The all-star game used to be an entertainment spectacle to behold. Now, it is a bad imitation of Street Ball, tatoo's, spoiled behavior, reverse discrimination-yes you heard right, and over-all gang bang mentality! I do not watch this prostituted display of what is supposed to be Basketball!

All-Star Game? JUST SAY NO!

Oh, by the by, I have a 1993-94 un-opened ALL-Star Upper DECK Card pack, the year it was in UTAH at the Ole Delta Center! For Sale!

It's no success until we finally win it all. The Jazz have the talent, but do they have the ability. I hope so!
Re. Troutman | 7:03 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
I agree with you 110%, you nailed it. What a joke that whole fiasco is. This proves what most people really are---Media sheep.

Have to differ with you, bud. No success unless there is a title? You must be the most frustrated person on the earth...get in line with fans in Minnesota, Denver, Dallas, etc. Over the past 20 years, only a handful of teams have won it all. Lots of repeats (Chicago, LA, Detroit, Boston, Houston, San Antonio). Need I say more?

I hope this article spawns more anti-Sloan commentary. "The Jazz have lost 3 games in their last 21. Sloan has to go!" "You Sloan-lover's don't have any evidence that he's a good coach!" I love it! "He had 1 losing season in the last 20, let's run him out of town!"
Maybe the Jazz could get Isaiah Thomas to come coach. He's a player's coach and look at how good the Knicks have been since they put him in charge.
ZEKE | 7:54 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
Can anyone remember what the JAZZ record was last year at this time ?
Re: Brett Barney | 9:18 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
I disagree on getting rid of sloan. First of all you need to get your facts right. His coaching achievements speak for themselves, with the fourth most wins all-time (1035-689), seventh best winning percentage (.600) in NBA history. He is first on the all-time list for consecutive games coached with one franchise (1,509), and also owns the record for most wins with one team (941). Earning his 11th 50-win season with a 51-31 record in 2006-07. Sloan ROCKS!!!!!
Isaiah Thomas not a good coach at all. He hasn't done anything to the knicks franchise since he has been in charge. Just let you know the Knicks are 15-37 this year dead last in their division and 2nd to last in the Eastern Conference. I think they need to get a new coach.

The All-Star game is a joke. The whole thing is one big popularity contest. We are going to see Yao Ming in that game until he retires because everyone in China is going to vote for him. None of the current Jazz players received enough votes to even be there. Boozer was voted in by the coaches. Williams might play for an injured Kobe. It would be better off for the Jazz players to skip the Weekend in NO. Remember how bad Memo played after he made his all star appearance? Hopefully the same thing doesnt happen with Boozer, Williams, Brewer and Milsap. Hopefully no one gets injured playing in pointless games.

I would prefer it if the Jazz stayed out of the fiasco and practice so they can be ready for the rest of the season and position themselves for the playoffs. I think this Jazz team can win it all this year. Everything in the West could change at any moment with ho tight the standings are. They might even be able to obtain the #1 seed in the west if we win some key games.

Go Jazz!

As a Jazz fan you have to hope that Isaiah isn't replaced. I hope they give him another contract extension and continue to allow him to run the team into the toilet until we get their first round pick in a couple years. I don't know about you but I hope they are 2-80 in 09'-10'.
Anthony | 10:30 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008
to Bodhi,

I'm from Hong Kong China, but I voted for Jazz players. While Yao may not be the best player in the league, he must be good enough to receive vote. Think about the like of ZZ Wang, Yi...they were not even on list. So please give China a break.

The All Star Game really is a different game than it was in old days. But it is a fun event for the players. As long as players have fun, most fans have fun, let there be All Star Game.

After all, there will be 4 Jazz players in the game. When was the last time we have that many???

Go Jazz!!!

RE: Brett Barney

I think you might have missed my sarcasm there buddy. I was teasing all the sloan-haters. I was using Isaiah as an example of the "Players" coaches that the sloan-haters want to see here.

Great stats, just a little gullible.

AGREEED!!!!

Yes lets Get Isiah here and fast with assistant coaches Karl-nuggets/Nellie-Warriors. Then we need to speed up our tempo and get some flashy players that talk trash and would rather get an alley-oop jam than a win. Anyone threating the paint will be sent to the floor. And any sort of ticky-tack foul they didnt draw must be met with consistent whinning. Before each game the players will jam out like Rasheed and the Pistons. There will be open media arguments between players and the coaching staff. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!

Re: Jimmy's boyfriend & Brett Barney.....Wow great stat's for Jerry...which mean nothing...How many championships does Jerry have as a player or a coach? (I just K.O'd you guys right there with one punch.) Isn't it great that the PAT's just finished the first 16 game regular season undefeated....but in the end it meant nothing!! Just like Jerry's stat's....just like being what 17-3 over the last 20 games means....which it means nothing at this point.....let's see how Jerry does in the post season with his adjustments and see if he can win a championship with this team? before we start acting like he is the greatest coach around. Case in point-look at Portland they won 13 straight and they aren't looking like they are going to make the playoffs. The Jazz aren't even assured of making the playoffs either at this point!! your points don't mean anything! Sloan still has everything to prove at this point!! only winning a championship will shut up the critic's for once and all. Otherwise we will still be here. I for one will say I was wrong but right now I am right and 20 years of coaching hasn't changed my opinion. It's nice tobegoodnotgreat.

Jimmy says that the west is where all the focus is as well there should be. Jimmy warns however, do not count out the Celtics, Pistons, Cavs and yes Jimmy says the Bulls. Jimmy says these teams are no push over either.

"The most important thing" SlowN added "is they stayed together as a group of guys in that stretch, and then they've gotten back to playing and winning some games"

"SOME GAMES"? 18-3 as of December ! Again the very negativity of the FACT !

3 losses = SOME ! 18 wins = a BUNCH , SlowN

Why was'nt it , A very nice string of wins for these guys , hope WE can keep on going in this direction .

All I can Say is: I am not a SLOAN FAN:
SLOAN has never won the championship coaching. Big
deal he has good regular season coaching record.
He has not won a championship here in Utah. Malone and Stockton carried this team for over a decade. Now
Boozer, Williams are the carrying the team. I do not
like Jerrys foul mouth and I do not like it with
his berating of players during game time. Do that off
the court Sloan. Mark My words the Jazz will never
win a championship under the coaching of Jerry Sloan.

Re: Sloan Lover

So Phil Jackson must be the greatest coach in the NBA based on your argument? Of course it doesn't hurt that he will only coach if he has super-stars on his team. Maybe Pat Riley then? Of course he stepped in after a different coach developed the Heat and he won the championship.
Your problem is that you only have 1 criteria for judging whether or not someone is a great coach/player. Do you also think that Robert Horry is better than Stockton and Malone? Do you think Eli Manning is better than Dan Marino? You have to judge a few different things besides # of Championships when making that call.
Another thing to remember is that it's not all on the coach. There's also the GM who brings players in and out. The owner (in the Jazz's case has been a detriment to his team).
Sloan consistently gets more out of his players than other coaches do. Look what happens to players after they leave the Jazz:
Byron Russell
Arroyo
Malone (I know he was old)
Even Raja Bell hasn't gotten much better than his break-out season.
Sloan aint perfect, but definitely not worth firing!

first of all,You assumed the rest of your arguments about other coaches based upon my critic of Sloan. I didn't establish a coaching criteria?in my previous assessment of Sloan, you did, but now that you've opened the door. Is DanM better than say JoeMontana? would have been a better argument. Is DanM without a title better than TerryBradshaw? TomBrady? of course I don't think that RobertHorry is better than Malone but if you compared Malone to say someone of more equal star status...KevinMchale? MagicJohnson? championships have to be the number one factor when considering the ultimate greatness not goodness or second place. You're going to lose this argument when it comes to Sloan...Pippen/Jordan + PhilJackson= title, shaq/Kobe+ phil=title, The dream/Drexler+ rudy= title, Duncan/Robinson+pop=title, Duncan,manu/parker+pop=title, Shaq/wade+riley=title, I could go on and on...Malone/Stock/Horny+Sloan=no title, malone/stock/eaton/bailey/griff+Sloan=no title, Malone/jmalone/chambers/stock+sloan=no title. Sloan will forever be remembered, unless he wins a title, one step below the above coaches/players with the likes of stockton/malone/barkley/marino. Another stupid thing you said is Jerry gets more out players than anyone else is moronic based upon some crappy players that no one else wanted. Raja was a better player here? Horny/chambers(allstars)pre sloan?.better here?...down goes Jimmy's boyfriend again!!

The team that emerges from the West will be battle tested - or battle worn. The team from the East may benefit from not having a serious challenge until the East finals. The team that wins the West just may be the team that stays healthy.
ron | 4:48 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
phil jackson can coach... WHEN HE HAS A GOOD TEAM! other then that he is just ok. the best coach in the nba is greg popivich. Manu G. the very last pick in the nba draft. Now one of the best players on that team

Re: Sloan lover
Wow, you have to be the smartest guy you know! I guess you can slant anything you want. What about the stat that has the Jazz being one of the youngest teams in the league (inexperienced). Or maybe the stat about having the most 2nd round draft picks on their team. The Jazz have over-achieved consistently year in and year out. Every year the actual nba analysts (unlike you or me) predict the Jazz to be a mediocre team because they have had mediocre players since Stock/Malone. And every year they over-achieve.
I'm not trying to say Sloan is the best coach in the NBA. I've got a lot of issues with his style and decision making. But he's definitely a coach you keep around as long as you can. If you get rid of Sloan, who are you going to replace him with? You have to find someone who is willing to live in Utah (based on history, that's harder than Utahns imagine it to be). You also have to have someone who can put up with LHM which is another huge obstacle. BTW Chambers and Horny were old men when they came this way.
