Buttars Good Guy

I bet this story does not gain ground. It shows that Buttars is a stand up guy. He saw that his bill was not going to do what he thought and then he pulled his support.

Sounds like Buttars is a good guy.

One thing that police departments should not be doing is policing their own officers in criminal acts and investigations. If an officer is charged with criminal acts then it should be the duty of a different police department or the federal government to investigate. Too many cover-ups and truths can be hidden by depratments investigating themselves with biased and false reprots. Partnerships and the 'blue code' of police departments have no place in public service. The 2 man team needs revamping and abolish its concept that has only one purpose, to cover up how individual officers perform their duties in public service. They act as witness for each other whether they act in proper and responsible actions or whether they act criminally in their duties and as a team in all aspects of their jobs. A responsible and honest officer should not fear the acts of his own deeds and actions doing his job. It should not require a fellow officer to act as witness to his actions, or hide his acts if doing wrong. We have to break the 'blue code' to get honest and dependable police departments and get back the trust of the citizens.

A genius!! Buttars shows us more of his intellectual gifts every day.

Makes you Wonder

Makes you wonder if he even wrote the bill or if he was just rubber-stamping some lobbyist or special interests group's legislation.

What incompetence!

hey bob G

Criminal acts commited by police officers ARE investigated by other agencies you idiot. Get some facts before you type gibberish. The "blue code" you speak of does not exist. But I see you watch way too many movies.

Not Healthy

I am very, seriously, worried about Senator Buttar's condition.

Either he is a sneaky racist bigot who gets caught trying to pull off shady bills, and apologizes when he is caught, or is mentally ill.

"This isn't what I thought it was," Buttars said. "I really think this is not a good bill, and if you're going to vote on it, I would vote 'no' at this time."

HE WROTE THE BILL!!!

I think that he better think twice before asking to serve a mission. He seems about two "ticks" away from a breakdown.

Am I the only one worried???

Happy Valley Hillbilly

Any public employee should be held accountable for their actions be they positive or negative. Whether one serves in law enforcement, road maintenance, or government makes no difference. The public who ultimately pays their salary has every right to be informed about the conduct of those who work for them. The only ones who oppose accountability are those who are not meeting up to
the standards for that which they were hired to do.

Coverup

You could not be any more correct- a shining example is currently being watched daily on you tube in the case of the tasering of a motorist by Trooper John Gardner . The UHP was doing nothing about the complaint by the tasered motorist until the video was made public . Then a quick rubber stamp ok was given by the UHD and the taser happy Trooper was turned loose on the public again . An Internal Affairs Investigation was completed over 3 weeks ago along with an Attorney Generals Investigation ,but all results are being held secret . Supposedly the Tooele County Prosecutors Office conducted an Investigation but after over 3 weeks , still no results . Has HB260 already been passed in secret without the citizens being told ?

Racist and dumb? I'm shocked!

I'm shocked and appalled that a legislator would sponsor a bill when they don't know what it does. Such incompetence is one thing but Buttars has also made racist comments recently so this following his racist comments reflects even more poorly on him. What kind of legislator wouldn't study his bill, read it and understand it before sponsoring it. This type of incompetence should tell the people of West Jordan that this guy has to go.

Deseret Dawg

Class act by Senator Buttars. He realized his bill had gone awry, so he did the right thing and pulled the plug, placing the public interest ahead of his ego. You rarely see that type of integrity in politics.

Desert Dawg

You said that "You rarely see that type of integrity in politics".

Someone writes a bill that is so assanine, that when people hear about it, just after the racist thing and homophobe issue. that they realize it will take him past dumber to dumbest, so he has the "integtity" to pull the plug.

You rarely see that type of arrogant stupidity anywhere.

But, at least he has you convinced there Desert Dawg (come on--- you're Mr. Buttars, right?)
