Use of airport revenues for TRAX blocked

The airport does not need a TRAX line. No one would take the line to the airport with their luggage (if they did can you see how slow the stops would be while passengers load up?) If you can't put your bags on TRAX, why build it to the airport? Lets build TRAX to where the people who actually live here would use it. i.e. West Valley, Mid-Jordan and Draper and maybe one to another west-side city.

If I can catch the frontrunner to the trax station and transfer to trax for a ride to the airport I WOULD! It would save having someone drive me to the airport or paying for parking there. Knowing my car is parked safely in the garage while I'm traveling and that I have a way home when I return without having to call someone and hope they timed it right and the airline is running on time would be a great relief. The people of Salt Lake County need to remember just because they have the largest county by population doesn't mean that civilization ends at it's borders. The other Wasatch Front counties have large populations and infrastructure that enable us to exist without going to Salt Lake for everything and that UTA and the state are willing to recognize this so must Salt Lake County.

I have used light rail at airports several times (example: Portland). It is very convenient to be able to just jump on a light rail train and get to your destination.

In addition there is a large number of people that work at the airport who are also potential riders.

Where is the advocacy? Where is City Councilman Van Turner? Why doesn't he ever stand up and fight for his community?

Also, isn't it bad enough the state senate is once again dictating local policy, but we have a lobbyist who is dictating policy to the state under threat.

There is only one thing both me and Boba Fett can agree with. It's time to get a jet pack!

I am tired of those half bakes on the hill telling my city how to use their own funds! This proves how out of touch with the public our legistators are, everyone would love to be able to ride TRAX to the airport.

It's all about payback. SLC is a progressive city (much to the chagrin of the neanderthal state legislature) and the legislature will do anything and everything to make things miserable for the progressive people of SLC. Why the legislature doesn't see value in such a project is beyond me. SLC owns the airport and is the jurisdiction that levies the taxes.

World class cities have transit connections to their airports (Chicago, NYC/JFK, Atlanta, San Francisco, LAX (sort of), Portland). I find it interesting too that the all knowing clowns on the hill spend millions on a soccer stadium last year against the wishes of a majority of Utahns and raided county coffers to do it, and who's going to use that? I often travel using the SLC airport and I would use transit to get there. It's time, it been discussed for a decade get it done.

It is all about payback. The legislature is adamant in opposing federal dictates over what the state can do and is hypocritical and equally adamant in trying to dictate what Salt Lake City (and County) must do as long Democrats are in charge of the city and county. But this year may produce some changes in the legislative makeup- especially if Hucklebee is the Republican VP candidate. The Republicans will maintain control. but maybe the numbers will change ....
