I want to know who | 7:53 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
I would like to know who wasatch has coming back other than the two studs that took state. is there some move in's nobody knows about or are there just some kids that nobody knows in the program that are going to be good.
WHS | 8:19 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
Tradition doesn't graduate. WHS will take their 7th straight next year. after all we will recruit a new team, right?

I would like to know | 9:09 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
I still have not got a forward reply of why wasatch is going to be good next year. They lost so much fire power this year, and from what i saw they don't have alot returning, am i missing something? I would like a real reply not just a fan that really loves their school, and is going to say they are good just for the sake of arguing. I really feel unitah and delta are the teams to beat next year.
Find it Funny | 9:17 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
That the most commented article on this website is an onslaught on the LDS church. Full of accusations and low blows. But we mention the R-word about a high school and the comments are quarantined??

*INTERESTING*
Come on guys | 9:41 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
Heber City is growing so fast! They are almost not 3A! People are moving in at a rapid rate. It is just coincidence that no good football, baseball, basketball, soccer...etc...etc players are moving in. Just really really good wrestlers. It is all becasue of innocent location. Heber is the next Las Vegas baby!!
Moderator | 9:44 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
All the other moderators have been letting it slide for a couple days. Are you grumpy? or even worse are you a Wasatch alumni? THE PLOT THICKENS!!! DA DA DUH DUN.
Anonymous | 9:50 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
I had the same thought. The moderator is a Wasatch alumn who doesn't want the truth to be known! I see much more offensive remarks still posted.
WHS | 11:23 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
Hey Delta and Unitah, its awesome that you have finally put together some teams to compete with wastach after a decade congrats. Too bad you'll still lose next year. And quit complaining about move ins. Just because you live in places that nobody would like to move to doesn't mean we get an advantage. oh and I haven't seen you two do anything great in any other sport either. Just keep on crying for another year.

Wasatch Wrestlers-
Great job at state this year! we werent worried at all we knew you would pull through and get a state championship for the 6th year in a row! We love cheering for you and we think your all DEAD SEXY!!!! We love you! :)
Love the wasatch cheerleaders
I would like to know? | 11:01 a.m. Feb. 19, 2008
What do you want to hear? Anyone can go look at the brackets and see Wasatch has eight state placers returning. They may not be as good as they were this year, but they'll still be solid.
Future | 12:52 p.m. Feb. 19, 2008
Interisting comments about what could happen next year. Delta looks to have the strongest team in years. They have 13 placers coming back and only loose 3 of this years team, 9 will be seniors, 4 Jrs, 1 soph. Uintah has 9 returing, 3 seniors, 4 jrs 2. Wasatch has 8 returning 5 Srs, 2 Jrs, 1 Soph. State is all about depth (JV and Varsity). This does not include all the other wrestlers Delta and Uintah took to state that didn't place.

An interesting note is that who has the strongest program is the one that did well in Jr High. In 06 it was Delta first 154, Uintah 2nd 103 and wasatch 3rd at 59, 07 Delta first 179, Uintah 101 and Wasatch 62. The trend is that Delta will have the strongest program next year unless Wasatch gets new kids added to their program.
interesting | 1:56 p.m. Feb. 19, 2008
Isn't it interesting that Future didn't mention the 2008 Junior High tournament. Delta 178, Wasatch 168, Uintah 129. Also Wasatch has more than eight state qualifiers returning. Wasatch had 22 qualify for state, six seniors-sixteen returning next year.
Anonymous | 2:21 p.m. Feb. 19, 2008
Delta the strongest team in years next year? Their strength is in numbers which translates well at the 3A state tourney. But against teams that have college talent like Uintah and Wasatch have had since the early 90's, I don't think Delta would fare so well against teams like those in anything but the state tournament(which is very weak).

Get ranked in the nation before you declare yourself the best team in years.

Future | 2:24 p.m. Feb. 19, 2008
Yes you are correct but the 08 kids won't be a factor for a few years. The only reason that I listed the 06 and 07 and even 05 is because thats the kids that have and will impact high school this and nex year. The 08 kids will be about 2 to 3 years befor we start seeing results.

My comments were about kids that placed at state and are returning next year. Again the numbers are 13 Delta, 9 Uintah and 8 wasatch.
Future | 2:41 p.m. Feb. 19, 2008
I am not a Delta fan but enjoy wrestling. What I meant was it is the best team they have had in years. Just think about it, they placed 16 this year at state. I don't know if that's a record but it has to be close. State is all about depth. I live outside the state of Utah and my state lets schools bring just one kid per weigh class not two like Utah. The most you could place in my state is 14. So a team like Delta may not fair well in a national tournament because they can't bring JV. Like you say they dont have a high national ranking. They only had 3 state champs this year compared to 7 of Wasatch. I know that Uintah does go back to the Ironman tournament and does ok but in Utah its about who has the best JV and Varsity wrestlers. Delta has a lot of depth.
DHS FAN | 7:28 p.m. Feb. 19, 2008
Delta has made a major come back. Delta finshed fourth last year at state. This year they almost took first.
But, we don't recruit. Recruiting is cheating If Wasatch didn't have Cole Shafer and Blake Mangum Delta could have taken the state title.

What a bunch of cry babies you Delta people are!
Viewmont defends Wasatch | 7:18 a.m. Feb. 20, 2008
Congrats to Wasatch. People throw garbage at us all the time as well. People get jealous when you win all the time. We always look forward to wrestling Wasatch because they are the best. We actually won this year and are excited to see them next year. I don't know any of the stuff people say about the team, but the kids are all good kids and have a lot of class. They have fans who actually know the sport like we do here. There is nothing cooler than going in to the Wasatch and wrestling under the statue of Cael with his dad as their coach. It is awesome! Wasatch, just ignore the naysayers. Good job! And we'll see you in December. The best vs. the best. Maybe these others can come by and watch and maybe even learn something.
Viemont? | 11:27 a.m. Feb. 20, 2008
Long Long before Viewmont knew what wrestling was. Wasatch, Delta, and Uintah have been battling it out. 3 great traditions and ALL the kids are good kids. The fact is it gets heated but at the end of the day I think there is mutual respect from all 3 schools. 3A wrestling has got to be one of the sports classifications in the nation. I love it! I just hope that not one of the BIG 3 lose their traditon. I hope this battle continues as long as wrestling does. To these 3 good job! and keep the sport alive.
Sportsmans Conduct..WHS..Worst | 4:29 p.m. Feb. 20, 2008
I am a neutral reader. I have been to many sporting events in my years and seen many games and matches. I have to say that Delta High School is truely one of the classiest schools I have ever been around. The way things are sounding now is that Wasatch is the one making excuses and for what?? You guys won.. Your making yourselves look foolish and ignorant. Noone wants to see people like that win, Come on..lets have a little class Wasatch, get over yourselves, as for Delta, Congrats on a great fight, espically for having the smallest student body in 3A, and i think that is no excuse for being smaller..they are great with what they have..they cant pick their team. Keep them moving in Wasatch..maybe you can get a little nudge in to 4A.
ya right | 5:04 a.m. Feb. 21, 2008
it sounds more like you have a kid on Deltas team than you are a neutral reader.
3A wrestling | 9:41 a.m. Feb. 21, 2008
I love these 3A guys who think they have the toughest classification - keep living the dream. Did you bother to go to the 3A state tourney and see how weak the competition is outside of a few schools.
Don't even go there | 10:42 a.m. Feb. 21, 2008
Wasatch, Delta, Uintah would have been 1-2-3 in all classifications. The tradition in 3A runs deep! Wasatch and Delta have been the #1 team in the nation at least one year since their programs began. Uintah, Wasatch, and Delta used to all be top 50 in the nation teams consistently. Look at their state titles!!

These schools REALLY care about wrestling. Have you been to see one of these two duel? The stands are packed. If you go to 5A or 4A duel you have their parents and girlfriends...and thats it! Most 5A high school kids either don't know they have a wrestling team or think they are gender confused. In 3A if you wrestle it MEANS something.
UHSAA Favoritism | 4:50 p.m. Feb. 21, 2008
If I recall, the reason they had to combine states was because 4a/5a couldn't afford to fund their own tournaments. No fans.

Now 2A/3A fans finance the tournament and the UHSAA gives the good evening times to 4a/5a and 1A/2A/3A fans have to take off work to go support the tournament(financially and personally). What is up with that?

P.S. I heard Skyler Porter is moving back to Delat now that wrestling season is over. Any truth to that?

RE: Sportsman | 4:59 p.m. Feb. 21, 2008
Were you at the state tournament? I would have to say that some of the Delta fans were classy, but the ones who were flipping off the Wasatch fans ruined the reputation for the Delta fans for me. As a neutral fan from 2A, I would have to disagree with you on saying that Wasatch has the worst sportsmanship. There are always those from schools that ruin the reputation for the rest of the school. There are classy people from both schools, but as a fan from a school that cares about wrestling very much I have to say that sometimes you act like you never would normally. I have lived in Delta and Heber and there are great people in both places. But I feel for Wasatch, when people make the accusations that your program is only good because of move-ins then I can see why this is making them upset.
Wasatch beating Delta | 5:53 a.m. Feb. 22, 2008
Tough couple weeks for Delta---first they barely lose out on a state championship to Wasatch in wrestling then their 20-2 2nd ranked basketball team just flat out gets beat by a better Wasatch basketball team---no wonder those folks are a bit frustrated at Wasatch. Not nearly as many state championship banners to hang on the ceiling down there in Delta is there?
1-2-3 in any class? | 9:38 a.m. Feb. 22, 2008
Yes, Wasatch, Delta, and Uintah have great programs and great fan support. But whichever one of those schools you attend clearly needs to focus more on their educational system. Try looking at recent tournament results if you really believe your own rambling.
1-2-3 in any class!! | 1:39 p.m. Feb. 23, 2008
Maybe 3A has crappy education but we know wrestling. Obviously you need to work on critical thinking. The tourney results are completely irrelevant. You are not factoring in J.V., In 3A it is not uncommon to have a varsity and J.V wrestle for the championship in a weight class. All 3 of these schools have 4 or 5 kids at each weight, alot of 5A schools have to forfeit weights with 0 wrestlers. Pull out your facts one more time and look at these team's depth. Give us some info. we can use!
Sportsmanship, etc | 10:54 a.m. Feb. 28, 2008
Let me see... "moderator, are you grumpy or even worse, a Wasatch alumni," "you wouldn't have won if...," "whichever one of those schools you attend clearly needs to focus more on their education system" and somebody has the audacity to bad mouth Wasatch fans for defending themselves against speculative accusations? Unbelievable! Amazing what the result of rationalization of one's own actions can produce! By the way, my daughter, a senior at Wasatch High School, scored a 31 on her ACT and has a full tuition sholarship to college!
wasatch fan | 1:53 p.m. April 5, 2008
honestly. they won fair and square leave it alone. they deserve it. maybe if schools want to win. they should work harder. go wasatch!
