I'm surprised you let that slip in to your article. Otherwise you managed to avoid actually mentioning the fact that these are ILLEGAL immigration issues, not migration or documentation.

Re: your headline, "Clock Ticking for Migration Bills," we've gotta laugh at your terminology. First you called them "illegal aliens." Then "illigal immigrants." Then just "immigrants." Now you're referring to "migration bills?" Are we talking about flocks of birds here? You bend over backwards to make yourselves politically correct, and you end up sounding ridiculous.

Make no mistake, this is NOT a matter of "running out of time;" it is a matter of a lack of political will to stand up to activists and religious groups who are putting pressure on. The voters are tired of it and will express their dissatisfaction when you are up for re-election.
Mr. Yiapas is not your only constituent.

I suppose when the next election comes around these legislators will expect the electorate to support their re-election. They will send out flyers with sweet pictures of their families and lists of their indless public service and rightly so they will expect to be re-elected. They are probably right. In Utah the majority of eligeble voters are to lazy to inform themselves and vote. Yes the majoriy of citizens want "Illegal immigration" stoped, but the majority of citizens won't impose on them selves to vote. It is a sad day for the state and the nation. Life style and fredom are being lost, possibly forever.

Those of us who are concerned about illegal immigration are accused of wanting to discriminate against ethnic minorities. No, we merely want laws that protect American citizens and LEGAL foreign residents from subsidizing a class of parasites content to milk the American system for whatever they can get out of us. Because of the inaction of the Utah legislature, the milking will continue. Shame!

I clicked on this to see why the sparrows and finches were back already. It's been a strange spring.

Was this an attempt at taking a day off from having to read the comments?

"Mr. Yiapas is not your only constituent." nor is the business community going to elect you if something is not done. SB81 had better be passed, after all, the house passed a much tougher law earlier.

Can you now do an article about the sparrows and finches? Maybe it's my bird feeder?

We have had, this year, ample votes to determine who is willing to stand up and deal with the illegal alien population and the greedy employers who hire them. We have also seen that the LDS church needs cut off at the pockets. That's financial pockets. Let them collect from their compasssionate illegal alien friends.

No more of my money will go to support them! I can read scripture. If it's okay to ignore obeying the law, then I see no reason not to ignore that tithing request either!

The internet can be a great tool for information. I hope the legislature realizes that.

Is Huntsman up for re-election? Are any illegal alien laws going to be passed this year? The house of illegals by me has went from 14 cars down to 5 in the last month. I feel that without any laws passed they will be back once the session ends.

YEAH!!!!
The legislature is listening to the comunity leaders and the business leaders that understand the REAL impacts on families and on the economy of making ilegal aliens unwelcome in Utah. Hopefully we can cancel the negitive portions of SB81 in the next legislative session - before it actually takes effect.
Everyone here complaining about the presence of illegal immigrants are likley the same people complaining about business that follow their labor pool out of the USA. The meat packing plant in Hyrum has never recovered from the raid last year in spite of offering some of the highest wages in Cache Valley. So who's packaging your hamburger? A year ago it was people in Utah. Today it's not thanks to the raid. Soon your meat will all be imported from Brazil and we'll listen to the same bunch of whinning about the "greedy businessman".
So how many of you will pay 50% more for USA packaged meat? Not going to happen.
Get real people. We need this workforce in Utah like it or not. The problem is the existing immigration laws. That's what needs to be fixed.

I agree with Paul Morrell, and thank you at least someone makes a little bit of sense. I'VE BEEN WAITING TO FINALIZE Y RESIENCY PETITTION FOR 10 YEARS. Meanwhile, I'm considered illegal, there is certainly something definetly wrong here. Why does something so simple as a petition take so long? There is where the sistem is failing, Most of the inmigrants,just need an opportunity to make things right, But, the laws don't allow it.
