Sounds like "The End" listeners are dropping like flys these days. After the addition of Parker and the dimissal of Mister, I've found myself listening less and less recently. After Chunga's implosion on the air this morning, I officially removed 101.9 as one of my preset stations. Now I have an empty button to fill. Any suggestions??
Love 101.9 | 10:24 a.m. Feb. 25, 2008
In the weeks that followed Mister's leaving the show, I surfed the internet to find out what had happened. I was curious as was many to what happened. I found the blog that was written by a friend of a friend of Mister's and even had it booked marked until the middle of January when I realized that posts were more for trashing who was on the show. It seems that the people who want to find fault with Chunga will find fault and hopefully stop listening. Chunga started off "What's happening, Hot Stuff?" saying that he had missed it and couldn't wait to get it started and then someone called in and talked about this D-News article. That was why Chunga went off. Anyone who has spent time in business realizes that its not personal but business. It's sad that so many have decided to rip on who remains and call them things that I doubt they would say if they were around their kids. I have enjoyed the show for many years and was wondering what I was going to listen to when Chunga left. I am happy that Chunga is still on the air.
Chunga is an ego maniac?? | 10:20 a.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Chunga is a made up CHARACTER. The fact that some people believe he is an egomaniac is a credit to his acting skills!!! Mister heard from others that is hearsay and is not even admissible in court. Fact, Radio jobs turn over all the time. Fact, Management is responsible to run the operation LEAN and make maximum money for the OWNERS. Management is responsible for the change and their careers will live or die based upon the results. To blame the on air talent is ridiculous at best. -Frank, loyal listener, still stuck at work.

Lying is when you deliberately deceive someone. Misrepresentation happens when you put quotes around a phrase, like "making a false statement based on INNACUARTE FACTS", when, in fact, the phrase never previously occurred. A normal reader might easily assume that, because it's in quotes, it's a phrase that appeared before (event if it didn't). Not a big deal, and it's easy to do, but still, doesn't fall under the guise of "lying".

Non compete clauses keep an individual from working within the same industry for a specific time frame. It has nothing to do with keeping your mouth shut. Mister can say anything he wants about the situation because he is not under any contract. Now it might not be wise of him to burn bridges with Citadel but that is a different subject.
Luv ya both equally faults & all | 10:38 a.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I was a little surprised to hear about the article &listened to Chunga's response this morning. I am a fan of both Chunga and Mister. They were the ultimate radio duo and I must admit absolutely loved listening to the BOTH of them. It's been a difficult transition not having Mister but I support and applaude both Chunga & Mister for giving us the 8+ years they did and wish both success in the careers.
!!! | 10:42 a.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I was going to continue to listen to the show, but after hearing Chunga this morning, I'm totally turned off.

Yawn!!
Dan Man | 11:09 a.m. Feb. 25, 2008
There is a difference between would and could. in the report they said that Chunga or Citadel would not comment on Mister being let go. In the line above that statement it said that its against company policy to talk about the termination of an employee. so the previouse line should have read that Chunga and Citadel could not comment. I hate the way that press manipulates words to make the victim of the story more sad, and sappy.
I liked mister, but at the same time, business is business. I've been cut from a job and didn't raise a stink about it. I knew that chunga and mister were friends, and I believe that Chunga tried to get mister back on the show rather than turn his back on him like the report says he did.

This article is too one-sided.
two sides | 11:24 a.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I think we all need to remember that there are two sides to every story and us as listeners have no idea what went on behind closed doors. That being said, in my opininon, the show is now lacking the balance to Chunga's huge ego. I wish both sides the peace they are obviously needing. And for the listeners sake, another on air personality that balances out Chunga. As the show sits now, it is imcomplete...
Anonymous | 11:52 a.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Chunga seems to only care about the opinions of those that brownnose him. Also, I agree with the others that have said his ego is way out of check. There's a certain term Chunga calls other people... and the definition of it is something you use to fix something... Well, I think he needs to look in the mirror.
Mister misser.... | 12:07 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I happened to hear what Chunga said this morning. He confirmed what most of us were thinking. His ENORMOUS ego finally drove Mister out of a job. A word of caution to Chelsea and Cort.......if Chunga will do it with you, he'll do it to you. Look out you guys! Can't wait for Chunga to pursue his so-called acting career and come back with his tail between his legs. Everyone knows he's a horrible actor but he insists on pretending to be the "next big thing." Time will tell. The truth is thisa lot of us were loyal listeners of 101.9 The End, and then when Mister left became occasional listeners. Now Im a non listener and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Its the end of an era.
Jose | 12:13 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I say... move on. Why should Chunga change? It is what it is. Events happened. You either listen or you don't. You either like him (or the show)or you don't. Choose and move on. But I would have to say, after the morning comments this board went nuts. Is that good radio or not? There are other stations. Maybe I will cry over my milk that just got spilled. I liked the Chunga and Mister show. Sad it broke up. But I will choose to move on and best of luck to both. Is this not all a point of view???

yawn, yawn!!
Anonymous | 12:58 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I am surprised at Chunga's rant this morning. Mister didn't say anything bad in the column other than he had HEARD that he was the reason he was let go. A real friend would have taken the time to say - I'm sorry someone told you that - it's not true. Chunga wears the pants in that family and he gets what he wants. If he wanted Mister there, he'd still be there. There's probably some truth to it all.
Kristin | 1:07 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Facts aside, Mister West, stated his experience without a whole lot of offense. He even complimented Chunga saying he was easily one of the funniest men I ever met" Chunga on the other hand fumed and fussed like a child on the air today. I was very unimpressed. Very unprofessional and very immature. I have been a fan of the Chunga and Mister team since 1996. They were clearly superior to any other morning show in the area. Now that Mister is gone, "The Chunga Show" is just another morning show. You can take it or leave it.
Chunga Fan | 1:29 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Not sure why my previous comment (Sent at 11:45am) was not posted. I made an observation that Chunga has build a great brand for himself, which cannot be said about Mister West, who has been the wing man since the inception of the show and got paid a lot of money for just "keeping Chunga in check". Is the fact that my comment was not posted an indication that opinions are censored to favor Mister and his "rallying the troops" to feel sorry for him? Hardly believable.
Chunga Fan | 1:33 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
By the way, Kristin, that is what is called a "backhand compliment". With friends like that, who needs enemies?
Anonymous | 1:38 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Yawn, yawn, ya. . . .oh wait, I READ all the article and have READ all the comments and even took the time to POST A COMMENT ABOUT THE ARTICLE! So I guess it doesn't bore me after all. I guess I just write "Yawn" to put the discussion down in a passive-agressive way.

Chunga and Mister together were the perfect radio personality. Now that they're apart it's all ego and no pathos.

I still listen to the 101.9 morning show, but I'm much more likely to scan the station now than I used to be.

It just ain't the same.
Andy (former listener) | 1:44 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
When Mister left the show, a listener called in asking why Mister left. Chunga's response was that Mister didn't sign a contract. Chunga inferred that Mister was offered a new contract and Mister didn't sign it. Chunga then said he didn't know why Mister didn't sign the contract. However, Mister stated in this article that he wasn't offered a contract. Somebody is lying. Based on behavior of Chunga this morning and Mister's quote (I agree with what Kristin said), you can draw your own conclusions.
Mr Fan | 1:47 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Lets see what Chunga can do without his wingman. Anyone listening to the show still (hopefully fewer after today) know that it is on a downward spiral. I wonder if Chunga will want his wingman back when the ratings come out.
Anonymous | 1:50 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Chunga's supposedly a friend to Mister? Yeah right... Chunga's behind this hands down. His ego was too big for the both of them and he won.
Chunga's a punk, but | 1:58 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
That being said I can see why he is so upset. There was no evidence that Chunga threw Mister under the bus. Badmouthing a sponsor as Mister supposedly did is reason enough to let him go. Even X-96 talks up every sponsor. I am surprised at the outrage of listeners, Chunga was the one thrown under the bus. It is very common for an at-will employer to give no reason for termination it limits liability. It is irionic that I had been boycotting the morning show, but listened this morning and am now more likely to listen if what Chunga says is true.. Chelsea is interesting and mixes things up. Mister will be missed.
Randy | 2:14 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Mister was not offered a contract, and was in fact escorted to the building in early December.

Truth be told, behind the scenes Mister and Chunga had not been getting long for some time. Right about the time Chunga made some.. ahem.. OTHER changes in his life.

He threatened Mister a couple of years ago during the last contract negotiations. (You know, the ones that Casey missed out on.) But, now it seems that Jimmy Chunga has received his wish.

They should put Mister and Casey on a show together somewhere. They seemed to do a pretty good job when Chunga was off "auditioning" for Star Cars X-Men of the Caribbean.
Kenny | 2:13 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
"???" post is right on. Non-compete clauses are flimsy at best, and worthless if there is no compensation given to the former employee during that black out period.
Angry Angerson! | 2:21 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I can't believe that Jimmy Chunga would ... hey, wait a second. Jimmy Chunga. I just got the name! It's a play on words! Ha! HAHAHHA! BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!! Holy crap is that funny. Okay, heck with Mister West, I'm back on board with Chunga. Hee hee, I totally get it now.
Chunga Fan | 2:24 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Chunga -a CHARACTER may I remind you- has been doing just fine without a wingman. It was always the Chunga Show, make no mistake about it. Jocks have come and gone, and he's the one constant factor in the equation. What is that telling you? He does what he was hired to do and he does it well. Mister, on the other had, once lost his post and realized that he had to go back to earning money like the rest of us, has rallied all of his friends and launched a smear campaign against Chunga, the show, talking crap about The End to End advertisers, and anyone who would listen. How's that for "unprofessional and immature" and "a downward spiral"?
uh huh | 2:37 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Mister and Brett Smith were not friends off the air. they were good co-workers. But the low talent actor of Brett Smith just didnt want Mister back to steal some of his thunder. Now he has 2 spinless co-workers Chelsea and Cort to work under him, not next to him. I know both Mister and Brett Smith really well and I wouldnt trust Brett Smith as far as I can throw him.
Anonymous | 2:36 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Chunga Says: My good friend Mickey Mouse, who I hang out with all the time says that I should sick my best friend, Jack Baur on Mr. West. It just so happens that Tom Cruise, who I hung out with last week also used Jack Baur to go after Matt Lauer. I did a few films with my friend Johnny Depp and he said that it would be a bad idea.
Allison | 2:42 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I agree the morning show is just not the same. I still listed but I miss Mister and Chelsea is really really annoying. She is so negative and she seems to think she knows everything. Stick with traffic. I do like the Cort but I do miss Casey.
Rich | 3:07 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Based on all of the comments thus far, Mister was clearly the favorite of the two. Chunga is funny but only that. He is not bringing anything else to that table that is not dry and boring (Chelsea and the other dude).
It appears that the fall of Chunga is near. Yeah!

Public Enemy number One?! Are you kidding me?!
re: Randy | 3:10 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Sources? I know, I know... You have friend who knows someones aunt who is.... blah blah blah. Come on dude your accusations are laughable at best. The fact that you accuse Chunga of Caseys termination. Oh that is rich. Casey got himself fired you moron.
Have you listened | 3:30 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
to the show lately. Chunga (Brett Smith if your so concerned about Chunga being a character) does need help, and do you think Chelsea and Cort can do it? The show isn't as funny and I agree with prior posts that it is going downhill fast!
Chunga Who? | 3:29 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
With the tirade/outburst this morning I have lost all respect for Brett Smith. Maybe his true initials B.S. have deeper meaning???

Even if Mister did say some things...it was very uncalled for to go off like he did. Where is the professionalism in that?

Mister vs. Chunga. My money is on Mister!
Josie | 3:27 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
It's a BUSINESS. Just like movies; just like TV. Shows come and go to do one thing: make money. It's none of any of our business, and any of our comments don't matter one way or the other.

They were business deals, and regardless of how YOU view the number of listeners dropping or how the show is now, in the end (no pun intended) it's all about the number at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

You're a fool to think any different.
how come you didn't post my comm | 3:29 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008

Sources? I know, I know... You have friend who knows someones aunt who is.... blah blah blah. Come on dude your accusations are laughable at best. The fact that you accuse Chunga of Kaseys termination. Oh that is rich. Kasey got himself fired you moron.
Ska Bob | 3:35 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
The show has been declining for years. Now that Mister is gone the entertainment value is so low that Sports Talk is more interesting.
Scotty J. | 3:36 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
If you really think this is a "smear campaign" put on by Mister and his friends, you don't know Mister. At all.

He's an easy-going, laid-back nice guy. He's a great guy and its too bad he's no longer at The End. (but it's really The End's loss, not Mister's)
See a Pattern Anyone???? | 3:48 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Can anyone really be surprised by this after what happened to Casey?? I think many of you will agree that Casey was a HUMUNGUS loss to the morning show... and the same kind of gray explanation was given.... now Mister? Please don't tell me you all are that surprised!!! I don't know the truth of what happened but it sure seems interesting that Casey was last year and now Mister... I use to love the morning show but Chunga, Cort and Chelsea don't have the same stuff... Good thing I get to see Casey every morning on channel 2 as their morning person! I actually like him better than Ally and I didn't think that would ever happen!! Chunga is a funny DJ but it was better with Mister AND Casey... oh if wishes were fishes...
Confused | 4:25 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
The only thing I know is that when it was the Chunga and Mister show, it had that something special that made us all listen! There is no doubt that Chunga is funny and talented! But Mister was the balance and without him it isn't the same. Nothing against Cort or Chelsey, but they don't have the same interaction with Chunga that made the show so good! I want it the way it was before, I guess you can't go back sometimes! I guess I will put the blame on Management, because that's the only thing we know for sure that they had the final say and what a mistake that was!!!!! When something is great, why change?????
H3 | 4:28 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I know "Casey" Scott personally. What happened to Mister has shades of what happened to Casey. Casey was fired a couple of years ago. His contract did not get renewed because of Chunga. Sounds familiar?

Mister and Chunga obviously were friends at one point. I am sad to see that they have fallen on each other's bad side.

Chunga, in my opinion, projects this egomaniac with low self-esteem. What's sad about it is that he is talented and a very funny guy.

Mister, in my opinion, projects this very self-assured down to Earth guy. Although some will see him as a sidekick or in a supporting role, he's the one that makes everyone funnier.

You can't have a leading actor without any supporting roles. That is why Cort and Chelsea is there, albeit a far inferior talent than Mister. Chunga, no matter how good or funny he is, he can't do a morning show by himself.
IKnow | 4:34 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I loved the Mister and Chunga show. I don't think it will be long until Chunga is gone. He's getting too busy for the show doing his "B" rated movies.
re: re: Mutually Exclusive | 4:44 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
How are you libel for relaying what others have told you? Also, Utah is a right to work state and non-compete clauses cannot be enforced. Especially when no severance was paid. Bret is a tool and a hack actor at best. They are definetly not as funny as before. I am done with them.
well... | 4:52 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
No one besides Citadel really knows what happened and we are certainly not going to the recipients of any explanation so why not let it go?

I too agree that the show was better with Mister, but what is done is done. I think Chunga was making an attempt at taking the high road this morning and I think that it was evident in his explanation that whatever happened has hurt him to some degree. He is obviously upset by what happened. He also seemed upset when Mister left. I believe Chunga.

Mister was also hurt by the situation, but it doesn't appear that he tried the high road. Instead, he childishly retaliated via a newspaper article. I agree with Chunga that Mister needs to pick his battles and unfortunately chose not only a bad battle, but also chose an immature way of doing it.

So, the show has slipped a little, but life goes on. KENZ, keep Cort (he's not Mister, but he is definitely holding his own!) and chuck the whiny, ditz Chelsea. Also, don't hire Connie (boring!).

Just my opinion.
re:Randy | 5:01 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Hi. I'm Randy. As far as sources go? Uh, how about the fact that I was there.

Does that work for you?

If not I've got more "sources" than you can shake a yellow Porsche at.
Bret Smith | 5:08 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
I love myself, and you should too. (Love me, not yourselves)I have been in many critically acclaimed movies like Church Ball and RM. Although cameos, I challenged my acting skills to their brink. I do not need the morning show anymore and I will continue to tell you so everyday. Why would I want a scene stealing hack like Mister? I am far too important for him, or you, or this post.
The Insider | 5:33 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
Ok the radio staion was by all means going to renew Misters contract. They gave him a verbal commitment telling him they want to renew. Why not, they were a top 5 morning show. Now there is only 1 person that could change managements mind and that is Chunga (Brett Smith). Mister is a reporter, and all good reporters have their trusted source and Mister has a trusted source with the radio station and his source told him it was Brett Smith who told management (parker the weak) that it was either he or Mister to go. Of course management freaked out and fired Mister. They did that to Casey and they did that to others. Its a risky business to be in. Yes I did say Chunga wanted Mister gone. With the actor formerly known as Chunga being gone doing is B list movies he didnt want Mister to steal his show while he was gone. We all know Mister would have been King instead of Brett Smith so of course he had Mister fired. It all makes sense.
Fran | 5:40 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
After Chunga's display we were all privy to this morning I say Mister is better off, if he is like this to his listeners, the bill payers, imagine how he is off the air. Then look at Casey after having to put up with that every morning he is now kicking butt on mornings with 2 news. So, I think it is just time before Mister is given his reward for having to put up with the bashings of Chunga.
mmoge | 5:59 p.m. Feb. 25, 2008
What the heck happened this morning. I thought that Chunga and Mister were friends. Neither one seems to remember that.
Chunga is funny but I am sick and tired of his 'name dropping' He certainly is not and never will be a big star. Keep it in check Chunga your small parts in films just don't measure up to being a 'real movie star'. You need a reality check!!
As for Mister if he is twisting the truth to get sympathy then he deserves what he got. If he is telling the truth, look out Chelsea and Cort.
