cross your fingers everybody, We want D Will in.
Jazz fan | 12:59 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Wake up people. The best point gaurd in the NBA not invited to the All Star game is not Deron Williams. Deron Williams is a real good point gaurd, but he is not in the same league as Baron Davis. Davis when on his game is the best point gaurd in the league and he has been on his game enough this year to deserve all star status over Williams.

Any way who cares about the all star game. We want a championship and Williams plays better when he's playing snubbed.

Open the hands towards to the God and wish Deron to be in there. GO DERON

As much as I want williams in I think T-mac has a better chance.
Stern | 7:16 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Come on Stern pick D Will!!! Go Jazz!
Jimmy's Sneakers | 7:19 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Jimmy agrees with Jazz fan in that if the league replaces Kobe it will be with Boom Dizzle not DWill. Stern loves to pick people to be more inclusive of all teams and since the 'Dubs don't have a representative at the game yet it will be the determining factor in adding him over DWill. The only thing that might change that is if Kobe waits to long to decide and the league picks DWill because he is already in town and Baron isn't. Frankly, Jimmy thinks they are both more deserving that David West, who is the person really stealing the spot.

The bigger news here is that Kobe will either play the rest of the year injured OR get surgery and miss about 6 weeks. That is huge in the ever tight west! If Kobe missed 6 weeks, and with Bynum out most of the regular season, the Lakers could quite possibly miss the playoffs. Jimmy doesn't like how the Jazz match up with the Lakers this year and hopes we don't have to see them in the playoffs.

I hope DWill gets in it would be great for him and the JAZZ.

RE: Jimmy S., Jazz Fan | 8:59 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
@ Jimmy...I usually agree with everything you say, but I do disagree with your idea of how Stern picks his all-stars "to be more inclusive of all teams"...well, Rasheed Wallace and Ray Allen are his picks in the East and I think the Pistons and Celts are already well represented.

@ Jazz Fan, I agree that Baron Davis is an awesome basketball player, but he is out of control. In my very-biased opinion, I think D-Will is a better PG because he is under control, he runs an efficient offense, better passer, better dribbler, and better mind for the game. Baron certainly is exciting and keeps things moving, but he can't set up a half-court offense. I'll take D-Will over Davis.
Pahrump | 9:01 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Getting DWill in now is just a slap in the face. He should have been on the roster before now.
Anonymous | 9:18 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Who are the idiots who say that Baron Davis and T-Mac will go ahead of Williams? Did anyone watch the playoff last year? or see how Deron has dominated every point gaurd (including several thrashings of Baron)? Or did you not read T-Mac say that he doesn't believe he deserves to be there because of injuries and all? Come on people. Get it together.
On another note, it would be interesting to see if Deron can crank up the intenstity similar to when he was snubbed last year (when he probably deserved it more). Be nice to know, because he's going to get in sooner or later. Iverson and Nash are both on their way out, so that leaves a much thinner field for him to compete against. Heck, without those two this year, he's not even a questionable, he's a definite.
And in response to Jimmy S...you're right, the bigger story is if Koby can play at the same level as before with a torn pinky in his shooting hand. If it was his off hand, I'd say he's fine, but it's not, so...could get interesting (as if it wasn't already!)
Utah Jazz | 9:33 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Sorry but Baron Davis is not the best point guard in the league! Deron Williams is statistically the second best in the league right now, he should have been on the all-star roster from day one! Bottom Line.
Jazz Pizzazz | 10:06 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Deron Williams lost his chance to be an all-star when the Jazz went 5-11 in December and lost 3 out of 4 to Portland. If the Jazz had been going 18-3 during the period the decisions were really being made, things might have turned out differently.

If you allow the fans in Denver or elsewhere to stuff the ballot box, then the all-star game will always be skewed--a reflection of popularity rather than performance.
what???? | 10:16 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
sneekers, hooo is boom dizle ??? thanks
Baron Davis and T-mac really | 10:13 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Who was that baby throwing elbows at Fisher in defeat last year as he team was beaten down by the Jazz. Who watched Williams dominate every game and lead his team with great shooting and timely assists? Baron Davis is a has been who has one good game in ten. He whines every play he is on the court and doesn't have half the talent of Williams. If you ever watched basketball you would see that. Every gm in the NBA would take williams in a second over Davis.

To the T-mac lover are you kidding me. Yao leads that team and T-mac tries to lose every game with his sixty shots per game that he jacks up. There is a reason T-mac has never made it past the first round in the playoffs.
special k | 10:23 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
deron killed chris paul when they played a while ago deron deserves it.
Jazzsmack | 10:24 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Wake up Jazz fans. The best point guard not to make the all star game is Stephon Marbury. Put him one on one with any point guard in the league and he would win. I no he isn't in the west but he is the best pg. Marbury has mad skillz.
trouser trout | 10:26 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
rumor out here in D-town Thugnuggs have offered Najera and #1 pick for ....you quessed it another thug ron "thug" artest
Utah Jazz | 10:42 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Wow, that takes lots of courage backing up Stephon Marbury. He led the league in turn overs before he was sidelined for being a baby! Williams might not score as much as others, maybe not as many assists as Nash, fewer steals than other guys. He is the most consistent guard in the entire NBA, he's fundamental and smart. He may not be fortunate enought to get to the all-star game this year but he is an all-star. Anybody who knows basketball will know that.
Cory | 10:48 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
You're right Jazz Fan, Deron is not in the same league as Baron, and thank goodness for that. The NBA already has enough flopping, crying, whining, dirty, out-of-control playing punks. Thank you for pointing out that Deron is definately not in that league....
what ever | 11:09 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Jazzsmack- Marbury maybe the best one on one guard in the NBA but this is a team game. and their is a reason that he is a problem with every team he goes to...he is to selfish. If this was the "and 1" league he would play well
MADRYBEG | 11:20 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
I agree with the comments where Baron Davis has a great game one out of every ten. He is capable of GREAT games night in/out. But, therein lies the reason he is not an all-star. He doesn't "bring it" each night. DWill on the other hand does. His consistency, even during the losing month of December, is remarkable. He is a special player and COULD average the same point total as one such as Chris Paul or Baron Davis if needed. But it is not. He could average an assist or two more if players did not miss wide open shots underneath or take terrible jumper when they should have gone to the hole. DWill for replacment...no question.
Steve W | 11:22 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
1) Its a well-stated fact that Williams OWNED Chris Paul head-to-head.
2) T-Mac? Helllooo! He's injured. Not an option. Not to mention that his team seems to be playing better without him.
3) Baron Davis has some nice numbers - when he is on the court. He gets injured WAY too often and is too "me first" to be considered a real point guard.

D-Will deserves to be an All-Star. He just has the bad fortune of being in the West where 3 of the top 4 PGs in the league are playing. If it weren't for the Jazz' December slump it would be Deron, not Chris Paul on the roster.
Tony | 11:32 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
How could you guys be so set on Baron Davis? He is an outstanding player, but who won the playoff series between Williams and Davis? Who has more wins for their respective team this season? The league rewards for winning. If Kobe is out, Deron better get the nod. He deserves it.
DShizzle | 11:30 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Boom Dizzle is none other than Baron Davis
Word to Jazzsmack | 11:40 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Basketball is a team sport. That is why Marbury will never be in all star in the future. That is also why you will see D-Will for years to come!!
Anonymous | 11:49 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Marbury is in the east... How would he be selected to replace Kobe? Even if he was in the West, his ankle surgery is causing him to miss the rest of the season.
Fast Eddie | 11:52 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
I do not think the All Star is that big a deal. However, I guess I'd rather see Davis than Williams though I agree that Williams is a better player. The All-Star Game isn't much different from watching the Harlem Globe Trotters... it is just a big show. Unfortunately, Williams would get lost among all the all-star showboat not because he doesn't have the skills, but because he is not a hot dog. Davis is flashy so let him have the spotlight and let Williams do the things he needs to move the Jazz over the top for the rest of the year.

AS USUAL, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH SNEAKERS!!!!!

SECONDLY, SOMEONE NEEDS TO QUIT POSTING USING JAZZSMACKS NAME BECAUSE THAT MARBURY STUFF IS JUST TOO BIZARRE....

IF THAT WAS POSTED BY JAZZSMACK, ALL I CAN SAY WOW, I'VE LOST FAITH BECAUSE YOUR PAST POSTS WERE USUALLY WELL THOUGHT OUT AND SOMEWHAT LUCID.....

STEPHON MARBURY--------"PLEASE"
Moto X | 12:07 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Based on stats posted above I would have to say "Jazz fan" is delirious. D-Will "not in the same league"? D-Will is a WAAAAAAY better shooter and a better assist man than Baron and that is what a PG is supposed to do. He is better than Baron Davis in both categories by a substantial margin. I am not sure how you come up with a ridiculous statement like "he is not even in the same league"!

It would be nice for D-Will to get the recognition but then again he plays pretty well when he doesn't. There is also the risk of getting injured in that circus sideshow they call the "all star" game. Seems like a back door to getting in anyway.
I sure won't be crying if he does not go.

Since it is in New Orleans it will nothing but Chris Paul love-fest anyways. CP3 will be getting all the playing time so he gets all the accolades in front of his home crowd. I would not be surprised if the NBA kept D-Will out for that very reason. They annointed CP3 the king on draft day and have been promoting it ever since.
Baron Licks | 12:31 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Baron Davis's so called dunk on AK last year was an OFFENSIVE FOUL.

Davis totally straight armed him. Again it is all about roles. Davis is the go to scorer-he takes more shots. If D-will took as many shots he would score 5 ppg more.

ALSO JUST LIKE THE CP3 ARGUMENT, I'LL TAKE D-WILL HEAD TO HEAD OVER BOTH ANY DAY
GO D-WILL/JAZZZZZZZZZ

Baron Davis? You have got to be kidding me!! If there was an All-Star team for cry babies he would be the starter. And I am not even going to waste my time with the comment on Tracy "I can't win a playoff series" McGrady.
NBA FAN | 2:12 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
The NBA should force Bryant to play in this game. It is my hope that he argivates his injury even more. And later I'd like to see Shaq rip his arms off and beat him over the head with them.

STEVE-O | 2:38 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
The All-Star game means nothing! It's a popularity contest and nothing more. Fan voting shouldn't be how the teams are decided. The NBA should adopt a program where fan voting, coaches votes, and media votes all count for a percentage. With fan voting worth the least amount!! However, I'm fine with the All-Star game the way it is. The other NBA teams will have Hell to pay because Williams will be extremely motivated!
STEVE-O | 2:53 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
This is how I see the Western Conference playing out!!

Suns
vs. Suns
Rockets ______

Mavs Suns
vs. Mavs ________
Nuggets ______

Spurs
vs. Lakers Jazz Pistons
Lakers ______ _______ _________

Jazz Jazz
vs. Jazz ________
Hornets ______

You'll notice that Golden State and Portland just aren't going to make it! Too many good teams and not enough room for teams that do nothing but fire up long distance shots the whole season. The Lakers are tough... but I think injuries will catch up to them. The Hornets are good right now, but they lack the playoff experience. Plus they will be crushed if they play Utah in ANY round of the playoffs. The Jazz ALWAYS own them!
Love the Jazz | 3:01 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
D Will is much better then Baron Davis. Davis is a big baby and drives me absolutley crazy to watch him.
Re: Jazz Fan | 3:32 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
I actually agree with "Jazz Fan". Deron Williams isn't in the same league as Baron Davis. He's in a much, much higher one.
bubba | 3:43 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
I hate Baron Davis' game. He drives me nuts.
He is only good becuase the refs let him hook, throw his arms into people, step into people while driving.
Then they call a foul on his oponent. I guess you keep doing it if the refs reward you but I hate watching it.
Boomer | 4:02 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
That Marbury post is absolutely silly.... he is a horrible team player....
Rich | 4:06 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Marbury better than D Will? Marbury is one of those overrated players who makes everybody around him worse. At least Baron Davis plays team ball though he's not a guy I would pick over D Will for anything. D Will is deserving of an All Star pick, but if he doesn't get to play, it will be another chip on his shoulder that will cause him to play even harder and more intensely. We were so lucky to be able to move up in the draft and get him. Don't ever forget the real reason the Jazz have succeeded for so many years -- an owner who lets his coach have power over his players, and a coach who demands perfection and often gets close to it from his players. Sloan would have a winning percentage with almost any team unless he were forced to start such prima donnas as Sprewell, Marbury or Francis.
bigjazzfan | 4:34 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
So your still out there impersonating jimmy and jazzsmack.

It would very laughable (meaning I would laugh at you not with you) if it weren't so pathethic.
ron | 5:00 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
williams diserves to go more then any other guard including Mr. cant get out of the first round t mac. and how on earth can you say that baron is better then william. seroiusly try and say that with a straight face!
Anonymous | 8:00 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
if Marbury is so good why is his team one of the worst in the nba?
Baron Davis | 8:00 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
What I meant was me better than D-Will? D-Will is a much better player than I am. I was just joking.
Jimmy's Sneakers and Jazz fan still know nothing about basketball and I opened my mouth to soon.
All-Stiflers | 10:41 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Marbury!!?? Sprewell's doppelganger!!?? He chokes the life out of a team; not with his bare hands but with his suffocating ego.

Yeah, Marbury and Penny Hardaway, with Steve Francis coming off the bench. Now there's your All-Teamwrecker backcourt.
Weezil Dizzle | 10:49 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Isiah Thomas and Baron Davis: At All-Star weekend, voted "most sincere smiles" in NBA.

#1, Pack your lunch. #2, D-Will eats your lunch.
Fraktured Logik | 11:06 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
You can't spell selfish without an I. And there is no I in team. If the Knicks can't trade him and his $20mil salary, soon there will be no Stephon Marbury in the NBA.

And the Knicks will still stink.
Oz | 7:22 a.m. Feb. 16, 2008
What would be worse is if Kobe does start & play 5 mins then sit out the rest of the game....

Plus I wish someone had the guts to bring Defence back to the All-star events. That rookie/sophmore game was unbearable except for seeing Brewer & Millsap play.

Do they really want to be the NBAnd1?
Jazz cry babies | 12:07 p.m. Feb. 16, 2008
Typical of Jazz fans to cry foul on athletic plays. Step into reality. Baron Davis is a premier guard in this league. Deron Williams may be in his league, but just because BD is flashy, streaky, and oh, by the way has better stats than Williams (points, boards, steals, game-changing performances), doesn't mean that you should hate on him. You are all proving the national bias against the Warriors. Davis is clearly more deserving that Williams for the All-Star game and fact that the 32-20 Warriors didn't get a player on the team is a joke. How about clearly the most locally supported franchise in the NBA today? I don't think it's even close. I hope the Warriors and Jazz meet again in the playoffs. That would be fun.
