have had games against the best of competition, including Wake Forrest, North Carolina, Louisville and Michigan State.
To PeanutY,
Anonymous wasn't counting the Cougars short, he was basically wishing them luck in Vegas and the tournament (literally it is translated as "Go strong to Las Vegas and in NCAA!").
I think Tavernari has a lot to learn. He seems overly anxious when he plays, and he seems to let bad play get to him. He either has good games or bad games it seems. I think when he's good he's great, but he needs to settle down a little bit. Love the game, but calm down and play smart when you're having an off day. I think that when he gets to that point, to where those bad games don't affect him and he can play smart, then he will be an awesome player. You either get super excited watching him, or you get very frustrated with some of his decision making.
No one is more frustrating that Trent. JT has evolved his game when he is not hot and really energizes the team with this excellent defense and brilliant assists. Trent still does not know how to go strong to the hope and probably never will figure it out. BYU would be unstoppable if TP upped his game
JimmyCrack your name says it all. If JT has evolved his game then he has evolved it in the wrong direction. You must not have the Mountain and miss most games because I have yet to see "excellent" defense and "brilliant" assists. You obviously missed his stat line this year: Assists: 1.5/game; Turnovers: 2.0/game. Maybe on crack that looks good, but those numbers aren't anything to brag about. FG%: 39%, since when is that lighting it up especially when he shot 47% last year. Do a little more homework for credibility sake and maybe your argument will stand a little stronger.
JT seems like a wonderful young man. He is certainly a positive reflection on the BB program, the university and the church. However, I cannot bear listening to him speak longer than 30 seconds. He's beloved by reporters, I assume, because you need not ask many questions before his stream of consciousness takes over. Also, I don't like how he is favored by media who ought to be talking to the other players as well. Remember, no one likes a ball hog or a publicity hog.
That is why is it easy to overlook his swearing and cussing on the floor. Read that filthy mouthed kids lips during a game sometime, but it must be okay to drop F bombs - he has a great testimony of the prophet and can walk on water and his such a great example...
He makes me sick, and I want him off of BYU's team.
He seems like a fine young man but he should have gone on a mission and follow the teachings.
It's really not our call whether or not JT served a mission...that's between him and the Lord. I'm pretty sure it's none of our business, including mine...
As a season ticket holder and one who has watched every game, I have not noticed him dropping F bombs all over the floor, also if he does curse some, nobody is perfect, so get off your high horse and off his back!
More of the same from BYU people - self righteous comments that make others loathe the university so much. Stop judging others, lest ye be judged. Tavernari is an awesome player, especially when his shot is on. He still needs to overcome his "shoot first" mindset, which at times he shows flashes of, and he has thrown some pretty sweet assists in to guys cutting the lane. He's only been a member for two and a half years, and missions aren't for everyone...I have some cousins who didn't go but that doesn't make them sinners.
Don't fall for this obvious troll. "Brother Flynn" is obviously just trying to make BYU fans look bad. You would be surprised how many BYU haters spend their worthless lives on these message boards intentionally posing as Cougar fans to make the real ones look bad.
You got caught!! Don't bite on these people like "Brother Flynn" who are just trollers.
Rock on J.T.
every young man should be a missionary or you are not following the prophet. i and all of my brothers served missions because the prophet commanded us. i am now the second counselor in our ward sunday school presidency. these athletes should not be exempt from the commandments. may the cougars be good examples to the saints.
