Congress doing nothing about illegal immigration? What a surprise. Just another indication that the state legislature ought to step in and do what congress is unwilling to do: workplace verification, cancel "driver's privilege" cards for illegals, and etc.
If the Federal government wants to change the laws, adopt Mexico's. They deport more people each year than the US does, and it's a model of efficency.
Senatory Hatch did not support the McCain Amnesty Bill and I want to thank him for listening to our concerns. I think he does a great job at looking out for the citizens of Utah. And sometimes "Congress doing nothing" is better than inacting a bad law that will destroy America and its culture, i.e. allowing amnesty for 20 million illegals and 100 million family members who "lie" in wait to come here after amnesty is grant, in the name of "family reunification".
Someone on another thread referenced YouTube's "immigration gumballs," a startling revelation on immigration. Amazing!
Thank you wrz. That is an interesting video. Since 1970 immigration has doubled the US population. This shows that not only has the US let in more than enough immigrants, but we have let in enough to double our normal population growth for the past 38 years.
Again, as if we really needed it, we have confirmation that the Federal government is going to do nothing about the immigration problem. This is conclusive evidence that the states need to act on their own. Support Senator Hickmans SB81.
You just don't take families that the US has allowed to come to the US, and destroy those families!
You say they came illegally, on the other hand, the Government gave them Tax ID numbers. Is not this really, a form of acceptance? A form of legal immigration?
The Federal Government knew they came, the people filed papers, the government gave them a tax number, and the government has collected taxes, medicare and Social Security.
The people who filed for the Tax ID were not hiding, they were not trying to evade detection. In fact, they said, "I'm here".
They also followed the law and received Driver's Liscenses that were approved by our State and Federal Government!
They have joined our community. They have paid taxes. They have conformed, best they could. One day you welcomed them, the next you want them to disappear.
This IS NOT Christlike.
There are answers to this problem. But driving them out, and destroying families IS NOT one of the solutions!
IF you take away driving cards, your family will be AT MORE RISK for no insurance accidents. The people will stil be here.
Tax ID numbers are not legal immigration. Many coming here like those who worked for the two companies that were raided, used stolen social security numbers, they had no tax id numbers.
They destroyed their own families when the broke the law and stole other peoples identities. Don't put the blame on residents for the illegal actions of others.
Khanh Cong Dinh was ordered deported yesterday for violating immigration laws and lying on his visa. He was sent back to his home in Vietnam. For some reason we are not enforcing immigration laws against those south of our border, but we are when the people come from other parts of the world. Now that could be considered bigotry.
The United States needs to adopt Mexico's immigration laws, they are simple, and they work. Mexico evicts more illegals each year than the US does. Check it out on google or one of the search engines.
"Unbelievable" seems to buy into and perpetuate this bogus idea that illegal immigrants are all "families" or just honest workers, just trying to put food on the table. No doubt there are these, but also drug dealers, smugglers, drunk drivers, identity theives, gang members etc. Remember the drug crackdown at Pioneer Park. KSL and the D-News reported that 2/3 of the perpetrators were illegal immigrants. What about that big gang brawl in Utah County. Several of the assailants were referred to ICE. Anyone who would tell you that this is all about families trying to put food on the the table is either a simpleton or a liar. It's more complex than that. The bottom line is that business and special interests will thwart efforts to enforce the law and do so at the ordinary tax payer's expense.
If we don't want to split families then I think I got a great idea. I happen to know of a place where there are hundreds of illegal aliens working and the vast majority don't have their families here is the U.S. But its really strange that you never see Immigration officers doing raids. I'm really puzzled about that! This place is called Imperial Valley CA. I mean literally thousands of illegal aliens work in agriculture there.
We say we want them out and yet when it comes to the most obvious place where we can get them by the hundreds. We never go there? Why is that? somebody please explain to me!!!
Is it cuz in a way we need them in those places? Do we consider them a sort of second-hand human beings that we will accept them as long as they do our dirty work?
by "unbelievable"'s logic, all rapists, murders, drug pushers, and other criminals with families should be let off the hook, because incarcerating them would harm their families. The illegals do not have tax ID numbers, that why they steal identities to work. Ask any law enforcement officer how much crime would be reduced if we had no illegal aliens. Lest someone gets their shorts in a wad, I am not inferring that all illegal aliens break more laws than just coming here illegally, but many of them do.
To characterize illegal immigrants as simply hard-working families is simplistic if not deliberately misleading. Of course there are these upstanding individuals, but also drug dealers, gang members, smugglers, abusers, rapists, drunk drivers, thieves, etc. In any case, people who are here illegally can't be expected to act in the best interests of our community. They will always be primarily concerned with not calling attention to themselves or getting deported. Furthermore, they are often forced into breaking more and more laws such as identify theft, driving without a license or insurance, fraud, etc.
Immigration is undoubtedly a positive thing for this country overall. But we should think twice about allowing tens of thousands of illegal aliens into our state. Just go to KSL, the Trib or D-News and search for "illegal immigrant" or "gang" and you'll see why.
Why are Cubans given political asylum from communism but Vietnamese are not?Espescially when you look at the crime rate of the hispanic community compared to the crime rate of the asian community.............?I am white and you might say this statement is predjudiced. But if you break that word down it means to pre-judge,which I think the facts will speak for themselves.I know you dont have the guts to post this but,oh well.....
