I wish the Jazz had the Heart to not let these type of games get away. In early april the difference btwn 1-2 seeds or 7-8 may be cupcakes like Minn, LAC, Miami, Memphis and 3 straight to Portland. Maybe this is the maturation process but opening at San Antonio doesn't sound good does it.

my opinion | 6:37 a.m. Feb. 27, 2008
Just my opinion, but forcing the ball inside was part of the problem last night. The turnovers were way up last night "in my opinion" because as the ball went inside, whoever had the ball put their head down and forced up bad/off balanced shots. The defense to me really seemed to pack it in some last night, and while defenses have really focused on staying with Korver when he is in the game. I noticed several times last night that their were several times that he was open, but Okur, and Millsap were bound and determined to take a shot inside. They would have had more success last night if they had focused on keeping the offense spread and the defense off balance. Most of the turnovers (in my opinion)were caused by a packed in defense, and trying to force passes inside that were not there.

Jimmy wonders what happened to Memo's little 5 foot jump hook that he used to shoot? He was getting pretty good at that at one point.

Is it just me, or does it seem that the same players on the Jazz roster who fell flat on their faces last year after the All-Star weekend are repeating history this year (i.e. Okur)?

Who would we sign now? PJ Brown? Well, I would take him over collins it's better to have a penny than nothing at all.
Joe | 8:08 a.m. Feb. 27, 2008
I agree. The Jazz would be much better off without Collins. Mark Eaton could come out of retirement and play better than Collins. Collins is a BIG waste of time and money on the Jazz part. They should have let him go to europe or somewhere else 3-4 yrs ago when they resigned him for another four painful years

So Collins is the reason the Jazz lost to the Clips and Timberwolves? Hmmm...I checked the box score and Jarron had the same stats I did: 0 points in 0 minutes.

Collins is what he is: a very cheap end-of-bench reserve who can play limited minutes in case of injuries or foul trouble.

The losses are attributable to horrible games by AK and Memo, turnovers and a lack of defense. And Booz and Deron talk a great game about needing to be focused against lesser opponents, but they need to back up their talk.

I do agree with "my opinion." During the time I was able to watch the debacle (vs. wretching in the bathroom), I noticed Memo or someone else trying to take the ball inside and either turning it over or taking a wild shot. Problem is, neither Memo nor AK are post-up players. And Boox shoots fade-aways. We don't have an inside game.

Look up in the sky, what is it? It's Ostertag to the rescue, come on INK THE BOY.

i also noticed that Korver was open a lot on the wing and Memo wouldn't even look at him team basketball boy's both defense and offense, could Kover and Brewer be out there together just a thought

Mark Eaton coming out of retirement! You have got to be joking. If you are really wondering why Sloan is dumb enough to put Collins in is because he actually plays something called defense. Can you say defense boys and girls. Sure I knew you could. Lets hope or at least pretend other Jazz players will play as good as defense as Collins with less fouls.

The Jazz are doing what they did last year. Remember anyone? They had a nice lead on the Rockets and starting losing games against terrible teams and lost their home court to Houston. If they are not careful, the same will happen with Denver this year, they will catch Utah if they continue this way. I love the Jazz and they are very talented, what I honestly think they are missing is a sole leader on the team which I think Booz and D Will are still learning and someone like a Marcus Camby of a Tyson Chandler in the middle, they need a tall, athletic Center to altar and block shot. I hope they swing a deal and get a shot blocker, the problem is where do you find that is a league that is lacking Centers so badly? Hopefully the Jazz will bounce back tonight. If not, December may be repeating itself.

I think Memo from this point on needs to be agressive inside in everygame he plays in. His outside shot will always be there for the most part.He really needs to mix it up inside in preparation for the playoffs and it wouldn't hurt him to get a little bit more of a burn in the weight room. Memo,Boozer and Millsap need to start going after the boards like each one is worth 4 points because they are not known as defensive stoppers but they are decent rebounders.
As far as people getting on Andrei because of one off night give me a break, have you guys ever played basketball? Nobody shoots great every night.I feel andrei is only going to continue improving clear up and into the playoffs. He's been the consumate professional this year playing with patience and within the offense. He has showed himself to be the ultimate team player rarely taking a shot if another player is open. He has been playing basketball the way it was meant to be played.

Hollywood, do you realize that Collins wasa signed to be a backup? He got demoted to being a end of the bench player. But he is our backup on paper. Sloan is now forced to go with a 3-man rotation at the 4 and 5 spots with an underized trio of Booz/Millsap/Okur. Boozer is our backup C right now. That shouldne be the case if the Jazz are really trying to contend in a West that is getting stacked at the 5 spot.
While they have somewhat addressed their SG and backup PG issues, unless they fix the 5 we wont get past the Lakers and Spurs

Boys and girls the Jazz don't run a traditional scheme featuring a true large center who is offensively effective. Okur and Boozer occupy most of the attention and effort that a center would provide if the Jazz had one...which they do not....and the Jazz pick and roll is still part of the game package. What we have is an immature team who are at their best when they can get into the open court and if the break is not there...then crisp passing to set up open looks is what they do when they are the most effective. What happened last night, what we saw was the Wolves coaches shutting down the Jazz running game by going to the offensive boards with the Jazz failing to get in there and get bodies on them and get control of the rebounding. And as the game progressed the Jazz lack of bench scoring was exposed....the referees screwed up a few calls as well....but that is just part of the NBA on the road. What is frustrating is the Jazz road game strategy as to game play and adjustments is just not going to get the job done. Jerry and Phil...kick their butts!!

Jazzguru | 2:44 p.m. Feb. 27, 2008
Please tell me you were joking about the Ostertag comment. He is better than Collins, but don't use the term Ostertad to the rescue cause he aint the answer. Come on. How many balls did Tag fumble out of bounds and missed layups did we have to watch.
Adam Queeth | 2:48 p.m. Feb. 27, 2008
Sombody has been taking it inside but it's not memo.
RE: Hollywood | 4:48 p.m. Feb. 27, 2008
I agree with part of Hollywood's comments. Deron talks a nice game of play hard against teams like Minn. but if you watch his play last night he was not interested in even attempting to play defense. He would come over to double team and just kind of stand around with his hands up and do really nothing and his perimeter defense consited of looking at his opponents rear end on the way to the hoop. What killed the Jazz was that they forgot what color of uniform they were wearing and how to box out. PLAY HARD EVERY NIGHT OR OUR PLAYOFF RUN WILL BE ALOT SHORTER THAN LAST YEAR!!!

You all seem to have all the answers, can anyone of you subbmit a application with any ability to coach at all. I doubt it, well then quit whining like little girls, and enjoy the games, and what you see is what you get!
