I knew when I heard Sloan say that he "doesn't mind his team shooting
3's as long as they make them" that we were in trouble. This
philosophy cuts at the confidence of even the best shooters.

You are right on the money about Sloan. Telling a player he better not miss is
a threat not to shoot 3 pointers ever. Shooting a basketball well is ALL about
confidence and fluid motion without much thought. No player can make shots
consistantly when he is worried about Sloan's doghouse.
The day that Jerry takes a backseat to the players and gets out of the way (so to speak) is the day the jazz turn the corner. Jerry is all about Jerry and making sure he get all the credit for success.

I'm telling you right now that the honeymoon with Sloan and Korver is over.
The jazz are down by 10-15 with about 6 minutes go and Korver is on the bench,
what an idiot sloan is.
When sloan went on his rant about 3 pointers the other day is was all about Korver getting credit for the turn around in the season and sloan can't stand the fact that it exposed him as a coach for being so far behind the times!!

Sad but true, I'd hate to have the Three Amigo's covering my backside
if going to battle. Kirilenko pretty much runs for cover at the mere mention of
physical contact. Okur's head is totally not in the game, it's like
he's in a daze. Where's passion? Where's the desire? I'd
rather watch Plaisted, Cummard and company.

Ok so I just spent a half an hour analysing the best teams in the NBA and there
losses to dumpy teams. Heare is what I found. Each elite team is listed and
below is the teams they lost to.....

This reminds me of last year. The Jazz would beat the best teams in the league
and lose to the worst teams. They definately play to the level of the
competition. Don't be surprised when they beat the Pistons tonight, but
don't expect the Jazz to advance far in the playoffs, as they won't
have home court advantage.

Korver needs to focus on playing Sloans type of baskeball and quit shooting 3
pointers. The jazz don't need a guy like Korver messing up Jerry's
offense by shooting 3 pointers.
Sloan should bench Korver if he isn't going to buy into the system and do what he is told.

The greatest losers I see here are the negative commentators. Especially those
who can't get their facts straight. There aren't many teams who have
won more games than the Jazz lately. They are also one of the most consistent
teams in the league. Can you find a more consistent team? The Bulls, the
Lakers, the Celtics? They've all had their ups and downs. That's the
nature of the business. The Spurs were so bad before their good fortune in
having David Robinson injured that fans were worried about losing the team. The
Jazz have had only one bad season in 20 years, and even that was a fun team to
watch because they played hard. Just be glad you don't have to watch a
bunch of lazy players trot slowly up and down the court, which I saw once when
the Nets were in town about 10 years ago. Sloan, Miller and O'Connor, as
well as the Laydens in the past have had a lot to do with Jazz success, and this
all in spite of having only a couple of early draft choices in two decades. Who
would you naysayers rather have as a coach?

How about everyone who writes in can only say how much they love the jazz and
what a great coach sloan is and how lucky we are to have a 7th played team.
Lets just pat each other on the back and tell each other how great we are; that

The Jazz as they are currently made up are pretenders not contenders! Memo is
useless now that teams are playing him more with smaller defenders. Quote of the
day....from Jerry of course. Memo can't just hang around the three point
line all game. Jerry that's like calling yourself an idiot. You are the
coach, you are the one who is responsible to post up Memo on smaller guys if
that's the way they match up. Jerry you call all the plays.....wake up over
there and call a timeout before the Jazz get down by 10 in the 4th. Also having
all your best players out of the game at the same time makes no sense and
waiting to bring them all back at the 6 minute mark in the fourth qtr isn't
very smart either. Next.......

The fact of the matter is that the sloan supporters are fans of mediocrity. Perhaps the critics know the potential and are tired of seeing defeat snatched from the jaws of victory due to a 20 year old offense (a title-less one as well).

The Timberwolves had 4 guys score over 20 points. That exposes the Jazz #1
weakness. How does one of the lowest scoring teams in the league have 4 guys
score over 20? You know it is one thing to have an off night, but what makes
teams like San Antonio so good is even when they have an off night shooting,
their defense is so tough that it keeps them in the game and wins it many times.
The Jazz need to commit themselves to defense and everything else will fall
into place, their offense is good, great bench, great coach (some would argue
that) it needs to start with a commitment to play defense and not foul all
night,that gets old. Come on Jazz, toughen up and let's gear up for the
playoffs!

The reality is that they look up and see a "cushion" between them and
Denver-so they loaf. They see the other teams in front of them getting further
ahead and the others near them staying even so unfortunately they seem to be
satisfied to coast into the post season. Anyone remember how they limped into
last years playoffs finishing the season playing sub .500 ball? Get ready for a
repeat. They will do just enough to get by. Seems to be their M.O..

My office buddies (and Lakers fans) here in L.A. keep telling me Utah needs and
interior presence. I can't disagree. BUT WE HAVE AN INTERIOR PRESENCE.
His name is FESENKO! We need to pull this dude up and let him get into a rhythm
before playoff time (yes, Utah will still make the playoffs). Bring in Fes and
we'll have that decent interior presence who can give you 10-12 solid
minutes. WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR??????

I agree. Playing fesenko for 10 min again will not affect our play off run in
the slightest. Besides this Okur is not the answer to our center. We have 2
people that can shoot the 3 in Korver and williams. And even kirelenko as of
late. Let our guards do the three point shooting and Get Fes in to not score but
rebound and play defense. Okur will make a decent defender and provide a little
offensee for the rest of the season until we trade him next year for andrew
bogut.
Also I am sure your fellow lakers buddies quake in their boots when they think of Fes in the rotation after what he did to them with limited minuites in November. Lakers fans know it, why dont jazz fans? Because half of us are slack-jawed yokels.

Williams needs to get the blinders off and get the ball to the open player and
quit player 2 on 5 basketball, Boozer is a good player and could be alot better
if the defense had to guard all the players on the floor, and not just worry
about stopping Boozer. The Jazz have shooters now that need to get the ball when
their open and not when the defense has closed in. Koover plays alot better when
Price is in the game, Price doesn't look off players he gets the ball to
who is open.

I dont know if it is sloan or not but. Yes we did have a lot of turnover because
we were passing the ball inside. Why didnt we make them pay for interior defense
by pounding them with 3's? Once they ease of and spread the floor let Booze

Do you watch the games? What do you mean they don't listen to
"coach". They did exactly what he tells them to do. On offense, take
it inside and don't shoot 3 pointers even if you are open, and always keep
your eye on the shot clock. On defense, double team anyone in the post and
leave your man if anyone makes a move to the basket.
I get tired of you blaming the players for everything, face it, the players don't like jerry and don't play hard for him. However, they play harder at home because the crowd is great in Utah.
You can already see that jerry doesn't like Korver, he benches him in the 4th quarter when we obviously need points. Our team is shooting more threes than ever before. EVER!! We score more points than any Jazz team. The players are the ones playing the game not the coach. They win when they listen and do as the coach says and they lose when they don't (80% win rate lately). It's fairly obvious.
When Jerry pulls Korver it is because Korver is getting schooled on D which does happen. It has little to do with him shooting 3's. Why do you think they got him you idiot? For his defense? You think Sloan said "ya lets get Korver for his defense?" You fool, it was because Korver could shoot the 3 and spread the floor. Anyone here knows Sloan has as much as anyone to say about what players to go get.
