Voters paid into these funds for elections and it should not be for any personal uses outside of elections. After every election any remaing funds should be returned to the state and placed back in the general funds. Why should voters donate funds for elections and then these same individuals take this money and use it for personal finances or spending? This is not the intent of tax donations from taxpayers. These donations should be removed from the taxing forms if they are going to be used for personal profiting and use. If these tax donations remaing on the tax forms then all these funds should be distributed equally among all candidates with equal shares to all without regard to political party or popularity. All campaign lefovers be permenantly returned to the state and accounted for. These funds should not be the property of the candidated for his/her own personal benefit. This would lock out these private donations from lobbyist and bribers that are being deposited in campaign funds. This is why legislators are fighting this bill, no place to hide bribes or commisions. This is how a poor legislator going in to office becomes a wealthy millionaire.

I admire Senator Greg Bell in his efforts to keep his fellow public servants honest and accountable. If anything, the bill he proposed was too lenient because there was no penalty for spending money on personal items. How sad that the committee, as public servants, are afraid of being accountable for the monies they spend - monies that were raised for the public servant to keep the promises made. Once their duty to keep promises is gone, what should happen to that money? I applaud Senator Bell's efforts! However, I am disappointed in the committee.

Those of you that haven't been elected to an office, I'm sure can't understand why it's a slap to the face to be told what to do with YOUR money.

Thats why this bill will never make it into a law. This is like millionaires telling millionaires what to do with their money.

Remember it's easy to legislate the non-elected with moral protections, but to think anyone can turn this around on the elected ought to think 3 or 4 times about such craziness.

Our moto is do as we say not as we do, and if you don't like it, run for office and become one of us.
