POUR CHOICE OF WORDS --- BUT IT WAS NOT RACIST
Anonymous | 12:20 p.m. Feb. 15, 2008
This is all so dumb -
How did the skinheads and KKK find their way unto this blog?
Kluc, Kluc, kluc | 11:27 a.m. Feb. 16, 2008
if it sounds like a Kluc , walks like a Kluc...it must be a Kluc! only in Utah ..it will take em another hundred years to figure it out as they are masters of deflection with very little reflection!

Hey, I am a ugly mormon baby, and the reason I am ugly is becuase I am a mormon. Think about Utah, please think about how it feels to be on the other side.

Those who know Senator Buttars, including the two senators quoted in this article, know that he is not a racist.

All freedom of speech must be tolerated.

Or there is no freedom for anyone.

People must be free to think what they want, to feel what the want, and have the freedom of conscience to exprees those feeling and thoughts.

Or there is no freedom for anyone.

There no right to not be offended. You only have the right to disagee and express it.

Use it or lose it.

Anyone with COMMON SENSE can tell that no racial slight was intended.

Nor is there any "imaginary" record racial conduct.

So liberals don't get your panties in bunch over this.

And even if there was, so what? That is the price of freedom.

Or would you rather no one have freedom to express themselves?

He should offer to resign just as soon as those like Byrd and other Democratic senators who have made numerous racist remarks submit their resignations.

The NAACP needs to take their sorry hypocritical selfs and shut up. Time and time again they label those as racist who don't share their views but they give a free pass to those who make racist remarks but have the same views as the NAACP.

Boy this subject has really brought out the liberal biast against anything that is said by a conservative that uses a pour choice of words. It is as clear as black and white, which is what Chris Buttars meant when he made his comment.
he was obiviously | 9:31 p.m. Feb. 17, 2008
trying to buttar up his constituents up there on the hill...imagine what he says off the record..or maybe they all feel and say the same way as he felt he was in his comfort zone!
Disappointed | 12:45 a.m. Feb. 18, 2008
I too am disappointed in Buttars' remarks, but I am more disappointed in the lack of backbone from the governor.

Huntsman had a golden opportunity to stand tall and let the rest of the county know that the people of Utah do not share Buttars' racist beliefs. I expected more from Huntsman - always showing off his adopted children and all...

A sad, sad commentary about Utah's racist past ...
and present.

Liberals have proved again that there no level low enough that they won't go to to destroy a conservative voice that is making a difference.
Move on, people | 4:39 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
Really, don't you all have jobs? I agree that Buttars has done some strange things in office and I don't support a lot of his bills, but let West Jordan decide. They vote this year, so everyone just calm down. If they want to keep him, they can.
John | 10:17 p.m. Feb. 18, 2008
The "anti-racism" lynch mob is chasing after Buttars without bothering to LISTEN to his words (available on the legislature website). Instead they are being misled by a few agenda-driven rabble rousers, or have heard snippets taken out of context as reported by the news media.

Buttars is not the most articulate speaker, and while his choice of words may not have been the best, there was CLEARLY no racism involved.
To claim otherwise is sheer ignorance at best, or more likely mindless hatred on the part of his critics.

Now THOSE people should scare us all!

It looks like Chris Cannon is doing a great job moderating comments on this article. I sincerely hope I don't live this close to so many bigots and racists.

Nobody is taking Buttar's remarks out of context, or misconstruing them.

As CIP says "It is as clear as black and white, which is what Chris Buttars meant when he made his comment."

A white baby is beautiful, a black baby is ugly. Got it?

Reply to "that is why i am movin outta utah to many racist" - you are truly clueless to how great it is here. But go on, move out - you'll see.
